Thanks for the replies.  Just because I hate it when a bud falls out and I could get them for $8 I bought these JVC Earclip Buds

They are a bit cumbersome to put on.  But once in they are snug and comfortable.  I have never owned $50 buds so have nothing high end to compare them to.  But they sound better than my Koss buds.  The main thing I noticed was instruments would be in left, center or right location.  Like the separation was much more pronounced.

They have a loop that slides down the wires to the clips which reduces the chance of tangling while in the pocket or baggie.  With these the Sandisk sounds quite decent.  I recommend them for anyone who likes to spend $10 or less on buds.  I changed the Sandisk eq. setting from max bass to the Jazz preset and they sound fine.  On my Philips player I left everything the same except I notched the volume down 3 ticks.

Anyway a bargain if you can conveniently pick them up at a Walmart store avoiding shipping fees.

I would try adding `n to the end of your Sendinputs.  If that does not work try `r`n  for spacing tabs may be useful...  `t

Q Knot: a cross between a rubber band and a zip tie (reusable)

Thanks.  Those look very cool.  Like now and then a power cord will come with one on the cord.  I wish there was a dollar store with more techie stuff.  Now and then I go to DollarTree but they all involve a lot of walking from here.  There are non-chain dollar stores in downtown but most do not have the "everything is a dollar" rule like the Tree does. Plus to find anything in less than an hour I have to ask the owner.  I hate that.

Speaking of twist ties it seems tough to find any for sale at a low price that aren't the paper covered kind.  I have noplace to store and no use for a giant box of garbage bags to get them included.  :D

Thanks for the typo fixer. I think I tried something similar, if not that one a few years back.

Since passwords were mentioned can someone explain to me why it is necessary after all these years to have passwords with a mix of UPPER and lower Case, numbers, symbols and two teardrops?  They claim it is to prevent a dictionary attack.  For the dictionary attack to work there needs to be a lot of trial and error as it goes through the word list.  So why are these institutions letting whoever is trying to log on make all these attempts?

I don't believe it.  I think it is just an excuse to lock you out of your own account.  Whoops!  You must have hit '0' key instead of ')' key when you logged in!! Your fault.  Give me a break.
(Was that long enough to qualify as a rant?  I hope not.  I don't want to exceed my quota for the month.)  ;)

bring their can in for a tune-up?
Eh.???  Typo or were you being more 'descriptive'?

I must get an AI spellcheck that catches words in the dictionary that I didn't mean to type.  It seems to happen incessantly.  Sometimes I have to edit 7 or 8 times just to post a paragraph.  Computer!!  Type what I mean!  Not the words that just so happen to be there!

I had a LOL at that. It's hamstringing. "Here, I want you to tighten the screws on this piece of equipment, but just for grins you are not allowed to use a screwdriver of any kind."
IT Confucius say: Support person who provide one solution to dumb requirement will find more dumb requirement in email next day...

For some reason it reminds me of people who would bring their can in for a tune-up.  They would try to hand you points, plugs and condenser they bought from the parts store.  About one out of ten would get the point when asked "do you bring your own eggs to the restaurant?"

But on the wacko requirement thing I am convinced it is simply a matter of "That would be cheating!  Too easy."

@questorfla on another thread I posted the VirusTotal report for Nir Sofer's NirLauncher.  It is just a Gui with links for all his excellent utilities.  But because there are so many and they actually do something to adjust your system settings, the report is nearly 1/2 red flags.  It is scary.  Somebody sends a copy of that to your ISP with a few red flags and they panic.  Even though the actual conclusion may say "Probably Harmless" in large letters at the top.

Everyone is so paranoid now.  It is really disconcerting.

Just for grins here is the "analysis" of the latest nirlauncher zip file:

viola!"'  OR is that Ole' ?
depends on if it has horns?
I will try that in a few minutes

You may find this handy:
https://autohotkey.c.../page-30#entry622493

It is just a small Gui for compiling AHK.  It has tabs for entering file version, copyright etc.

But it is cool because you can right click an .ahk file in Explorer and select Compile With Options.  I recommend enabling the setting Save Settings in Script.  That way you don't end up with a .ini file with settings for every .ahk you compile.

@Milesahead: Just had a package RTS from Miami, despite using the same address for the recipient that has been used to successfully receive items from Amazon.

I've been told that Miami is one of the worst USPS departments in the country - and this was by the USPS people that were helping a friend try and get the package delivered.

So attempt number 2  :-\

Miami and South Florida generally seem to have a different rhythm than I am used to from the Northeast.  It has taken me several years to learn to keep my heart rate down while waiting in line for stuff to happen.  It is just a world unto itself.  It seems to go more smoothly when I am able to stay relaxed.  It must be a holdover from the old days when there was no air conditioning down here.  Too humid to hurry when doing things.  Stuff progresses in its own time.  :)

Looks like they aren't anxious to sell these for $95 after all.  I got an email and the simplest way out is just to take a refund.  But at least they stand behind it.  Things don't always go perfectly to be sure.

So as that editorializing skank on Saturday Light Live used to say: "Never mind."

