Living Room / Re: Send me on a click adventure

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kierkegard

Kierkegard qualifies as off the beaten path, that not many people know about? How about Platow? Nietschew? Marxw?

They're all in the "Western Philosophy" category.

I don't think any of these guys have blogs.  :-\

Try Rodney Dangerfield.  He's dead but he still may be bloggin'.  Still has more of a sense of humor than you guys.

I think, therefore I don't feel like existing.

I just ran into this one today.  The guy is a barrel of laughs:

All I know is if I hit the SuperGigaZillaBucks or whatever they call it, I wouldn't be on TV saying "even though I now have 20 $Billion I'm going to keep my job at the Post Office because I love pushing the mail around that comes in on the conveyor belt."

I have actually thought about this, and I would keep my current job, if I won the lottery - I like what I do, and the people I do it with.

If $20Billion doesn't change your thinking, I guess you wouldn't play in the first place. I mean, what's the point?

it only works erratically here, no matter which setting (also FF 3.6.6)
it will work for a while and then not - no obvious logic to it...

Doesn't work for me at all in Chrome, even if I disable AutoCopy.

Men Who Stare At Goats

Since Starman I guess I get sucked into quirky [url=http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000313/[/url]Jeff Bridges films.

It is more like, will I ever win something in my life after entering so many things.   :D     Maybe some day!!

Very simple (since I know lots of DC members are against Facebook), all you have to do is leave a comment on the blog post on why you want it and what you'll do with it.  Couldn't be easier.

I have one suggestion.  They should award me a copy so that I can come back here and testify it ain't one of those contests where nobody really wins anything.  ;)

Works for me IF I have the "look and layout" options in my profile preferences set to
Use quick reply on topic display: show, off by default.
That allows me to quote part of a line.

Quoting was erratic when I had it set to "don't show at all",  or "show, on by default" .

(Firefox 3.6.6)

I looked in preferences and didn't see it, prolly cuz it wasn't in the check box list. Now I have it!  Thanks. :)

As a follow-up, this no longer seems to work.  Tried it in both Chrome and Firefox.  Also when I do a Quote it seems all I can get is Quick Reply. I don't see any button to switch to Advanced mode.

The most amusing flick I've seen in awhile is District 9

Marrying the boss's daughter does have its perils.

Ou yeah, specially if daddy is some kind of capo di tutti capi :D

Another one that I can watch over and over is Shaolin Soccer

This flick got me hooked on Stephen Chow films. I think it's still his best work. Total genius.

edit: but you have to make sure you watch the 112 minute version.  There's a shorter version out there.  This version eviscerates the film by cutting out the entire funny sequence when Vicki Zhao Wei shows off her make-over. There are some other differences that change the whole gist of the film afa motivation and character development.  Looking on Net Flix it seems the one they have is the 87 minute crap version.

However I believe the good cut was used for the BluRay.

This film gets to me right from the intro with the homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey
(another of my all-time favorites.)

This one looks like it has the bases covered:

edit: btw if you want a different default string, just change "Manual Restore Point" to "my default string".  This way you can still back out by pressing Cancel.

The one I liked was the automatic top hat tipper. No need to reach up to the brim. If you were the first on your block to have the automatic top hat tipper in your top hat, you merely inclined your head slightly and the mechanism would do the rest!!

PromptHere v. 2.4 Smoothed application of the blur effect so that the prompt doesn't show black, then change color. The blur behind is active when it appears.

PromptHere v. 2.3 Now you can hotkey on the Desktop to get a prompt if it is the "active window."  The default directory for the prompt when clicking the desktop is C:\ but you may set it using "DesktopDir" setting in .ini file.

PromptHere v. 2.2 Added .ini file option UseGlass.  May be set to 0 to disable blur behind glass effect on Vista/Windows Seven. Set it to 1 (the default) to enable.

edit: btw, the download includes ahk source to MilesAhead.ahk, which has misc. functions including _EnableBlurBehind() and _GlassEnabled() used by the app, and PromptHere.ahk.  Also there's a Readme file and the program icon.

PromptHere 2.1 The Glass feature of 7prompt has been incorporated into PromptHere.exe.  The prompts snap up faster since an external exe no longer needs to be launched(other than cmd.exe that is.)

Thanks to Michael Michta for showing me the way to EnableBlurBehind() in AutoIt3.
I translated the function to ahk for use in PromptHere.

« Last post by MilesAhead on July 10, 2010, 04:06 PM »
PromptHere 2.0 now includes an AutoIt3 program called 7prompt by Michael Michta, that I modified with permisson of the author.  If running on Vista or Windows Seven with Glass enabled, the command prompts feature glass "blur behind" semi-transparency.

Version 2.0 is on my site for download now.  Softpedia should update early next week.

Just did a run burning in an .srt sub!!  Came out nice!!

Well I guess if you are paying the lawyers all that money anyway, you have to keep them employed doing something until the lawsuits show up.  :-\

Which is why many people argue against having a full-time legislature.  ;)

Now we can burn in subtitles instead of messing around with external .srt files and OCR.

I haven't tried it yet.  Next job with full subs I'll run it through.

Hi MilesAhead,

Thanks for the bug report.  :)
The "Remove Missing Links" bug is fixed as of Version 11.20. Update appearing soon.

I'm not familiar with RocketDock but I'll check it out when I get a chance.

It's good to know you've got great taste in music!

The RocketDock thing seemed weird.  I don't know why a folder association would disconnect for one folder and not the other.  But in any case I hope the info helps a bit.  :)
5925
Hmmmmm, I noticed some side effects with RocketDock.  I have a shortcut to my download folder.  It was in the (Buzz) list.  I did Control Click to quick download from my browser.  After that when I clicked on the download folder shortcut in RocketDock it asked me what program to use to open it. The folder shortcut right next to it in RocketDock still worked.  I have to assume it's a side effect from the Buzz utility running.

I don't think I've ever tried a utility that added gizmos to the Explorer window that didn't have some unpleasant side-effect that prompted me to remove it.
