And that's what I get:
 (see attachment in previous post)
[Kindle price: $27.65]

$28.48 for the kindle version in Germany - from amazon.com
Roughly the equivalent price in euros when I go through amazon.de (or wait - it's actually a quarter cheaper :D)

What country are  you in/from?

Thank-you...

Ummm... Yes. Your price is ready now. Please spread your butt cheeks.

I was wondering that - is it a SubDiv question or a file-management-view question?

some file managers can do that -
there was a post lately http://www.freewareg...omparative-analysis/

Check out #6: UltraExplorer
‘Flatten folder’ view to see all files in the subfolders.

others there may do it as well (disclaimer: I havent used it myself - I mainly use Directory Opus file manager which can do this, but it costs a lot)

I know nothing about this stuff so thought I'd have a look - with the preview I'm bound to (maybe) learn a little :-[

I just copied all the sample syntax into the left pane and previewed it
a couple of very minor things struck me as odd (if I've completely misunderstood things there's no need to explain it all !):

1] Left pane says:
Preceded by a space, the colon
disappears. :
Preview says:
Preceded by a space, the colon disappears. :
but the colon is still there...

2] Left pane says:

showed as this in the preview (it may well be correct - I just presumed it should be a list):

I haven't looked at SpiderOak yet, but it looks like it is one folder dedicated to the app that it syncs - I need in-place folder sync.
-wreckedcarzz (June 07, 2011, 03:59 AM)

it isn't the case for backup - but it could be for sync.
Just had a quick look:
  • you select a folder to sync (any folder)
  • Also you can sync one folder to as many other folders as you want (just add path)
  • you can create as many 'syncs' as you want

edit/ in an attempt to be more articulate :)

Re InfoQube (IQ):
I'm a fairly basic user and am not familiar with any other comparable apps - but I'll chance a comment.

It's essentially a two pane outliner/database.
Grid/Outline (text, with html formatting possible) and the HTML pane, which contains rich-text/html + images (related to the items in the grid).

Drag n drop does not work the way you want it but
There are other methods:
  • Win+C - very easy :) copies selected text [& images] directly to the html pane (via a new item dialogue), title of window is used for the grid text, and the url is saved. By default it goes to an inbox grid but this can be changed from the dialogue, or later.
  • there's an extension for FF & IE so I can copy selected text or full pages via context menu or a button.

If you can live without the drag n drop aspect, all you other requirements are met.

Caveats might be that it's still is in Beta, the interface need work to make it more friendly. Some people do have difficulty at the beginning with it.
OTOH there is documentation which may be imperfect but is being improved all the time. You'll always get help quickly at the forum http://www.sqlnotes..../index.php?q=tracker. I've been using IQ for years for work stuff without losing anything and what with it being in development it's been updated a lot. It's portable too ;)

Anyone know? Or have an alternative?
-wreckedcarzz (June 06, 2011, 05:03 PM)

have a look at page 1 of this thread - f0dder makes a couple of posts about Spider Oak and Wraith talks about Jungle Disk (https://www.donation....msg245671#msg245671).
Both positive. I use Spider Oak but just for backup - it has trouble with databases but otherwise seems okay.

More about Spider oak here - SpiderOak - very nice people =)

-this is normal behaviour for the way Office works.

also in other programmes - Untitled 1 etc,
I presume they work up from "1" in one sitting/session and only go back down to 1 again when restarted

For the uninitiated - what are ye on about with "writing books" ??

...while writing our books...
...our entire Freshman year was spent reading and writing about 40 great books from that program...

and (with apologies) are these "Great Books" simply a bunch of books that they republished?

The download you mentioned is an older version (5.5.120), I downloaded it too after buying and using the download link in the email.

Go to the O&O website and download version 5.6.18

I think the naming is historical:

first came the 20 vol dictionary,
then the "Shorter" 3 vol one
- then they made a single volume one for the plebs and just called it the Oxford dictionary.

