Excellent, excellent, excellent recommendation Deo:Thmbsup:

That is still one of my absolute favorites. Solid storyline, good characters, a poetic narrative style, and a moral of sorts. It doesn't get much better than that.

I even went so far as to buy the 'enhanced' edition on DVD thru Amazon, although I must admit I liked the the original 'classic' version better.

I own the DVD set as well!

I used to loan it out constantly until last year when it didn't come back.

And that's why I don't loan out CDs or DVDs.

ps.
Cody (our bird/duck mascot) has insisted I tell people that if they cannot make monetary donations, he would be happy to receive chocolate coins in gold foil wrappers, or else hand drawn pictures of himself to hang on his wall.

Where do I send the chocolate/pictures?  ;)

I never read any comic books, but now that I think of it, there was one I kind of did read. It's an interactive graphic novel done in Flash with music and sound effects.

It even came out on DVD with voice acting by some famous voice actors (I recognized 2 of the voices from Inuyasha).

It's called Broken Saints. Unfortunately their website has fallen into disrepair since the apex of their popularity. None of the links work, except the blog.

But when the site was up and running, they allowed you to download the chapters, and I still have them in my downloads folder. It's an 12-hour epic, broken into chapters (some of which are broken into acts) and in my opinion it's a very powerful story. It's definitely an adult novel (language, violence, nudity) not meant for kids or the workplace, but I think if you enjoy graphic novels (or even if you don't know you do) you ought to watch it.

I have never been into comic books/graphic novels but I thoroughly enjoyed Broken Saints. I'll even admit that near the end this one had me in tears. :-[ I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Just click the chapter HTM files from the root directory, they will attempt to popup a new browser window fit to the optimum viewing dimensions and you can start enjoying an awesome graphic novel!

We should be grateful Andrew Cormier confines such genius to the creation of puzzles.

Imagine what else a mind like that would be capable of building if it ever got pissed off about something.

Ever see the movie Cube? Imagine if it was one of these.  :stars:

Okay, I clicked. And I recognized the music from a video game called Gauntletw.

Okay, so they're not exactly the same, but they seemed close enough.

Interestingly enough, Gauntlet came out in 1985, but The Final Countdown came out in 1986.

I'm afraid to click. I'm not sure I want an annoying earworm.

But now that you bring it up, how about that Spice Girls song: "So tell me what you want what you really really want. I'll tell you want I want what I really really want." or whatever.

Oh carp, the worm has wriggled into my ear canal!  :'(

Thanks nudone for the great images!

Here's my physical desk top. It's a mess and seems especially cluttered with my bowl of cereal and two mugs on it all at once.

Well, that's really dumb. You have to wait in a queue before they'll even allow you to download the software to get it running. They claim there's an update required for my QuakeLive software, but you can't update what you haven't installed!

EDIT: Finally gave it a play. I only did the placement match. Seems okay, but something kept causing my mouse to lose focus from the game so I'd be completely unable to control myself until I clicked on the window again, which wasn't good because that would often make me fire my rocket launcher at the wall I happened to be facing when I lost control.

Also, playing 3D games in the browser isn't that new of a thing. Instant Action has been doing that for over a year now, and most of their games have much higher quality graphics than Quake Live.

I tried to play it but I was always like 26,000th in the queue :p

Just signed up for it and I'm 2,500 in the queue. Seems to be going down 100+ per minute. Still, that's about a 15-20 minute wait. . .

Yeah I don't get it either. Is Windows really starting to lose a huge market share to Linux? I didn't even know they were really competing.

I used to work for Directv and one of the things I learned there was that Dish Network was not our competitor. We weren't worried at all with Dish Network because they were so far behind in regards to market share. Our real competitor was Cable.

Considering how vastly small the Linux user base is (relatively speaking, and not counting Servers), I just can't see in what universe anyone would truly think Windows is competing with Linux.

Looks like a useful little script. Except I don't usually have my computer in my bedroom, and couldn't stand wearing earphones to bed.

Any suggestions on improving it?

How about adding that brain-sensor? ;D

But not just any TV show. Being a movie buff, I hardly ever watch TV. But I did watch Firefly. If you never caught it, rent the DVDs and give it a spin. You might be surprised how good a television series can be if they let it.

My friend rented Serenity back in 2005 or so and nearly the entire time I was watching it I was thinking of how stupid and full of cliches it was. He liked it so much he later bought the movie and the Firefly TV series. Then he started watching Firefly and I liked it a lot more than the movie because I was used to the character's personalities and roles. Somewhere along the lines we also watched Serenity again and it wasn't as bad as I first thought. Still, it's just a TV show.

Although I must admit, at least it's somewhat related to space, and is just a space vessel, thus it makes more sense than naming a planet after Xena: Warrior Princess.

Of course, if we continued in the Greek and Roman tradition of naming planets after our gods, what would we call them today?

I'm afraid it would be something like: Madonna -or- Brittany -or- J-Lo -or- MONEY!

I see your point, but at the same time I think perhaps you didn't quite get mine. Even the Romans named some of the months after the "great" rulers. And days of the week are named after something important (Sunday for the sun, Monday for the moon, not sure exactly what the others are for). We just go, "Xena is hot! Name it after her! Oh yeah, and Gabrielle too!"

The point is that, especially with the Greeks, they named the planets after something they truly believed in; we don't really believe in Madonna or Britney or J-Lo or Money. We just obsess over them.

We could at least choose a name of significance instead of naming something as incredible as a planetary discovery after a poorly acted, stupid TV show.  :-\

The name of a part of the space station isn't that big of a deal to me. So I guess this is more of a belated rant on planet Xena, since like I said, I was thinking about this a few days ago. Before I heard about this space station part.

Oh well. I guess Shakespeare was right: A rose by any other name would still aggravate my allergies.

Ha!

Robots have shiny metal posteriors which should not be bitten.

Nice Futurama reference.

That is damn sad, indeed. Sounds a lot like the policy-making we do in the US!

No kidding! Did you hear about HR 80, the Captive Primate Safety Act? This was rushed through Congress after the recent Chimp attack in which a "domesticated" Chimp ripped off a woman's face and bit off her hands. You'd think the act was designed to protect humans by making it illegal to own a primate, but the truth is that the bill was introduced by the Humane Society because they say keeping a primate in captivity (in a cage) at home is cruel and unusual punishment to the animal.

Isn't it great to know that Congress is more concerned for the welfare of animals than human beings?

BTW: Serenity is now at 84%,

I was just thinking about this a couple days ago:

In ancient times, the Greeks named planets they discovered after their gods. In modern times, we name our planets after TV shows... (Planet Xena and the moon Gabrielle).

Now I find out that we can name a space station and once again people are going for a TV show... :-\

I'm not sure about the answers to your questions, but be sure to look for those occasional deals by Microsoft where they offer full version software for a discount or for free (for students or members of the military, for instance).
