Hi Curt,
It must be "software\microsoft\WINDOWS\currentversion\r..."
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Tip:
If you find it, use the favorites menu to bookmark the key as "HKLM run".

Note, there is also such an Run-Key for the current user (depends which user is logged in):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Living Room / Re: Demise of the trackball? What's the alternative?
« Last post by AbteriX on February 18, 2007, 02:19 PM »
Thank you for this links, iphigenie!
Funny enough i am on the hunt for an trackball-mouse too,
i never know that there are such things like you show us.
(Funny, but i don't thing that they are nifty, they looks like they would disturbs me)

I was in the last days in two big computer stores in GER and i saw a lot of mouses in all colors, but only one Trackball between them.
I think i go buy one at eBay.

I have had an trackball with my AMIGA and later i bought one for my PC, but this is broken now.
Then i used a simple mouse with scroll wheel (which i miss on all PCs i came along and they didn't have this wheel)
but i miss this simpleness to let the ball roll -- just with a quickly stroke of my finger -- and the cursor move across over the  screen.

General Software Discussion / Re: Any 'print as printerfriendly page' automatizer?

...But maybe you all never have to print such a page that won't stay inside the margens in the final print. Maybe I'm the only one?
...
No, iam too have to print such "wide" sides.
The quickeds way (beneath FireFox add-ons to remove unwanted parts)  is to change the print layout to landscape.
(for longer sides with a lot of pages.. i print to PDF ...and then i print this PDF to both sides of the papers)

Hi Curt,

i have no automatizer, but two hints...

1. there are add-ons for FireFox with them you can remove unwanted parts of an side while you watching it...than print.

2. i often select the text i want,... paste it 'as HTML' into PSPad,... put an <HTML> bevor and an </HTML> behind,...
... then save this new *.html,.... open it again - the pictures should be loaded too, .. than print it to an PDF printer.

Or i save the hole side on disc,... open the source code and modify it.
It's nice if they have worked with TABLES,... so i just could add an WIDTH="75%".
If not, i add this TABLE tag myself around.

It's no automatizer, but if you do it often this way, you will be quick too  :D

...
But when I go to "Save as-" in the file folder there is no such thing.
What do you mean exactly?

Additional explanations to mousers:
Where is the image saved
1 Open the "Preferences" of ScreenShot Captor
2 go to the "Files+Folders" tab
3 the "Screenshot Folder" you see there is that folder your shots are stored

and how to I send it to a Document ...?
You can use the clipboard also to paste your picture to your document.

For the original un-modified shot:
Be sure to copy the shot automatically to the clipboard:
1 Open the "Preferences" of ScreenShot Captor
2 go to the "On Capture" tab
3 check "[]Copy Image To Clipboard"

Then use Ctrl+V in your document after you taken an shot

For your modified picture
1 use Ctrl+C in ScreenShot Captor once you are finished
2 use Ctrl+V in your document

Hi Marek, FYI,
the app in the keynote168.zip ... still says it is v1.6.7 in Title and About box.
But the 'Information Panel' is there! so it's real v1.6.8.

Thank you marek,

very nice to hear from you. Thank you for your KN update/x-mas gift!

Screenshot Captor / "Don't Auto Save"-Feature test
« Last post by AbteriX on November 28, 2006, 10:46 AM »
Hi all,

i found some time to test the "do not automatic save the captured image" feature:

Therefor i have dl the new ALPHA v2.28.01 to be up to date.
And i have checked "On Capture | [X] Don't Auto Save Captures"

  • If i take an shot and exit SC after this --- it works like expected, non pic is saved.
  • But if i modify the shot... add an circle, an clip or add an drop shadow effect... and

exit SC then without saving --- then SC save the shot and the objects file in the background without asking me.

Here are my settings:
[ Invalid Attachment ]
--
Thanks mouser for the new 'Selection Mode' --- this gives the ability with the blur effect to make interesting documentation shots.

