You could go visit CoolSoft and have a look at SpeechVibe.  The normal price is $46 but until the end of September there is a %40 rebate (from here only) with this coupon code only: ASP104 (thanks, Gautam) - making it $25.

I may want to have this program, but I have a feeling that it is a little 'overkill' ? I mean; I have just been reading about the registry editor Reg Organizer from chemtable, and it too will offer to take a snapshot before and after any new install, and then offer to delete any changes - meaning it will totally uninstall...

Read about it HERE and if you like it, you can have a modest 20% rebate from this link (thanks, Gautam) - making it $32. Copy this coupon code: ASP-WDLO

It is a very fine registry editor, you should really all check it out:up:

wreckedcarzz; forgive me not being able to visualize what you have described. Do you mind posting a screenshot of your start menu, please?

I was surprised to read that spybot can prevent, as I thought it will only offer to clean up the mess after the damage has been done. Maybe my (lack of) memory is confusing me, but will spybot offer more prevention than:
Permanent blocking of threatening ActiveX downloads
Permanent blocking of known tracking cookies for IE
Permanent blocking of threating downloads in IE
:tellme:

I have been using Outpost Pro for several years, but are not going to get the new Suite within the next year (at least), because the anti-virus part is based on Kaspersky - and my NOD32 license runs for yet another year ... :-)

Did you consider a virtual solution? It may remove the need for a firewall.

You don't have to trust AVG too much on this; I am confident it was a false positive!

DcUpdater / Re: LATEST VERSION INFO THREAD - DcUpdater - 1.12.05 - JUN 30, 2007
« Last post by Curt on July 11, 2007, 08:19 AM »
Could it have a line in the context menu saying Introduce to DCUpdater, (or whatever), so I can click any installed program's folder, and DCUpdater will both check and remember this program?

When I first ran filehippo it found some twenty updates, and I was so excited. But of course the very next thought was how to update the 300 other programs? I believe the implied full DCUpdater can fill an enormous gap, if it turns out also to be simple to use!

- of course you all answered the question in mind, but I really don't care, because masu was right when saying "I couldn't found any alternatives" - meaning there are no alternatives to find because Babylon is The Best. I believe  Ultralingua to be fine, but of course it can never be "far superior" to the best, can it - even if it should happen that it actually is better than The Best...

Sorry, for being in such a mood for war! I have just spend FOUR hours copying and moving, what should have been done in less than half an hour. I really need a better PC. And this frustation I had to take out on you. Please, forgive me!  :-

Its late at night around here, so Good Night - and may peace be with you...  :D

Damm it, guys!     What about trying to answeer the question? Shame on you!  :D  - and you, Nighted!!! :o You should know a lot better than to call the inferior superior!
don't ever tell me that I have wasted my money! :P  I loooove my Balylon and you have nothing that can compare to it.  ;)

Sorry, I just jad to get something off my back.  :-[

General Software Discussion / Re: Pink Floyd - Painted Ladies: Wow!
« Last post by Curt on July 10, 2007, 06:35 PM »
i'm curious as to what is painted on their fronts  :P

I hope: nothing! Did you notice that The Wall-girl looks more attractive than the others? At least she does to me. I imagine this is because I can see the details of her body, which I can't with the others. The details are apparently what gives the extra touch. So hopefully nothing is painted on the bright side, ehh, front side of the girls.

My faves are DSOTM and TW, and only a handfull of tracks from various other albums. Yes, "albums"! - the CD is such a new invention...

Yes, I noticed, but I already had it...

 8)

Carol, do you ever go to the second-hand bookshop; the antiquarian bookshop to sell your old books, or to buy some old / used books? Maybe you do; I do. Did you ever stop and think that this book should bring more royalties to the author? I didn't. I look at these poor quality videos in the same way: They are to be compared with old, used books, and should be FREE - because of the poor quality.

Edit: Bad phrasing - I didn't invent a wheel, did I -
the picture has been around for many years; I've just never seen it before.
But the video is still awesome!

General Software Discussion / Pink Floyd - Painted Ladies: Wow!
« Last post by Curt on July 10, 2007, 08:53 AM »
I fooled around at Stage6 and came across this homemade video about six Pink Floyd covers. The video is called Pink Floyd - Painted Ladies.

Wow!   :-*  :)

I didn't really care for the music he had chosen; I would choose differently. Pink Floyd had made a lot of music that I like, but also some that I don't. But the way this guy has made the video appear, is nothing less but awesome! You really must watch it! The teaser itself will make you want to!:

PinkFloyd_PaintedLadies (WinCE).JPG

But when the video is starting you might think that something is wrong, because the screen is all black for a long time. But this is intended. Oh, yes, it is intended. This guy has class, and you will have to be patient and wait for the goodies. The video is 9.20 minutes and 76 MB divx. You can have cheap flash version at uTube or buy the $6 poster at teesmeonline, or see the image at the Turk's place as an illustration to Martha's Song!

I wanted to save this picture to disk, but couldn't. The screen capture would deliver an all black image. Hmmm. I have so many programs but none that could handle this problem. So off I went to the Internet to look for yet another program to install. It really took some time, because the first couple of programs could not deliver what they promised, but finally I found a little something that would extract the images in an okay quality from the video. It is the Video Decompiler from the terrible site Software Club (to disable their sound: scroll all down and look to the left), but can also be downloaded from programurl - and is FREE and easy to use:

VideoDecompilerMainWindow.jpg  VideoDecompilerVideoInformation.jpg

It took a couple of hours to extract the images because I didn't check the settings properly before starting and so extracted every tenth image (1,600)! Certainly not a methode I will use again.

Then I had to merge three of these pictures into one, and remembered the $10 Zoner Panorama Maker I had for free at GAOTD. And it did the job perfectly: 3 became 1 (use zoom 300) and now you can see the beautiful result (but be warned: it is 2099 x 782 pixels and 367 KB):
