General Software Discussion / Re: "Files NOT Used" utility
« Last post by CodeTRUCKER on May 16, 2007, 04:38 PM »
I think I'd be inclined to move old files to a specific backup rather than just deleting them.  It doesn't happen often compared to regular file access, but I've certainly had the need to dig out files that were untouched for a lot longer than 180 days.  Why not dump them to DVD along with path information?

Certainly a valid consideration.  DVDs are pretty cheap too, nowadays.  Thanks, Chris!.

Yes, I had CleanSweep too, at one point, but I think it went with my PC to the repair house and did not come back with it, at least that is my best guess.

As far as "last access," I am only intending on deleting files that are over a year old since I last accessed them, but your caution is well taken.

Does anyone know of an app that will keep track of the last time or many times an app was used and then rank them?

I am wanting to keep my hard drive as spartan as I can in an attempt to eliminate as many variables as possible from affecting my computer.

Thank you, All so very much!  I have not yet had success and I am out of ideas, but it was certainly nice to have all this support.

Thanks, but I still have some avenues I can try, albeit not all that promising, but still a "possibility."

I did find a 16KB "~DFE202.tmp" with the precise time stamp I need.  Is there a way to open/view these ~*.tmp files?

Help!  A local newspaper has been giving quite a lot of press to antagonist's interests in regard to an organization I know.  This is the work of an angry person who was highly offended when his attempts to change community patterns to his own liking were not realized.  I can assure you the people are not "kool-aid" drinkers and many of them are my personal friends.  Good people.

The main instigator to the attacks has now publicly confessed (on the newspaper's forum) that his accusations against my friends were contrived and none of it is true.   On the same forum where all of the vehemence has been vented is now the place of significant embarrassment to the local paper and the reporter that has had major full page stories for weeks in the Sunday editions.  Not surprisingly, this forum has been deleted and no confession that it ever existed has been acknowledged when I called to question the paper.  They even denied any knowledge of the confession I read with my own eyes.

I am now trying to find that post containing the confession for some specific reasons, but the cache I have no longer can present it.

Does anyone know how I might be able to recover it?

TIA

Good Luck!

I have built a number of items myself.  Once you have something drawn up, I would be happy to look at your plans and offer what ever I could.

Most CAD programs have a feature that will lend itself to specializing.  You might already have what you need if you have a CAD installed.

Some that I have used are...

Minos - Free, cryptic and spartan, but lightning fast!
TurboCAD - Major contender to AutoCAD (or at least wants to be.)
IntelliCAD - Free(?) AutoCAD clone.
Pencil & Paper - Free, Y2K Compliant and well-proven.

Farmsteader did you poor concrete in the floor to keep that small table standing? ;)

No, I did not pour concrete.  I sliced the carpet and drilled four 1/2" holes in the foundation with a hammer drill (DO NOT try a regular drill) and installed anchor bolts in the holes.  The kind you hammer in and are self-tightening as you draw them up by tightening (make sure you put the nut on BEFORE you hammer).

I too want to know about the reclining. I have chronic back problems. It went out again yesterday. I am sitting in my office chair looking at my special back chair ( a cloth version of this chair ) while hunched over and hurting. I have thought several times about creating such a setup with something like this.

Man, Chaim, that hurts thinking about it.  In regard to your inquiry, I have not suffered any problems and have enjoyed substantial relief over other postures.  Make sure you have good head support so you do not need to hold your head up.

An added benefit to my arrangement is the ability to lean back the recliner and snooze when a short nap is in order.

PM me if you have any other specific inquiries.  In the meantime, I hope your chairs can help you.

Now, you will have to excuse me.  I have just been summoned by a diminutive primate.  He undoubtedly has been monkeying around with his code and is in a recursive loop.

How much does ShaggyPup charge to do freelance coding jobs?

ShaggyPup has requested that you allow him to not own this until he has had a opportunity to peruse the project, but wants to assure you that it will be competitive.

Farmsteader, how do you like working in a reclining chair.. it's something i've always been curious about if it would actually work, and you seem to have taken the idea quite seriously.  Did you custom build that table setup? (bolted to floor?)

Mostly it started with one of those cantilever CRT monitor stands.  The table is my own design.  Essentially, from the anchor bolts embedded in the concrete foundation floor to the table top is my construction.  Everything above the table is a modified monitor support arm.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Of course they do!

ps. I think that monkey has to be immortalized in cartoon form one day by nudone, as one of Cody's best friends.

I am sure his monkeyship would be honored.  Please advise when you need proof photos for this.  He will be sure and show his best side.

Missing Picture
Picture of Farmsteader holding up NANY mug reclining in La-Z-Boy with laptop suspended by cantilever arm just in front, keyboard in lap and trackball mouse on right arm of recliner.
At right is the figure of ShaggyPup on stool in own diminutive rocking chair with laptop, coding books and his own miniature NANY mug.