Sorry, excuse me. Your rapid release overtakes my beta test.
I had no real time to test this feature as i had no need to take screen shots last week. (i test productively while doing documentation work)
And now i take my vacation...no capture also.

First test works fine, no disturbing dealy on saving, no refresh of the thumpnails
Of course we must take care of our shots, because the are overwriten on the next shot (note people: this is optional!)
But i have seen we can use UNDO to go back to the last shot, as long as they are in memory, that's fine.

When i am back to work i will test more.
Thank you for your work.

 I could never get familiar with  the work flow of MP3Tag. (..for most ToDo's you have to define an "Action" first, right?)
I like to see wath's happens immediately... with one view (here OLD, there NEW next beside) :(
I had found MB3BookHelper (OpenSource) as my power tagger.
Also i like the freeware Media Tagger and MP3Renatager.

All of this use INIs to store there settings...great for my thump drive

Screenshot Captor / Re: Include cursor while takeing a region capture
« Last post by AbteriX on September 21, 2006, 03:49 AM »
now with the non-autosave version isnt it easier to capture full screen and then select region+crop?
Yes a little bit. But the direct way is quicker.
- select an region
- switch to Word and paste it

- capture the hole window
- in SC select your region
- crop
- copy to clip board
- switch to Word and paste it

ps the cursor icons are very near by in the clipart function.
Yes, i have now an folder called 0 for my favorite clips like an cursor.
Because the folder 0 is shownd me at first bevor the folder 1.
Captor\Clips\0
Captor\Clips\1
So have an quick access to my favorite clips

But this i have only if i copy my clips on my thump drive too.
I think it would be a good idea to put this cursor into the SC.exe.
So we have basic things (circle, arrow, cursor) thogeter in one exe
to quick copy SC on an test-pc and start working in no time.

Include cursor while take a region capture
BugTracker: https://www.donation...king/view.php?id=235
BugTracker Info
Problem:
If i take an "Selected region" capture
there is no Cursor included.

Suggestion:
Frezze the screen bevor start capturing.
Note: The cursor must be on the place we want it to be.
(We have to increase the delay... or use the hotkey for better handling this)
After frezzing the screen with the cursor... we can start select the region we want.

Here is an other idea:
because the *.cur cursor icons are small in size
why not include them into the SC.exe as resource
and implement an quick access menu to insert an cursor after the capture?

Here is an pic how this could look:
insert cursor.png

If i use this "Make read only" entry
in an exe which was created from the original exe
i get the following error in this daughter exe:

Steps to reproduce:
1.) original fSekrit.exe
2.) make an new r/w exe
3.) oben this new r/w exe
4.) press  "Make read only"
5.) modify the content a lil bit
6.) use [X] to close
7.) Dialog "do you wanna save"  -- yes
8.) Dialog: "Error. File is read only"

If i use "Make read only"
the  "save" and "save as" is greyed out.

I can only save it if i close with the [X] button.

I suggest instead of  the "Make read only" entry
an "Save as read only.." entry
and disable the entry in the new created r/o exe only.

If i use "Make read only"
this entry is not greyed out ... still clickable.. but of course without function.

Question:
should'nt this entry be greyed out too, if it once was clicked?

fSekrit / Re: Beta: fSekrit 1.3 beta thread
« Last post by AbteriX on September 18, 2006, 05:50 AM »
Thank you f0dder!  :)

Brainstorming:

If i use "Make read only"
there is most of the file menu greyed out,, but the NEW button is still active.
So i can make a new EXE, which is still an r/o one and have the same PW as the original.

So i have this question:
why is the NEW button active for r/o fSekrit.exe's ?
Have anyone a need for this?

With this 1.3 beta1 i can use the NEW button
to reimport the text from a temp text file
and save it as new fSekrit.exe.
I would prefer to use the orignal exe to make new fSekrit files,
.. other people should use there own copy. ;)
So i think i have no need for this NEW button.  :-\
