FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Alias: Send Twitter updates from Farr
« Last post by Perry Mowbray on May 20, 2009, 09:58 AM »
No forget it. I was just about to say something about setting the InstallDirectory, but when I just looked in the new version, it was set. So I think I was using your old one not the new one  :P

Just to make sure I changed the version and tried again: all OK  :)

Sorry: same again... I've just copied the new downloaded folder over the top of the old one.

When my alias updated via dcUpdater it was unpacked into a sub-directory of the original:
C:\Program Files\FindAndRunRobot\AliasGroups\Installed\twitter\twitter

Does that mean your zip package was zipped at the directory level?  :-\

Actually... just checked.  Right now, at 5:46 PM Weds in Ontario (EDT), TZ gives Brisbane as 7:46 PM Thurs,
whereas it's really 7:46 AM.
-cranioscopical (April 29, 2009, 04:50 PM)

Chris sent me his data file and wouldn't you know it? It was all OK and working fine  :-[

So what I've done is add some logging for the download process, so if it goes pear-shaped the log file will already be there to send.

Version 1.0 is attached to the original post.

That doesn't make a lot of sense at the moment. Can you zip up one of your data files, your timezone.ini and the utcOffset.xml file and PM or email me??

Thanks
906
But once it gets to 1am it's OK??

Hello Grandad! :)
-cranioscopical (April 28, 2009, 01:47 PM)

I'll pass on your regards: he's 91 next month  :D

Each custom label has its check mark in place.
The correct label (my own choice) for slot 1 is in the .ini file.
Are those trailing colons a clue?
-cranioscopical (April 28, 2009, 01:47 PM)

No: it was my bad (comes from making the changes at work and then pasting them into the source here at home)... I forgot to replace the test data I was using at work. From the looks of it the label would display OK in FARR, just not in the settings window.

Anyway: it should all be fixed now. Sorry about that  :-[
908
I think you may have been too quick off the mark and installed the one I uploaded with some test data???

Can you install it again: it should fix the problem  :-[

I use Pyscriptter already, but what I am looking for teaching words to the editor not just imported module completion. I know I can use outside programs but I have enough stuff running in my system already :)

Have you tried PyScripter (free)? If I recall correctly, it does code completion for all the included modules, not just the current file. I haven't really used it though, since my Python education has

PSPad? It'll remember/complete currently used words
910
That's very good of you, Perry, thanks for adjusting that!
-cranioscopical (April 24, 2009, 09:04 AM)

I always meant to... just lazy  :-[ I switched to the "City" list to set the Favourites  :D
911
Each row in the Favourites section is the definition for the Favourite (1-5): Tavourite Zone, Replace Timezone Label?, Favourite Label, Favourite Date Format; all of which can be different for each of the possible Favourites.
-Perry

Yes, thanks, I got that far, I was trying to refer to using the DropDown for the Favourite timezone selection.
I can't see very well which item in the dropdown is the best choice for each (any) slot. For example, U.S.A. has many possible entries, but cities don't show in the dropdown (depending on the length of the preceding information).  (see attachment in previous post)
-cranioscopical (April 22, 2009, 06:09 PM)

Version 0.9.5 should fix that now.

Screenshot - 24_04_2009 , 10_52_13 PM.png

Thanks for the push: I was always was going to make it wider  :-[
912
OK, I've got it now, thanks: I'll adjust the width of the dropdown.

In the meantime you can change the list type to "City Name" which removes the Country [& Region]
913
Is there any way to see more width of the list of possible time zones, maybe some sort of tool-tip?
-cranioscopical (April 22, 2009, 12:02 PM)

You mean in the Settings window and the DropDown for the Favourite timezone selection? Sure: I can make the whole thing wider  :D  (ultimately easier than tooltips I think)

There are multiple options for places, some of which encompass different times, and it's hard to see which is the one item to choose for 'favourites'.

Says mine's up to date?

Do I need it after the .ini you sent?

Would be best to  ;)

My DC Updater is not working..... :(

That's sometimes true... but mine is reporting correctly   :-\

You can always install by hand  :o
915
Under time zones I selected London (UK)..

This has been fixed in version 0.9.4, which should be installable using dcUpdater  :)
916
DcUpdater / Re: bug: all updates shown twice, any idea?
« Last post by Perry Mowbray on April 21, 2009, 09:21 AM »
i installed in a custom folder but i didn't move it around.

I've got the exact same problem as lanux, and I installed into the default locations too
917
I just used options and selected London (UK)  ;)

Without selecting a timezone?

I'll have to catch that  ;)

Better not tell my Brother in NZ!

So is NZ still not right?
918
I think I see a problem - AJ which is UK has no website and I click it, it goes to live search?

How'd you do that?

Now NZ shows same time as here! ;D

Really?? I always knew they were behind the times, but I wouldn't have thought that was verified by UTC??  ;)
919
Having slight problem - it's showing UK time same as South Africa, but we are 1 hour ahead?

That's odd. I can of course confirm that SA is 1 hour ahead of UK  ;):
Screenshot - 20_04_2009 , 8_42_23 PM.png

Try reDownloading the data?

If it's still wrong maybe you could zip up the data file and email it to me?

BTW: Double-Clicking on an entry will open the website and the time there should be the same.

one hour sounds suspiciously DSTish...
  • UK DST started on Sunday, 29 March 2009 at 1:00 AM local standard time, and
  • SA has No known DST-adjustments for year 2009

Yes, it does, but what if I want several duplicates? Is it possible to both stamp and number the files?

Date - Time??
921
I've also attached a compiled version that you can put into your "Send To" directory.

Does that do it?
-Perry Mowbray (April 16, 2009, 10:35 PM)

Yes, it does, but what if I want several duplicates? Is it possible to both stamp and number the files?

Also, I much prefer a drag and drop method where I could process multiple files at once, if possible.

Well it can do anything you want it to  :)

I only added date as that was what you had in your screenshot.

You can drag multiple files onto the compiled version (or a shortcut to the exe). If you put it into your Send To directory you can multi-select too.

I'm happy to make a change to the script: just tell me what you want tagged on the end
922
Thanks Target, but that will will rename the duplicate file to "Copy of ..." the source file. I guess I was not very clear about what I am looking for... Anyway, here's a screenshot:
 (see attachment in previous post)
What I want is to drop a file in a folder and get an option to duplicate the file, so I get something like this:
 (see attachment in previous post)

Hope I'm not butting in, but this can be sort of done with any script, here's an AHK:
Code: AutoIt [Select]
  1. ; Script to duplicate a file with current date
  2. dateString := A_YYYY . "-" . A_MM . "-" . A_DD
  3. Loop %0%  ; For each parameter (or file dropped onto a script):
  4. {
  5.     SourcePath := %A_Index%  ; Fetch the contents of the variable whose name is contained in A_Index.
  6.     SplitPath, SourcePath, OutFileName, OutDir, OutExtension, OutNameNoExt, OutDrive
  7.     DestinationPath := OutDir . "\" . OutNameNoExt . "_" . dateString . "." . OutExtension
  8.
  9.     FileCopy, %SourcePath%, %DestinationPath%, 1
  10. }

I've also attached a compiled version that you can put into your "Send To" directory.

Does that do it?

Yikes - I thought I had a lot of wires!  ;D

The box of unused wires/cables makes it look worse  ;)

I've just bought a new mouse and keyboard so I had to re-jig the desk. The keyboard layout is Colemak (I'm 2 days into my cold turkey)

Monitors are now at a better height. But I need to build some shelves for storage to de-clutter the desks.