Note what they say here about the OED (Oxford English Dictionary)
The OED, on the other hand, is a historical dictionary and it forms a record of all the core words and meanings in English over more than 1,000 years, from Old English to the present day, and including many obsolete and historical terms. Meanings are ordered chronologically in the OED, according to when they were first recorded in English, so that senses with the earliest evidence of usage appear first and more recent senses appear further down the entry – like a ‘family tree’ for each word.
from http://oxforddictionaries.com/page/oed

they are comparing the OED with the ODO - but dont explain what the ODO is...
*shakes head*

you're looking at images in the viewer and you see one you want to open in your image editor - you have to take note of the name, go back to the main window, find the file. A simple open [current image in viewer] in external app, or even just copy filepath would solve this.

Drag the viewer's window icon (top-left of the titlebar) on to your image editor.

okay, that's the best solution yet. I always use the viewer as a maximised window and dont actually have shortcuts to photoshop anywhere accessible, so it requires having photoshop open and dragging to the taskbar. I have a dopus 'taskbar' as well, I'll try adding a shortcut to pshop there.

Problems zooming into images - on my machine I often cant get over 200%

It only happens when zooming very large images and does not happen on newer versions of Windows, so it's a pretty low-priority issue for us now. It is still on the list, but requires some low-level changes to how the viewer works and it's under a pile of other to-do items.

1) it actually happens on (almost) all images here - normally I wouldnt notice myself, because I wouldnt want to zoom to 400% of a crappy 72dpi A4 scan ;)

2) I am very unhappy with this response - you're saying it's the OS. XP is supported by microsoft till 2014, that's almost another three years.
I wonder how many XP users do dopus have? . . .

[edit]  toned it down a bit :-\ [/edit]

The titles they use for all the different variations of the Oxford English Dictionary are very confusing.
as you say:
http://wordweb.info/ordering.html#
click on "Show All" (dictionaries), there are two Oxfords:

Oxford Dictionary of English
3rd edition, includes audio pronunciations
($29)

and

Shorter Oxford English Dictionary
Our most authoritative offering, a third of the full 20-volume OED.
($49)

is that a bit of an English understatement - calling the medium dictionary the Shorter one.... a three volume dictionary isn't bad :)
I presume the first above is the "standard" one volume dictionary
I can see the attraction of the full 20 vol. one but wouldnt want it enough myself...

-word lists are for word finding and use with Crossword Compiler (only?)
sorry, I forgot what it is that I have!  :-[
Word list are (also) names of cities and countries etcetera

ah, okay, thanks Curt - so it's mainly for checking the spelling, I guess.
Seems to me I'd be more interested in the 'bare' pro version ($19) plus a full dictionary like the Oxford one, so will probably pass on the bdj offer.

General Software Discussion / Re: WordWeb
« Last post by tomos on June 01, 2011, 03:41 PM »
-it is merely another $29

the bdj offer says:
"today's deal includes WordWeb Pro as well as all optional additional word lists (a $59 value)"

does that mean the "Shorter Oxford English Dictionary
Our most authoritative offering, a third of the full 20-volume OED
" is included?

EDIT/ I see from the page I linked to that wordlists are different from dictionaries - will now have to go see what exactly a word list is :)

[Next edit] no definition anywhere of a word list - can anyone explain what it is?

I have DOpus viewer as default programme for all images, but can it be the case that I dont have to, in order for the viewer to be the default image viewer from within dopus?
Will experiment. I suspect a Catch22 situation but may well be wrong. ~ note to self: must stop having negative expectations ;-)

I double L click on image file in dopus and it opens it up in viewer, I right click on the the image in viewer and it gives me the open option which takes me to my default image opening program.

thanks Dormouse - unfortunately it's not working here:
I've tried setting a few different editors as default image-opener (just testing on jpegs so far), and restarting dopus just in case. The image opens in the viewer okay, then right-click >Open shows the file selected in an open dialogue - clicking open in the dialogue has no effect.
I've had problems before with system default 'open' programmes and dopus default programmes being different, but just checked and that seems ok...

Also problems with one bit Tiffs only showing as an enlarged thumbnail. Again, yet to be reported officially but reported in the Dopus forum here.
Haven't checked this.

that's confirmed, I'm going to report it today.
