Main thing I'm missing from CH+S is storing bitmaps, and that will hopefully make it in eventually. :)

Sure, that's pretty sensible ;) Actually it's also very useful for captures of the FARR window!

How about a capture region, autosave, and copy file to clipboard? Useful again for forum posts.
Any suggestion where such a file should be saved? something like %MYDOCUMENTS%\My Pictures\screenshots\ ?
Or how about %MYDOCUMENTS%\My Pictures\screenshots\forum or %MYDOCUMENTS%\My Pictures\screenshots\temp ?

As these sorts of screenshots wouldn't need to be kept, I'm not sure where the best place to save them would be... Guess the advanced version would be to have some other app automatically delete it after 5 minutes or so 8)

Edit: Currently there is the "Capture to clipboard" command, that does open the save-dialog but is good for forum posting and similar.

Personally I'm very happy with Opera. "most sites don't work"? Yes, I stumble across the odd site that don't work, that is true, and Opera isn't perfect, but every time I use another browser I remember why Opera stays as no1 for me. Not that I want to start a browser war, btw ;)
461
Why don't you just switch browser? You've certainly written a lot of negative Opera posts, so I don't understand why you don't just ditch it... If a piece of software made me write so many negative posts I would just move on.

Actually, come to think of it, I'll make a separate DC forum post command, since the review command should stay as it is. Reason for this is that while making a review you'll most likely want to capture several screenshots, and thus no need to capture filename to clipboard, while for the odd post, -clipimagepath is the way to go.

Yes, you're right!

Thanks for reporting. It's designed to capture window to a file, but should probably also copy filename to clipboard!

Will update. Until it's fixed, you can edit the minicap.alias file yourself, and add -clipimagepath to the DC review alias (right before the -exit command).

Bit of a shameless bump this, but are there any requests? It's pretty easy adding stuff yourself, but if you've made new minicap-aliases why not share them here and I'll include them in my "official" minicap alias!

I'm also going to do a bit of work on the icons, so they will all be different and hopefully even more relevant to the commands.

I'm very happy with SyncBackSE (Now at version 5), so no need to look elsewhere. Probably not too helpful, but I think it's an excellent program with pretty much all the features I need. Will possibly ditch my backup program and only use SyncBackSE, if I find that it can do all I need...

Have you looked into alternative shells?

http://en.wikipedia....op_shell_replacement has links to quite a few

Personally I use LiteStep. Note that it can possibly take quite some time to get used to shell replacements and if you want it to behave just like you want, at least LiteStep requires some text file editing. Others, such as bbLean (blackbox for windows essentially) can mostly be configured through menus.

Interesting topic, but not sure I know which apps to include... maybe I didn't understand the concept :-[

A couple that maybe fits in the "useful but not used all the time"-category (based on recently launched in FARR and my faulty memory...):
Beyond Compare - "Beyond Compare 3 is the ideal tool for comparing files and folders on your Windows or Linux system."
asterwin - "This utility reveals the passwords stored behind the asterisks ('***') in standard password text-boxes"
System Explorer - "Detailed informations about Tasks, Processes, Startups, IE Addons, Uninstallers, Windows, Services, Drivers, Connections and Opened Files" Task Manager replacement

Tons more, which I'll post eventually

Edit: More:
Mp3tag - "the universal Tag Editor and more ..." Only mp3 tagging tool you'll ever need! Free, but very donationworthy!

Aligning the icons - center

Somewhat related: How about possibility to have the bar only as wide as the sum of all icons? Then also possibility to specify positions such as Top Center, Left Center, Right Bottom, etc... I suppose this would also mean that there would need to be an option to not "redefine" the screen area, i.e. not technically dock...  Hope that made sense ;)
469
Another:
Switch between different docks. I.E. a command that opens another dock and closes/hides the current one. This could be useful if for instance there's some specific task I set out to do that can be accomplished with some utilities in their own dock. And then when done, I can just click a button that'll switch back to my default dock. Hope that makes sense :)

Same thing could perhaps eventually be accomplished through hotkeys.

Edit: I wrote 'launchbar' but changed to 'dock' since that would probably make more sense... maybe?
470
I'm not too pleased with the following behaviour:
Select a node in the preferences-> then rightclick another node-> delete = It'll delete the selected node.
I'd prefer if the rightclick was "assigned" to node under cursor, not the currently selected node. I also believe this behaviour would be more consistent with windows in general.

*Request: Have ESC (or abort from the context menu) end MiniCap completely as it currently opens the editor when wanting to cancel a capture.
+1

This is a bit of an annoying "feature"...

LaunchBar Commander / Suggestions for the Next Release of LaunchBar Commander
« Last post by TucknDar on August 16, 2008, 05:02 PM »
This "forgotten" program by mouser was mentioned during a conversation on #donationcoder (IRC) earlier, and I had a few requests for the next version, so let's hear them:

  • Rightclick-> delete/move/edit/context menu. For quick'n'easy editing of an item.
  • Better skinning. mouser already said he wanted to use the same skinning engine as FARR, but I thought I'd post this request anyway.
  • Possibility to view the launchbar even if preferences are open. The current behaviour is a bit annoying, since the bar will disappear when I'll want to change some settings (skins, for instance)...
  • Auto-calculate height/define a height. I can't see this anywhere. Personally I'd like to have 16px icons on 20px buttons on a 24px high bar. Ability to define this in the preferences would be much appreciated!
  • Working file-dropping and scripts. Well, the tabs are there in the node-definition but they're not functional yet :P

Please post additional requests in this thread and I believe we'll eventually see an even greater LaunchBar Commander!
