Btw, for the "right angle", do you simply have to do a 90 degree angle, or match the length as well?

simply right angle
I misread the equidistant to edges as equidistant to corners which gave me a very high score first attempt :)

Qliner Hotkeys is a really sexy looking app but that's where its wow-factor ends. It's weak and inept when compared to AutoHotkey and to add insult to injury, it consumes far more resources. I still have it installed though, it lets me create a nice graphical representation of my shortcuts, I save a jpg screencap of the Qliner keyboard and configure an (Auto)hotkey to load it whenever I need to be reminded of a shortcut. Using the best of both worlds. ;)

also unfortunately didnt work well with european (continental) keyboards a year ago - (may have been updated since?? = No, unfortunately not...)

While tea may have less caffiene than coffee, it has higher amounts of theophylline than coffee, and that is released later in the brewing process. So the longer you brew your tea, the more theophylline you'll have in it...but not at the level that you'd get from prescription strength theophylline pills.

that would explain my problem with coffee - apart from the fact it makes me real jittery, I often "crash" about 1/2 to an hour after drinking a cup - the only thing that helps is food - or maybe coffee but then I'd simply be a nervous wreck...

(Or should that be: a'gin ;D)

how about:

<b>are we doomed to never fully comprehend and resolve a lot of questions because the construction of our brains makes it impossible to do so.</b>

I would risk answering no to that
Naturally though it depends on the "lot of questions" :-[

Sometimes I think we/I cant figure out a lot of stuff cause we keep turning them over in our minds (is that the same as our brain?!? close enough I'd say) - i.e. we give the [conscious] mind (far?) too much importance in the scheme of things.

Think of all the discoveries that were made when people had given up on ever finding the solutions/answers. I remember reading something Einstein said along those lines, I think he may even have credited [someone/thing else]. Me, I'm not too well up on my science history but believe there's a bunch of other very famous discoveries/solutions that were found "by accident" or as said when people had either given up or simply given up thinking about the problem. *

Naturally I'm not saying we shouldnt think :P   So far, I'll just say that "we give the [conscious] mind too much importance in the scheme of things"

* although it's very often like that also with people who want to have kids but are unsuccessful - when they give up "trying" .. eh .. out pops a kid 9 months later. So I guess that's related to being relaxed when trying to find a solution? :)

EDIT: added [stuff in square brackets]

General Software Discussion / Re: Xara Xtreme 4 and Pro 4 released
« Last post by tomos on October 06, 2008, 02:09 PM »
I notice at their website they have some interesting upgrade offers

   Xara Xtreme
Xara X¹, Xara X, Xara XS, CorelXARA, ArtWorks, Xara Studio or Webster
MAGIX Xtreme Photo & Graphic Designer
* Adobe Freehand [9, 10, MX]
   Other competitor

Upgrading to...                            Price
Xara Xtreme PRO 4                $159 US

that's a good offer especially from Freehand 9 which was brought out in '99 I think

from Xara X1 the upgrade is 59 to Xtreme & 199 to pro (Xara X1 for $19 here)

"other competitor" is "on application" - possibly the same as Freehand offer if you want to jump ship from an older version of Corel or Illustrator :)

midnight presumably being at the end of the day!

http://site.xara.com/offers/xarax1/

seems to be open to non-registered users - you have to register - then you get an email & proceed from there

EDIT/ not really worth getting if all you're interested in is upgrading as works out full price well you save $10 on Xara Xtreme upgrade :)

Yeah, I checked that, but it doesn't work for me.  I mean, it doesn't show the html pane content.

odd, one for Pierre then, as I say, it works fine here -
I dont think a template will make any difference if the basic export doesnt work for you

Can someone help give me a template to export selected items to html?  I'm using the html export and I don't really have time to figure out how to make one.  The default works fine, but it doesn't show the contents of the html pane.  I need something that works just like default but also shows the html pane content.  Thanks.

Have you ticked "Include html below the item" ?
it works here, hang on, here's the settings I used just now to check

SQLnotes51.png

but basically ticking that option should work

Any other users of Mouser's CH&S (clipboard extender) here?

I find trying to paste into the html pane often (maybe always) doesnt work -
last copied text is no problem but trying to paste an older clip doesnt work -
I will post in CH&S area but wanted to check here with other SQLN users first ...

Is the new portable version taking the place of the regular installed version? I see that 0.9.23.7i is the latest version but it is only available as a portable version, while 0.9.23.6 is the latest version available with an installer package. Are there new improvements, features, bug fixes, etc. available ONLY in the portable version? Are you abandoning the installer version?

That was asked somewhere in SQLN forums - I'm not looking for it :) but the answers were roughly:

> Are there new improvements, features, bug fixes, etc. available ONLY in the portable version? = YES (at the moment)

> Are you abandoning the installer version? = NO (but sort of for the moment!)

I'm wondering if when I clip from a web page does S+H copy the actual images to the clipboard database it uses or is it just grabbing a url that then displays the image either from the web or my cache file?
-philosopherdog (October 04, 2008, 07:55 AM)

well if you copy stuff from a web page and paste it you will get all the images all right  - but that's the clipboard -
really CH&S does neither -
if you copy stuff from web page, then copy sometheng else, the images and formatting will be gone if you try paste the webpage stuff
It doesnt save the url either

Of course I may be completely wrong but I dont think so :) hopefully somebody more expert than me can confirm this

Far as I know images are on the "roadmap" but not implemented yet ...

Living Room / Re: how to save/convert image to one with transparency for word doc ?
« Last post by tomos on October 03, 2008, 03:18 PM »
From my experience, Word 2007 does support transparency in PNG images and it also has a transparency tool that lets you select a color in your image and use that as the transparency mask.
-VideoInPicture (October 03, 2008, 02:12 PM)

Bizarre,
I took a break and it's working perfectly now - sometimes I think computers & software are like people - they dont like it when you push things too hard and the more frustrated you get with things the less likely they are to work :-\

In the Picture Properties box Textmaker has
Detect automatically & No Transparency options under "Transparent Colour" (default setting is Detect automatically) and as I say,
it's now working perfectly with transparent GIF files

yours, :bemused:   ;D

Living Room / Re: how to save/convert image to one with transparency for word doc ?
« Last post by tomos on October 03, 2008, 11:01 AM »
I'm beginning to suspect it just doesnt work -
just tried Photofiltre with the same results with both PNG and GIF

as to where the problem lies ...

still open to trying any suggestions at any rate

[edit]..tried opening the doc file in SWriter (Star Office) - that couldnt even handle the non-transparent gifs (they filled up the whole page never mind proportion ;)) so I didnt go any further ...[/edit]
9100
I have tiff black & white images (no greyscale, just B/W) - I want to create files with transparent backgrounds (i.e. get rid of white)
I then want to place these in Word Processor file (I'm actually using Textmaker but word doc format)

I've tried using Gimp 2.2 -
it produces images that distort in word file when transparent - I tried GIF & PNG
Also have an old copy of Photoshop (5.5) which was unsuccessful too

What I do is to put them into a text or picture frame in Textmaker & they fill the frame - i.e. lose proportion or whatever you call it
This doesnt happen when saved without transparency ... hopefully it's not just a problem with Textmaker ...

is there another format I could use or a different programme/converter
I have to do about 20 images so can do them manually just so long as it holds ratio in wordprocessor

TIA  :)  Tom
