This has just been listed on Primewares: JustCloseSomeTasks

CoLT :: Add-ons for Firefox (
see attachment in previous post)

Thanks Ham: been looking for something like this for some time...

;D I've just realised that SC was doing this... explains the missing graphics  :P
479
Is this a reason people may name their software completely independently of what it does?

I'd think TechSmith may say that SnagIt does capture screenshots so could be considered as a captor... or am I being too generous?

I can't see that SC is taking too much away from SnagIt anyway, or does it? ...I know it did for me  :)

N.A.N.Y. 2011 / Re: NANY 2011 Pledge: ContactFX
« Last post by Perry Mowbray on July 04, 2010, 05:39 PM »
Thanks Jim: my same fruitless search was my impetus to do this as well...

:-\ I do have a sneaking suspicion though that if we looked at our paper address books that they'd all be so personal and different that that is the problem that previous attempts have run into (which I will too I s'pose). My only hope is that my goal of creating something versatile is reached and that the versatility is what makes it "personal" by name and feel.

Anyway, I've got another day to play today...
481
That's interesting... does that mean that a "centralised" scripting host may be getting closer?
482
Thanks IanB: I missed that.

Odd: TZ works fine here with the same FARR version... what windows you on?
483
Thanks for the report Ian.. I think these are all fscript based plugins.. do you have any other plugins that use fscript.dll that work?
There have been some incompatibility issues with older versions of the fscript.dll and other plugins.

Any ideas? I use 2.87.03 without any issues (though goodlePlus does act strange at the moment)???
484
Can you please upload somewhere a version with all files on it? that will solve the problem hopefully (have no proxy/firewall/anything, is just not doing the thing :()

Everything is in the OP: What do you think you're missing?
485
Using that, puts some icon on the taskbar, which dissapears after 2 seconds. No .ini gets in place. I assume that window is the one that should appear when selecting "Timezone ReDownload" (which does nothing for me). Tried also elevating the prompt to see if that makes any difference, but does the same :(

That will be FARRTimeZone.exe which does the settings and downloading... it sounds like it's failing in the download...

486
@Perry Mowbray: I have had to uninstall:
  • Gmail Tasks
  • GooglePlus
  • TimeZone

Each one of them appeared to be causing FARR to crash on start-up.
(I did post about this elsewhere.)

Do you know where? That's interesting, I've had issues with GooglePlus for some time, but TimeZone has been fine.

I'm sorry that you've had problems...
487
No timezone.ini even after saving the settings?  :-\

And you can't run settings from FARR? That means that FARR and javascript plugin is having issues...

what happens when you run FARRTimeZone.exe download -600??
488
Can you zip up the TimeZone/data directory and send it to me with the TimeZone/timezone.ini file?

PM me for my email address...
489
is there an official TaskDaddy icon yet? if not, maybe one of the NANY volunteers would volunteer to make one.

Not yet - at this point I'm looking for general ideas on what the icon should look like.

Why not put a request on the Volunteer Board (https://www.donation....php?topic=23152.0)?
490
It looks like your data file has not been generated (i.e. no entries in the Timezone dropdown). The download should happen when FARRtz starts up the first time.

You can manually trigger a download by using the TimeZone ReDownload option (from FARR)

Apart from that, I'm not sure who else is using it on Win7 64? I'm certainly not, so have not tested it...
491
I agree with wife1.0, but I also have the Don'tDressForYourSelf plugin that means that wife1.0 is not only always right but always satisfying as well (plus the history database is so large now wife1.0 probably knows me better than me).

Is more or less what I need, but I don't want for the web. Only for the desktop.

How can i do ?

Best Regards

Is there a reason you can't have an html file locally? ie on your desktop? It'd still run through your browser, just be a local file.

We are keen to see the NANY Entrants get the most out of this event and really be able to showcase their programmes. Sometimes it's the little things, like a custom icon, or the tedious, such as help authoring, but all the added extras in a software release help to make the package more user friendly and usable - which is the ultimate aim, after all.

Volunteers
We encourage all our members to get involved with the community nature of the NANY event by offering their talents to the hard working entrants to help with the ancillary aspects of their entries. Volunteering on NANY projects is a great way for everyone to get involved with the Event, coders and non-coders alike!

What can a NANY Volunteer do?
In reality, they can do anything that's required. Some ideas are:
  • Team up with a coder:
    • help plan and design an application
    • create a coding team
  • Help Authoring
  • Create Icons / Graphics
  • Create SplashScreen
  • Create Screencast Video
  • Create DCUpdater File
  • Create Sounds / Music
  • Beta Testers
  • Create Web Page
  • Text reviewer / editor
  • Translations

Current Offers
If you are an Entrant in this year's NANY, why not spread the joy by getting some extra help? PM the volunteer directly and negotiate what you'd like them to do: don't forget to credit your volunteers on your NANY entry page  :)
  • Icon Creation / Manipulation
  • WebSite Programming / Authoring
Don't forget that all NANY Entrants can get free space on DonationCoder.com to host a site for their Entry!

Special NANY Volunteer
We will be creating screencasts of this year's programmes again as part of the DC evaluation, so help with that testing and video production would be appreciated as well. If you're interested in this aspect please PM me directly.

For anyone wanting to volunteer their services we've had some very generous donations of software for that will help get the job done:

At this stage we're looking at First Come - First Served: The software offered are full version licences and yours to keep! You of course do not have to request one of the programmes when you volunteer if you're happy using your current software, but if any of the software titles will help then it's our pleasure to help you in your endeavours.

Instructions
  • If you have a skill, or skills, to offer the NANY Entrants reply to this post and list what skills you'd like to offer.
  • If you'd like to take advantage of the software give-away PM me after you've posted your offer
  • A NANY Entrant who can use your assistance will get in contact you (maybe PM is best?) and detail what they need.
  • If you agree to help you will be listed as a volunteer on their project page.
  • If accepting that request alters your offer of assistance you should edit your reply as required. It's pointless knocking back requests if you've had your available time taken!
  • Offering and accepting NANY Volunteering services is a serious undertaking, you're entering into a type of partnership with the entrant, so it should not be taken lightly; though it doesn't need to be a huge task either.
  • You can volunteer on as many entries as you like!

You mean like an HTML Image Map?

There are some web based ones (like this: http://www.image-maps.com/) but I've generally done it by hand...

Since when do heat and warmth (aren't those the same things?)

I'm not positive, but I did think this, and it seems to be alluded to by MacMillan:

But I'm not positive  :-\

This is another thing I don't get:

Professor John Zarnecki, of the Open University, said: 'We believe the chemistry is there for life to form. It just needs heat and warmth to kick-start the process.

Since when do heat and warmth (aren't those the same things?) magically create life out of dust?

Maybe it's a reference to chemical processes happen 10% faster with every 1 degree rise in temperature: things just happen faster, or just happen if it's very cold to begin with  ;)

General Software Discussion / Re: Specs for new pc?
« Last post by Perry Mowbray on June 06, 2010, 10:23 PM »
www.Maximumpc.com regularly publishes updated builds you might want to take a look at.

What the heck? They've got an article on how to build a PC on your budget, and the two budgets listed are $1,500 and $2,000. That's not what I have in mind when I think of "budget."

The Tech Report has:
At the low end, our Econobox has now drifted closer to our $500 target price

Closer??
