I've noticed that pushing "w" jumps without changing the blocks.  8)
ha!!!
you found a cheat!
and it let me "beat" the game finally.. but damn what a lame ending-- nothing happens !!

Nothing happens? Something should be happening...

Oh, and Note to self: Never let Cyeb or Mouser handle legal paperwork for me. They obviously don't read the fine print!

Not sure if it's available for instant watch, but I figure something like Star Trek: The Next Generation would have several years worth of video to waste your time on. And it was back in the day when TV shows had a moral to the story.

Any chance you can do this with exe too? :P Just kidding.

Again, awesome utility here.

EXE: use your favourite archiver. WinRAR, WinZIP, WinACE, 7Zip all do SFXs
As soon as I get ASP to work there will be an ASP version (will prolly involve two files instead of one tho)

Er.. What I meant was EXE2PHP. So I could execute an executable on a server via PHP. But like I said it was a joke. ;)

Thanks ewemoa and f0dder for testing the non-ASCII problem. Unfortunately I think that's a problem with the game engine I used and I have no idea how I'd fix that. But at least we know the problem and the workaround.

It also creates a "Craven Entertainment" folder in \Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data. Please update uninstall instructions.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I've updated the uninstall instructions.

Can anyone who is running Vista confirm that the directory I listed is correct? That's where the directory is created in Windows 7 but I'm not sure if Vista differs.

I hope you don't mind that I doctored the file paths.  Sorry for the paranoia.

I don't mind.

It makes me wonder if it's the non-ascii directory names that are messing it up. Would you please try creating a non-ascii directory somewhere you have tried Leap of Faith that worked and test to see if it still works or not?

And I take it by the path tree that you're running Windows XP?

"Leap Of Faith"  Assassin's Creed!  (I am currently playing it)

I haven't played Assassin's Creed, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I feel quite certain that this year will either be the best year of my life or perhaps one of the most frustrating, despiriting, crushing years of my life.

I'm trying to make take as my personal motto something inscribed on a ring my brother brought home from Spain many years ago: "Mas que ayer, menos que manana." Which basically means, "More than yesterday, less than tomorrow." Or in other words, every day is better than the last.

All I have to do today is be a little bit better than I was yesterday and I think that is success.

Congratulations to all who pledged and followed through with a submission!

Thanks to all of those who supported NANY coders with feedback, publicity, and other volunteer work.

A special thanks to Gothi[c] for handling the website/redmine/hosting/admin aspect of NANY.

A great deal of thanks to Perry for all of his time and effort organizing and handling all of the behind the scenes details of this year's NANY.

And a hugenormously giganterriffic thanks to Mouser, without whom DonationCoder, and by extension NANY, would not exist to bless our lives with it's great community, great software, and great people.

Defense Grid is currently 75% off ($2.50) on Steam today only (for 16 more hours). This is one of the best TD games I've played and it's a steal for $2.50!

As I said on the last sale, if you haven't gotten it yet, but have the slightest inkling that you might be interested in it, for $2.50 you can't go wrong.

If I extract the zip file with the resulting folder living on my Desktop (non-English system), I get a dialog box w/ title:

The game runs fine from me when putting the folder on my Desktop.

Could you attach your console.log file when you get this error? Just rename it to console.log.txt and you can attach it to your post.

NANY Final Release is now up.

Changes:
  • Something special happens when you reach the goal.
  • Changed randomization to make it easier to jump. No more blocks appearing directly above your head.
  • Other various tweaks/fixes

I'd also like to say thanks for making the screencast for me. However the title of the game is spelled incorrectly on the YouTube page. Whoever is in charge of the YouTube account, will you please correct that for me? Thanks!

New version of the game uploaded! Nowhere near as complete as I'd like, so there will be several more releases over the next few days.

But at least you get a couple of new levels!

Please let me know how the framerate looks, particularly for level 2.

Happy New Year all!

Framerate was almost always at 48, though strangely the game felt slower on the levels with the spinning bars. I had anti-aliasing on and didn't try it without anti-aliasing.

Also, somehow I went from level 1, to level 2, to level 5.

And I entered my name when I started, but when I stopped playing I was back to New Player, and the High Score wasn't what the game told me. The game told me I was in the 800,000s but the high score list only showed 700,000 something.

It's a fun game!

Why I think you should use this product
If you are tired of non-universal DRM, and having to swap DVDs and keep track of stacks of DVDs and dealing with scratched media, then Steam makes all of these go away for the most part.  The other aspects are just gravy- that's the primary use of the service.

Just thought I'd mention that this little tidbit is from the GoG review.

Thanks for the good info. It's a useful guide (so far).

Cool game so far, even though I'm only getting 32 fps. It made me late for work yesterday  >:(

Er... ah. Sorry. How's your framerate if you turn off the antialiasing?

I'm also getting a near-constant framerate of 32 fps with or without anti-aliasing.

Bug report:

After losing all my balls and clicking Retry, the bumpers all put themselves into place and when the ball launcher showed up again, the animations played from the last game, showing a few bumpers disappear and the numbers head to high score corner.

The bumpers themselves didn't actually disappear, and my score didn't actually go up, but the animations played.

In fact, it just happened again when I successfully completed a level and clicked "Continue" except in this case the score did raise because it was still counting up from the last level.

Have you sussed out what each colour bumper does?

Maybe.

Red: You must touch all of these to beat the level.
Blue: Other bumpers.
Green: Random power-up.
Purple: Lots of extra points.

You did change the settings to Netbook mode?

Yes, it was the first thing I did.

You can find me as me (Deozaan) pretty much everywhere I have an account these days. When it comes to gaming hubs, I mostly stick to Steam, though with no internet at home I'm likely somewhere on my Netbook (not playing games) if you see me signed into Steam.

On the other hand, a game release that late won't have the time to make much of an impact in 2009, so in a way I guess it's fair enough? As long as it has a chance to get on the 2010 list...

I suppose so.

I know of one game that's coming out on Dec 26th that is high on my radar of games to check out.

Which one?

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers - Though this 10 best list is for PC games and this particular game is for Wii.

It even runs decent on my Netbook!

I read in the FAQ that it runs on Netbooks so I downloaded the demo and tried it out. Well... it did run, but it was not a pleasant experience for me. It was way too choppy and slow. I guess your mileage may vary when it comes to netbook play.

I might have purchased it for $5 but I missed it. Rats!
