I think one the image processing tools by our member vlastimil can help you get your workflow/batch process right: http://www.rw-designer.com/software
For uploading there are many available, usually dependent on the service you want to use, I didn't research that.

Are there drawbacks/dangers that I am not considering?
The way I've replaced servers was in 2 similar ways:
1) Build the new server on a different url, copying/converting the data as much as possible, then stop the original server(service), copy/convert the last differences, and bring up the new server on the original url. Reverting is as easy as stopping the new server and re-enabling the old.
2) Build the new server off-line on the same version of the software, then stop the original server, copy all data to the new server, start the new server and get it running, stop it when all is fine, then upgrade to the latest version of software, bring the new server it back on-line (mostly to major-upgrade the OS and application 'big bang'). reverting is again a stop and restart-the-old action.
Both require DNS changes, but setting the ttl to 5 minutes for a couple of hours before starting the procedures makes that a no-brainer.

These methods are closely similar, and the choice depends mostly on the application and OS involved (Even Linux 'upgrades' are sometimes done better by a re-install), and it will also test your installation and maintenance -documentation and -procedures (it was usually a 3-man operation when we did that, and everyone is/should be replaceable..., hence testing the docs and procs ;))

Werner,

I see you got it while I was typing this message, but for other new readers:

After you login to the forum and then re-opening the Keys page, you should see your license key displayed (a block/blurb of seemingly random characters). Then follow the steps below the license key to get it into any Mouser app for the application registration to be completed.

General Software Discussion / Re: Windows 10 Announced
« Last post by Ath on October 22, 2017, 04:39 AM »
Well, very nice how the automatic update to Win10 FCU went this time (no recovery needed, au contraire to previous large Win10 updates :tellme:), downloaded and installed in a little over an hour or so. And all is mostly working fine after the update.

Just 1 major glitch though: My installed, and fully up to date, Avast AV (free) was completely uninstalled, without any notice whatsoever :o . Reinstalled it, of course had to re-configure disabling some silly/undesirable defaults, and all is fine again, but as previously stated, it would have been quite helpful if the Windows Update tool had reported that the original AV was removed in the process, and why. But it didn't >:(

Thanks but no thanks, Microsoft. >:(

Non-Windows Software / Re: Google Play Store Android updates not new

I'd clear out the cache on the phones/tablets and see if the problem persists.

Developer's Corner / Re: MySQL Syntax Question
« Last post by Ath on October 18, 2017, 10:32 AM »
I'd say its just lazy/stupid programming, assuming (something like "database design"...) that 'id' is of numeric type, so LIKE isn't going to work on that anyways, ever. (unless when using this kludge...)

Non-Windows Software / Re: Backup my data
« Last post by Ath on October 06, 2017, 06:36 AM »
Assuming you have another system already (Mac or Windows?) you should network them together (avoid using WiFi on any end, wired is the most reliable and fastest way) and copy/move the files across. It will take time though, that's quite inevitable.

Very intriguing essay indeed. I'm, in my new job, trying to map this story to the way software is developed here since around 10 years, and I have found a fair bit of overlap already. Motivating stuff

Having a few spare, charged batteries available when I travel is a real plus.  I can go longer without having the phone tethered to a wall socket.  I recently went on a week-long camping trip, and with four spare batteries on hand (that combined still weighed less than an external phone-charging battery) I never needed to worry about trying to find some place to charge my phone overnight.
Well, that's a valid argument indeed, but I'd expect needing that on camping trips only. And I don't do camping trips ;D

The removable battery was one of the key features for me.
Do you keep a replacement battery in store? Or is there another argument for having a removable battery?

Contro! what the he#%& are you thinking! posting 8 replies in 41 minutes in 1 thread to old posts (smartphones are _old_ after 12 months).

You have been asked several times politely, and sometimes a little less subtle, to *think* before you start writing a reply, and think *again* before hitting the post button. Most subjects you address have been answered and discussed 'ages' ago!
Please keep your promises to improve yourself in this matter, this posting-frenzy isn't helping anyone.

The special character has to be available in the font you are using. Not all fonts have the entire unicode character set.

I don't know exactly. Appear in Mouse post. But I suppose is sensible or privative information or information that third persons may use.
Usually are the metadata, but I don't know if Mouser includes something else.
I fail to see how mouser is involved here or in your request... he didn't even post in this thread (yet).

The term 'sensitive information' is IMHO too broad to be generalized into a 'simple tool', that's why I ask for context and more details. You haven't really clarified anything yet.

What isn't too obvious in the menu, is that you can click on every level in the menu and get to see the page from that point on, allowing to navigate deeper down if desired. Then the sluggishness is extra confusing, as it seems nothing happens after clicking...
Removing that huge menu structure is going to take away that confusion I guess  though giving feedback after clicking would still be really nice.

(Yes, I've been on that actual test-environment :P)
The menu used does seem a bit sluggish in some places. May have to do with the soft-scroll it seems to use, but after clicking an item there is no feedback, like the menu closing, it just waits a couple of hundred milliseconds and then the menu disappears and immediately the page shows. That last part is fine :), but the extra feedback of the menu closing immediately and the page taking a few hundred milliseconds to show is a more natural feeling, IMHO.

Please describe exactly what 'sensitive' means, related to the context that makes it sensitive. :-\
624
Could this be a provider-related issue? Maybe something in their cache fouled up?
What AV are you using? Have you tried turning it off before starting the download?
