LaunchBar Commander / Re: Bug with filenames (accented characters)

That's interesting regarding folders working.. I was going to say that LBC just doesn't support unicode paths, but if its working for folders that's strange.  It may be a difference between how windows itself translates certain characters.  There's probably a way to refer to the file paths enocded in a way that LBC can reach them..

Living Room / Re: Taste testing 80% Dark Chocolate

I think I have reached an important discovery about testing dark chocolate.  Which is that no dark chocolate bar in isolation is "best"..  You can only really taste the subtle good flavors of a dark chocolate bar in contrast with other different bars.. So you really need to rotate through different bars in order to appreciate any one of them.

My updated ratings with some normalized nutrition info that helps in comparing different bars:

How strange.

First things to check would be:
1. Does it happen if you disable the auto copy to clipboard feature of SC.
2. Does it happen regardless of whether you use keyboard hotkey or menu to trigger a capture.

Programs like Files2Folders by skwire are "portable" applications that don't actually "install" (or need to uninstall).. you simply put them on your disk in a place you want them to live and launch them from there.  You can make your own shortcuts on your start menu to them.

I've been fooling around recently using Zoom to record discussions and remote board game play, and thinking about how to make that video suitable for uploading to a youtube channel.

Here's a little tip for cleaning up the Zoom recorded video and cropping out unnesc. space using the free open source commandline tool ffmpg.

Original video recorded by zoom looks like this:
zoomorig.jpg

FFMPEG script:
ffmpeg.exe -i zoomin.mp4 -filter_complex "[0:v]crop=iw/2.666666:ih/2:iw/16:ih/4[tl]; [0:v]crop=iw/2.666666:ih/2:iw/1.777777:ih/4[br]; [tl][br]hstack=inputs=2" -codec:a copy zoomout.mp4

Result:
QuarantineCoop.jpg

Basically it tells ffmpeg to form a new frame by selecting out each of the two images and then combining them side by side.  You could use similar ffmpeg command to stack them on top of each other, etc.

ffmpg seems super useful and powerful, I'm sure there's other cool stuff you could do with it.

I've walked past the 100% cacao bars in the store and my basic reaction is this:

You can tell Screenshot Captor itself to open after each capture, where you can see your image in a large view and do things with it, etc.
Screenshot - 6_23_2020 , 4_23_20 PM.png

If instead what you really want is for Screenshot Captor to stay completely minimized and open a different program with each screenshot after the screenshot has been taken, you could use this option:

But I'm open to the idea of adding an option that says to open the screenshot in the default viewer after each capture if that's something people want.

Glad to hear someone is using it!

Pressing Enter to open an image like double clicking seems natural -- I'll add it.

Can you take a screenshot showing the small fonts?

Here are my rankings so far:

Those scores are very likely to change when I do my re-tasting of all the top items, since my tastebuds are still adapting and learning.

Living Room / Taste testing 80% Dark Chocolate
« Last post by mouser on June 21, 2020, 09:15 AM »
I have a wicked sweet tooth and I've always thought that dark chocolate tastes like poison.

Over the last few months I've been drastically cutting down on my consumption of sweets, and decided to see if dark chocolate would taste better to my "recalibrated" tastebuds.

To my delight it does!

So I've been on a quest to try all the dark chocolate bars I can find (locally) that are 80% and above, and see which I prefer.

Anyone have any favorite 80% and above dark chocolate bars?  Shall we share ratings?

What x16wda said.  On every post and every thread, there will be a little gold coin next to each participants name.  Just click that and choose how much to send them!
The amount rarely matters, it's the thought that counts!

I'd like to know more about such tools myself -- especially ones where you can save and load batches of replacements.

This is a reminder to myself if nothing else.  Just spent an hour installing useless software and trying to figure out why my videocamera was not letting me transfer files.
In the end I realized I was using a USB cord that is ONLY meant for charging (one of those with multiple heads of different formats).
UGH what a wasted hour of my life.
As soon as I connected a proper mini usb cable everything worked fine.

Finished Programs / Re: SOLVED: Quick toggle some monitors
« Last post by mouser on June 17, 2020, 03:29 PM »
Got it working.
Problem solved.

The GUI was useful as the monitor #s were not what one would expect.
The SwitchOnOff commandline option worked imperfectly to toggle the monitors (one monitor was not toggling back on properly), so I used 2 hotkeys in AHK, one to turn the monitors off, and another to turn them back on.

I have a 4-monitor pc setup.  Occasionally when I watch a full screen movie or play a game, I'd like to turn off all but one of my monitors.
I'd love a little system tray utility with a hotkey (and right-click menu?) that could toggle a configurable set of my monitors on and off.

something like that could work.. another option would be to find a small flat metal piece, and modify the 3d gear print to have an indentation where i could lay it in to be the bottom of the D bore -- since thats the place thats getting worn down.

With the new gear I also printed it a bit smaller/tighter fit so I had to hammer on the piece to the spoke -- and then baked it with it on the metal spoke, hopefully shrinking it even further to fit the D shape spoke.  I'm hoping that will help.

I have had to do 4 corrective solders of the very thin motor wires from taking this whole thing apart so many times.. At some point I am going to have to give up the battle but it's a bit like avoiding covid-19 at this point -- I feel like it's a game and to give up would be to admit defeat...

My 3d printed replacement gear failed yesterday, after a few weeks.

I thought maybe the teeth had broken, but opening it up it was clear what happened -- the D bore in the center had deformed into a circle and so the gear was slipping.

This gear undergoes some pretty strong forces against it and PLA is not made for such stuff.

I've reprinted it, making it as thick as I dare, and then "baked" it in oven for an hour, which people have documented can strengthen prints.

I'll see how long it holds up..

Seems reasonable enough.

It would even be fine if "Mark as favorite" could be a choice in the "quick actions" section of the quick paste pop-up.
If you right click (or shift+click) on an item in quick paste menu, its the first option in the next menu that shows.
