BUT, the time it'd take to change the looks would probably be better spent in improving other parts of farr, at the expense of losing some "costumers" because of the looks.
jgpaiva was spot-on with this point. before the days of plugins in Farr, i was tempted to use Launchy not because of the looks but because there was a plugin for searching Firefox bookmarks. this plugin feature has been implemented in Farr since then and has expanded to several other useful plugins.. and also that Farr allows me tweak more than other launchers is another appeal, this is my personal opinion, of course.. :)

You can download the scrapture program - a tiny sreen capture tool - it is what requires AltShift3
http://www.stereopsis.com/scrapture/
why not use ScreenshotCaptor where the hotkeys are configurable to your liking?

I have an nVidia 8800GTS running both XP and Vista. I also have AutoHotKey installed. How would I capture the keystrokes to provide you?
you can just write-down or use screenshots to explain what are the title of windows that appears and the name of the buttons that you click to achieve the result (i.e. disable the 2nd monitor)..

with Autohotkey, you can emulate the mouse-clicks that toggles the 2nd display.. i don't have a 2nd monitor to test this but if you can provide the keystrokes/mouse-clicks involved then i may be able to make a script with it.. e.g. the following code will partially help you by opening the display properties & click on "advanced settings".. :)

Run, RunDLL32.EXE shell32.dll`,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl`,`,3 ; Show the Settings tab in Display Properties
WinWait, Display Properties
ControlClick, Ad&vanced, Display Properties ; Open Advanced Properties
Return

edbro, i think you have an existing nircmd alias under the name "cmd", if i'm not mistaken.. disable that alias then the new one will be ok.. :)

since StrokeIt, Volumouse & Katmouse are all mouse-related, looking up at the AHK forums could be helpful.. but i do have a lot of programs running in my systray, that's why i started a "Must-have apps in the System tray?" thread.. :)

General Software Discussion / Re: Windows firefox edition... I guess

another program that is similar to this: Jedi Window Dock. :)

You can dock all your putty sessions together, put all of your instant message conversations on tabs, or perhaps you manage a ton of remote desktop sessions... All of these windows need not take up space on your taskbar any longer! Software Jedi to the rescue.

Any application, with the exception of console apps, can be docked. Some strange behavior has been reported with a couple of apps but it works fine for most.
After docking, you can right click the active tab and close the application - or undock it, which pops it out of the tabbed frame.

i hardly use word-count programs but this one looks good. i might just d/l and try it, anyway to answer your question, try FineCount v2.5.. comes in free and pro version. :)

A reliable aid for freelance translators, translation managers, agencies - for professionals who base their quotations and invoices on document text analysis and count (characters, spaces, words, lines, pages, repetitions). FineCount saves your time - with several clicks you can prepare project estimations and customer-ready invoices that can be further customized at your own will. An essential software supports different document formats - MS Word, HTML, PDF and others.

General Software Discussion / Re: old software + dual core = ???
« Last post by lanux128 on July 13, 2007, 08:13 PM »
if you are into gaming, it may be necessary to install the AMD Dual-Core optimizer so that games don't crash.

here's what AMD says about the patch..
The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video performance by compensating for those applications that bypass the Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp Counter) instruction. Applications that rely on RDTSC do not benefit from the logic in the operating system to properly account for the affect of power management mechanisms on the rate at which a processor core's Time Stamp Counter (TSC) is incremented. The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience on dual-core processor systems, by periodically adjusting the core time-stamp-counters, so that they are synchronized.
