Post New Requests Here / Re: Vista Multiple Mouse Cursors
« Last post by Deozaan on May 10, 2009, 12:56 AM »
You mean like you have 2 cursors who do the same thing or you can use 2 mouses?
One cursor with two mice
-wreckedcarzz (May 05, 2009, 04:42 PM)

I'm doing this right now in Windows XP. Two physical mice are connected, and only one cursor is on screen. I don't need a hotkey to toggle between the two. I just grab which one I want to use and it automatically controls the mouse cursor.

Or did you mean one mouse with two cursors?

Sad to hear, but I've seen the same sort of things happen, and it's what keeps me here on DC time after time.

Now, if folks posted here like they do on donationcoder IRC... *shivers*

What kind of information are you looking for, Avery?

I've used Crossloop a number of times to help out my wife's friends (who don't speak English). She translates over the phone and I work the magic for the computer stuff. We make a good team.

Looks like you met the client I saw last Friday...  ;D

Probably used to a Mac.

I know this post (mine) is pointless and doesn't add to the discussion, but this thread of dialog really made me laugh out loud. Thanks for the humor, all three of you!

I'm probably not much help, as I've never been to Europe, but I've heard from people who have that staying in a hostel is a cheap way to travel. It might work for a temporary solution.

if it's of any consolation, Prey was released after 11 years in development and a change in developers - 3D Realms giving it up to Humanhead Studios.

I didn't realize they did Max Payne and Prey.

I remember many hours playing single and multi-player.

So do I, but it hasn't been since the days of Doom and Duke Nukem 3D that I've enjoyed an FPS frag fest on PC.

Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on Nintendo 64, on the other hand, are a different story. Not since Perfect Dark have I enjoyed an FPS frag fest as much.

Sauerbraten is fun, but most of the fun of it, in my opinion, is with the in-game cooperative map editing, with occasional frag fests now and then to keep things interesting.

I was quite sad that Space Siege got such bad reviews.  I just bought it for 9.99 out of memories of Dungeon Siege, hoping that this is one of those cases of a game I'll like that no one else does.

Let us know if it's any good.

I still don't understand how it could possibly take 12 years to make a game. Or why they didn't come out with other games in the meantime to help with the revenue problem. Bad business plan means you're going out of business.

If they didn't see this coming in the past twelve years, they've had their heads in the sand.

Gee, the Geek 1.0 is the protypical "nerd" that only existed in comedy movies.

Interestingly enough, Geek 2.0 is also the prototypical geek in modern film and television. And reminds me a lot of the "Mac" in the Mac vs. PC ads.

But seriously, shortening an URL? Are you kidding?

I think it would only qualify if you wrote your own url shortener, otherwise every dipwit celebrity on Twitter is a geek, and last time I checked, Oprah wasn't a geek.

Well, Oprah just might be a geek. Just look at their definition of what a Geek is these days:

Basically, if you have a cell phone and a laptop, you're a geek.

apparently, it's a myth that they change colour as a means of camouflage (i learned that by watching QI), it's to do with their emotianal state - or something.

Then this guy goes through a rainbow of emotions in this video. There's even a point where he's standing on three different colored sunglasses at the same time and has all three different colors in his skin.

It makes me wonder if he has to think about that or if it just happens naturally. It also makes me wonder how it works so I can genetically alter cotton to do the same thing so I can make clothes that automatically change color to whatever they touch.

EDIT: Now if only chameleons really worked that way!

To be honest, I don't know if this is real or not, since I don't know how chameleons work, but if this is really how they change colors, this is amazing!

Check out the video for more. Sorry that it's in WMV format. I got this video in an e-mail and that's how it came.

EDIT: After cursory research, I've found that chameleons don't really work this way. Sure would be cool if they did, though. :)

Having only seen the video and not read anything else about it, I'd have to say it's pretty good, especially for what I am assuming is "fan-fiction" about Gollum.

Nicely done.

Interesting. When I click the URL it pops up Firefox's download window as if it were trying to download something.

Anybody got a working link to the video now that it's May 3rd?

EDIT: This one works for me:

I don't understand how someone can come to this site asking about a "Quick Tray" type of software and nobody would think to recommend to them Mouser's LaunchBar Commander.

Of all the games in that list I haven't played, there is only one I regret missing: The Grim Fandango.

And I actually don't know much of anything about the game. It's just always looked interesting and fun(ny) to me.

Living Room / Re: Android phone - anyone using it?
« Last post by Deozaan on April 29, 2009, 12:47 AM »
I recently got a G1 and I really like it.

The biggest problem with the browser (and other internet functionality) is that unless you're connected to a WiFi (or maybe BlueTooth or 3G) connection, you've got download speeds close to that of a modem (i.e. not broadband). That is, downloading information through the cell phone towers is slow. But if you can connect to a WiFi hotspot, then it's great!

I'm not sure if Bluetooth or 3G would have significant improvements over the EDGE connection I get from the cell towers, since I don't have access to either BT or 3G in my location.

This paragraph is very telling:

As a final note regarding the Ask toolbar, feel free to install Comodo with all three checkboxes unselected and then download the Ask toolbar separately. When the download process is over, Comodo will detect the Ask toolbar as Unclassified Malware@8305287 and require confirmation for copying it to your download folder. Any other comments on this matter would be redundant.