Checked my mail again today.  Still no AData drive.  But experience has shown if I just keep in communication with the seller they will make it right one way or the other.  $100 down and the chase is on!!   :D

At least I had some other mail waiting so the trip wasn't for nothing.  :)

Sorry.  I did not read the last line on the OP.   :-[

I am not familiar with those devices.  Is there perhaps a programmable key that has a setting in Control Panel or something under the keyboard driver to send out a user defined sequence?  I used a KVMA switch for years and they were never the same on different flavors of Windows.  So I never did much with them.

I would take a look at the Autohotkey help for remapping keys.  Also instead of a desktop icon you could have a tray menu command to send the key combination.  See the help for Send and SnedMode Input.  Send command in the help has a list of key names.

The key remapping is often a one-liner.  For example if I want to press Shift F7 instead of control alt del I could do

Code: Autohotkey [Select]
  1.
  2. +F7::^!Del

If just using the hotkey symbols on the right hand side does not work you can use Send,{key}{key2}{etc}  instead.

For grins I looked at the zip ties available at walmart.com.  I figure for USB cables and old buds I save for emergency use they should be ok if I leave a bit of a gap when I put them on.  I got lucky and found a bag of 50 for $2.99 with free shipping:

http://www.walmart.c...ion-SAPT143/37838919

Small items like that they usually throw in an envelope and send via regular mail.  I should not have a problem with anyone refusing to take delivery etc..

I would have gone with the reusable version for what you want:

http://www.walmart.c...ner-3x115mm/47560479

Never heard of reusable zip ties. Then again I only have a few cables in baggies to keep untangled.  $2.99 seems ok if they ever arrive.  I seem to be getting funky delivery tracking results on everything I ordered in the last week.  Especially if the carrier uses USPS.  I guess it is a good time to stick with site to store pickup when possible.

What dluby said.

Turns out Amazon accepted my order, but came back a day later and said "Sorry, we don't actually have this for you any more." Hmph.

Hmm, I guess instead of "only 2 left" they should have used the blurb "we have one of these for sale if your handle is MilesAhead and you feel like chasing it around for days."  Heh heh

I sent an Email to Amazon after I found the Contact Us link.  They said they contacted the carrier and supposedly they have the package and intend to deliver it.  However the tracking info still shows what I posted.

This is a major reason I want to get my own postal address while waiting to get an apartment or whatnot.  But like everything else I need a Florida ID to rent a postal box.  If anyone is in proximity to Boston City Hall please PM me.  If I can get a copy of my birth certificate I should be able to get a Florida ID.  They have my driver's license records in the computer.  But since the license is expired, so is my identity.  Just another hurdle to make it fun on the street(not talkin' Wall Street here!!  heh heh)

Not 9999 or 10,000 or 10001. What went wrong?! Please, someone!

lol, I was bogged down with lots of stuff in the last while and then on (more or less offline) holiday.
Did capture this, but never got round to posting it

Tarbuck knot for bundles or loops. Works well using small nylon cord. Slide knot to tighten it.

Thanks for the response.  Back in the days when I had a couple of PC Towers under a table you should have seen the nest of wires!!  Heh heh.  I should have done it neatly then.  But if it worked I didn't fix it in those days.

Now I am mainly looking to keep things will small wires from tangling.  Stuff like earbud wires and usb cables that go to hand held players etc..  I have some zip ties ordered for stuff I will be storing for a long period such as old spare earbuds..  For stuff I need to unwrap all the time I am going to try those rubber fish wrap thingies.. if they ever arrive in the mail.  :)

For the USB cords I'll probably either use a rubber band or a twisty tie.  Just so it doesn't get tangled up with the other smaller wires.

You guys didn't miss out on anything.  The tracking info says my item was delivered yesterday.  I went there today and after an hour of waiting in the sun I was told I have no mail waiting.  The tracking info, rather than a note who signed for the package has this:

Delivered yesterday
Your package was delivered. It was handed directly to a receptionist or someone at a front desk.

Like I can do anything with that.  Someday says "I'll take that" and they just hand it to them.. in a place full of addicts and alcies.  Right.

I have had T-Shirts and other USB drives ripped off in the past.  Looks like I need a new place to get my mail.  Trouble is most places will not ship to GENERAL DELIVERY.  So I have to shell out a monthly fee just to get an address.  Edit:  They have you coming and going.  Renting a mail address is not possible without a government issued ID.  Everything keeps coming back to that, coincidentally.

I found out the problem. The player does not have such bad sound after all.  The buds that came with it are dog sh*t.  I plugged in the $4 Koss buds I bought from Walmart and there was good bass and mucho volume!  No need to run everything through MP3Gain.  That's a relief because that was getting tedious to say the least.  I thought it was kind of tinny sound for a $50 player!!  Glad the Sandisk isn't such piece of crap after all!!

Supergirl

I am a sucker for comic book super hero stuff.  I have to wonder if ratings are already a worry since they have already shown a tight closeup of SG getting off a stool for no reason other than showing her get off the stool.  If they dip further there may be a "wardrobe malfunction" as she pulls her shirt open to go save somebody in danger, but, Whoops!  No uniform underneath!!  That would definitely make the bloopers reel.  What is weird though is how weird Dean Cain looks.  He was a handsome guy in Lois and Clark.  My guess is the suplements he took while playing in the NFL are catching up with him.

Bill Gates must have seen Ursula Andress carrying one in Dr. No.  Otherwise he probably would have named it "sack of system crap."  :)
