Beneath the hood it's quite nice. I don't even have a problem with a flat look. (I actually prefer it. All my personal Nix boxes are set up with minimalist themes and flat icons.)Yeah, the flat more minimal look is great, functional. If Metro was removed then it would basically be Win7 plus. I wish Microsoft would have taken the boatload of money likely spent on Metro and instead given it all to... Mouser! MS should have simply brought in FARR and used it as start menu replacement.
Just give us the option to permanently disable Metro - and ditch all the cloud nonsense they try to steer you into during the installation - and I'd recommend it without hesitation.-40hz (December 21, 2012, 01:42 PM)

Download libjpeg-turbo-1.3.0-gcc.exe (for 64bit get gcc64.exe) or newer and unzip the exe (with 7-zip) and browse to the \bin subfolder and copy jpegtran.exe and libjpeg-62.dll and place next to BookCrop.exe Run BookCrop.exe |

I just want to keep Win7 because I have some unsupported old software that already has trouble running on Win7, so I'd imagine it's unlikely those software would suddenly run better on Win8...What software? Maybe someone here is familiar with it and can say if it works on Windows 8. Extremely useful, since Sumatra doesn't lock in .pdf files, allowing editing and viewing at the same time.Nice! I just tested it with a pdf in Sumatra and editor side by side. And indeed as soon as changes are saved in the editor they immediately appear in Sumatra. ).I think it could be designed to avoid speed-problems in many use cases. First, the hashing would only be done for identical file names in source and target folder. Second, the user could configure how large files to do the automatic hash check for, depending on system speed and user preference. For example if the operation only ran for same named files under 100 Megabytes in size then would there really be any problematic slowdown on computer with a newish CPU? If you are copying thousands of files with name conflicts then yes, delays will add up. But a smart file manager could also calculate the total number of such conflicts prior to operation and, if the number reaches some upper limit, skip auto hashing and display the regular interaction popups (including the checkbox labelled something like "do this action for all similar files"). So smartly designed it could avoid the possible slow-down cases and still save the user time and attention in all other cases.A smarter file manager would do a file hash comparison and skip copying that file if the hashes match, all in the background.That would be pretty disastrous speed-wise - definitely not something you want for a general file-copying routine-Nod5 (August 12, 2012, 04:44 AM)-f0dder (August 12, 2012, 11:24 AM)
