Beats me. Outside of Goop/GoJo all I can think of is Fast Orange...(I have a 1 gallon bottle in the garage that I've had for years)...but that doesn't fit the description. It's a pumice/lanolin hand cleaner on a hand lotion style pump dispenser.

Oof! That's a big one ... I hit 50 in January. I've got much the same knees and ankles are crap issue. I'm trying to figure out what to do about it before it gets to far ... Seems I was a bit hard on them in my younger days. I need to get back into yoga me thinks.

If by cheater bar you mean a piece of pipe then yes, I've done both. Actually motorcycle front fork tubes work wonderfully for that. (Speaking of which...) Did you know that the lug nuts on the passenger side of a 64 Dodge polara are left hand thread?? I didn't ... And I snapped 2 Craftsman 1/2" ratchets and split 3 sockets before I figured it out.

The two are not mutually exclusive...as sometimes the repair is to alter the control computer's software. It's bad enough that the bar is already set at prohibitively expensive gadgetry just to do a minor engine tweak like dropping the idle so one's Harley goes back to idling like a Harley is supposed to instead of buzzing like some spastic appliance (Dealer Only Item(s) cost ~$600 for just that!).

No the corporate masters need to lose this one, and the messier the better. Because killing off an entire aspect of our culture in the name of IP law is simple unacceptable.

A clever sentiment sure. But it reality which scenario is more likely to have an adverse impact on the environment?
1. People get an existing know good system and tweak it to their specific needs/liking.
2. People have to scratch build something totally in the hops of building a workable (close enough) baseline they can then work from.

Keeping you hand open so the ratchet hits first helps a bit on those odd occasions too. Alternatively I'm a huge fan of breaker bars as they nicely limit the amount of force that needs to be controlled.

Somehow I don't recall ever hearing about MITM being an issue/factor with hostile Ads, as it's usually the Ads themselves that are foisting some scareware crap on the target. The marketing companies being constantly in a froth for money...the "screening process" (yes I'm smirking) for who gets to advertise what is total shit. Delivering malware over a "secure" connection - to me - makes about as much sense as having an attacker take a shower before they murder you.

Server side caching on a server that doesn't even seem to have a control panel? You probably need to use phpinfo uploaded via FTP to get some php and other version info. Something like wwww.domain.com/cpanel or serverip:8443 doesn't exist?

Yes, caching is an IIS default, the cpanel is optional. *Shrug* ...The hosting is also donated by another company, and was in place prior to my involvement...so I've no idea what agreements were made.

On the "bright" side...the db crashed shortly after my post (main site displayed db go poof error). So after whoever restarted whatever (or maybe it was automated) I was able to get in just fine (about an hour later).

But thanks for chiming in!

Developer's Corner / WordPress Login Fiasco

Greetings
   This is one of those nagging issues I've been contending with for a while, that has finally come to a head. From the research I've done it's a somewhat common issue that has no real concrete solution. When trying to login to the WordPress admin backend the login keeps looping back to the login screen (yes the password is correct). The reflexively regurgitated answer is to dump the browser cache...which - for whatever reason - has never worked. The issue affects all browsers I have tried (IE, FF, Chrome, and Safari (Yes, I actually got that desperate..)).

   The only thing that I have found that had a high rate (98%) of success, was to toggle IE's compatibility mode. Start normal, let it fail, flip on compatibility mode, and it succeeded (Usually..). After this, the site could be put back in normal mode...and the login would work fine. Once again...Usually.

   Now the behavior has changed so that the redirect maze which is the WP login just stops at a blank page that after a few (5-10 - sometimes forced) refreshes finally kicks me back to the login page. I suspect that it is something that is being cached on the server side. But this is the only site I deal with that I don't have direct access to the server on. They don't even have a control panel that I (have ever seen) am aware of. I do have FTP access to the site root so I can attempt to force the issue from there...but I'm not entirely sure what the best angle of attack would be.

   The site is for the local Humane Society which I donate the time to maintain for them. So the creatures and I would greatly appreciate any assistance we can get with this issue.

I use Acrobat 9 Pro, and it's very fast. Small files open instantly, and opening larger ones only takes a few seconds. (3 seconds with a 150 MB file I just checked.) However, it's rather expensive. It does include all the bells & whistles, but most are rarely needed, similar to how few of MS Office features are ever needed.

Just throwing that out there as nobody had mentioned it, and it is very fast.

Derp! ...Apparently I've been using the Editor for a while now and didn't realize it.





My PDF requirements are fairly minimal, just view and occasionally create (with Cute PDF)...but the view part must be fast. Apparently the Editor is a bit slower than the viewer - I had been wondering about that - but not enough to be really aggravating.

Not everything UI plays nice together. T-Clock had a similar check in its code for many years. For the most part I'd just left it there - trusting the previous author - to see if anybody ever complained ... which they never did. TBH I'm not entirely sure if it's still there of not.

Does it do that for every tab? One of the things previous versions of IE was smart about, was doing tab/process grouping - so, unlike insane-o chrome, you don't end up with a zillion processes not executables. The separation of "UI" and "Worker" processes seems like a sound thing to do, but each site in its own processes is... ugh (sure, there's some security implications, but mostly it smells like a "uh, threading and async is hard" thing to me).

Sorry, it took me a while to get back to this (I didn't have time to fiddle with 10). It starts with 3 for the first tab/page, added a forth for the 2nd tab, then held there for the 3rd tab. Added another for the 4th tab, and held there for the next 7. The 8th tab finally added another instance of the .exe.

So...I'll go with yes on this one.

- I just saw an article that says a search bar (may?) be hard-coded to sit there starting at you in Win10, and it's part integrated with Bing.

It is currently the - search every with tiled MSN like web highlights (ick) - default, but there is an option to remove it ... Which I'd sincerely hope they never drop.
