Okay okay. After mouse and Perry each twisted my arm, I hereby pledge to participate in NANY 2010.

I guess you'll need them to do something... so we'll let go now  :)

Yes I'm a long term user of Open Contacts, which I enjoy mostly, but there's something about the interface that doesn't quite work for me  :-\

As far as features go, one area that I find frustrating is how these programmes handle family groups, or couples.

Open Contacts does the relationships for companies/employees, and I've used related contacts, but really the address is shared. When it changes you'd want to change it once not many times (if you know what I mean).

N.A.N.Y. 2010 / Mini NANY's are here
« Last post by Perry Mowbray on December 08, 2009, 09:43 PM »
I'm proud to announce that we are now accepting Mini NANY Pledges and Entries.

:-\ What on earth is a Mini NANY?

We became aware that there may be a number of people who, for whatever reason, don't have the resources to complete a full NANY this year (me being one  :-[). And rather than exclude them from the fun of releasing something for the New Year, we decided to introduce a new category in NANY called Mini NANY.

A Mini NANY could be:
  • A Pledge / Release that the developer thinks is not substantial enough to be a Normal NANY (It might be a very simple script that's incredibly useful).
  • A Pledge / Release that will not be completed (Maybe a partner could be found?).
  • A Pledge / Release that does not quite fit a Normal NANY.

We're hoping that providing a category with a lower bar will enable everyone to participate... so now there is no excuse (even if you are time poor) not to get involved and join the fun!

It's kinda like a stripped down version of HP's WebJet Admin, main differences being mine is tiny, portable, and fast (you can scan a standard class C network with it in about 12 seconds).

Assuming anybody can use it (I hope), consider it pledged.

« Last post by Perry Mowbray on December 06, 2009, 11:49 PM »
hamradio has just produced some great graphics  :-* that be used on websites, forum posts and the like.

There are three variants (Transparent background, White background and Bordered background) of two ribbons (Pledge and Participant).

You are encouraged to use these ribbons on your website with a link back to the NANY Page.

Using the Images
  • Download a zip file containing all versions of the graphics, Zip File, and host them on your site, or
  • Use the links below to download the individual images you want and include them normally, or
  • Link directly to the images hosted here.
  • Link back to either your Pledge or Entry. For example the following code would be used to link to SkyIDE's Multiboot ISO Maker:
Code: HTML [Select]
  1. <a href="https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=20465.0">
  2.    <img src="https://www.donationcoder.com/codyclub/nany2010/nanyrib_2010_t.png">
  3. </a><br />
  4. <a href="https://www.donationcoder.com/nany2010/">NANY 2010</a>
should produce something like:

NANY 2010

Pledge Ribbon
This ribbon can be used as soon as you've pledged your entry for this year.
Transparent Background
White Background
Bordered Background

NANY Idea: Automatic Pidgin accounts.xml encryption (for Windows).

Not to put anyone off coding this up, but it could be easily achieved (I just did it in a couple of minutes) with FARR and the AMPL plugin with the steps:
  • Decrypt Encrypted File (using command line encryption tool)
  • Run programme (in your case Pigeon) and wait to finish
  • Encrypt PlainText File
  • Delete PlainText File

You'd just need to have FARR installed, as well as AHK. Let me know if I can help any more...

*) Yep… stolen. I took it to my job few weeks ago and left in the kitchen (on second day of being there). No one has seen it afterwards
-fenixproductions (December 06, 2009, 05:21 PM)

That's pretty bad: I know the DC Mugs are highly prized, but that's ridiculous...

Mine went straight to the pool room

in general dc has a policy of replacing mugs that get lost/stolen/broken, so email me.

A lifetime warranty: that's pretty cool  :)

About the only thing I fire Amiga Forever up for these days is when I really want to do some fast scripting and nothing beats ARexx for just getting the job done.

:-* Ah: those were the days... scripting access to every programme in a very easy way.

also everyone should remember that there are no winners of NANY, we basically send the NANY mug to everyone who participates*

Yes, we've been trying to minimize the use of Prize and maximize the concept of Reward. Sometimes I let something through though  :-[

Huge thanks to nudone for creating this year's NANY Prize Graphics.

This year he's, how should I say, pieced or chopped together, a wonderful NANY graphic based on his Cody Frankenstein image.

The Mug Graphic

Custom Alterations
This year we can again accommodate Entrants that want to alter the graphic on their reward. If you are wanting to alter the graphic we will make the raw image available for you to edit.

If you are a graphic artist you may like to offer your services in the Volunteer Thread to alter the graphics for Entrants.

I pledge to release one or more somethings this year. (that's allowed, right?)  Last year was awesome, working on my app and then seeing all of the cool apps created by others.  I cannot wait!

"Somethings" are allowed (and encouraged)... I'll have issues with more than 3 somethings tho'  :(

Evening all.....

I'm happy to participate... But my brain is a bit empty on ideas.....

If there is anyone out there, who might have a good idea, unique, one that is useful and would be popular...  and would like to form a PARTNERSHIP and we'll create something together?  i.e. you come up with the idea(s) and I'll do the coding... Then I am up for that!

It'll be a partnership effort (assuming thats allowed????)

Probably best to PM me if anyone is interested???

There is nothing wrong with partnerships, in fact, I've been pondering lots of other ideas to encourage group entries (I've been thinking of Community Entries). I love the idea  :-*

You may want to check out the Ideas Thread, and maybe make your offer there?

You may also want to give a brief idea of what you're experienced with  :-\
