http://www.techsuppo...tal-image-editor.htm

the winner of the basic class is a free/limited version of Sagelight editor.

Paint.net gets best of in the middle class. Must have a look at it.

I *think* Photofiltre can use Photoshop plugins FWIW

"Engage auto timer" via the tray works here - it starts automatically though (after 4000ms) - no keypress is required. Is it possible that pressing the PrtScr key deactivates it ?

makes for some interesting screenshots ;)

Doesn't xyplorer have some kind of comment/tag system for files? I have a memory of there being a bit of a fuss cause they didnt use DESCRIPT.ION files.

Found it:

I was thinking in something like this

http://www.youtube.c.../watch?v=8I4eKvQzikI     :P

why not that? (gdoc fusion?)

It's only a trial.
 :P

is it actually available to buy anywhere? (I couldnt find it).

Vaguely related:
I owned a copy of JAWs (PDF creater) - it was taken over by gDocs, I see it's no longer available for purchase. They seem to concentrate on the OEM market now (not sure which OEM market).

Another way would be to change all the parts to a common format.. like PDF as example.  Open each document and print it using one of those printer drivers that outputs PDF or whatever output format you want.  Then put all the pieces together.

I read too quickly,  and for a moment there I thought you were going to suggest printing the files on paper - then physically cutting them up and glueing them together :D

other thoughts:

RAW is only for pros or people with a lot of time on their hands imo.

Will you ever want to open a photoshop file (.psd) - if so, that may limit your options a bit (Photoscape doesnt do psd files, dont know off-hand about the others).

To me, a very important part of an image editor is noise reduction, e.g. you're trying to improve an image taken in very low light with a compact camera. I'm afraid I cant make a recommendation there,** maybe someone else will (?)

** Sagelight probably good for noise - but I must update. IIRC he called it something else, which meant that as an occasional user, I often didnt find it :-[

Dont have time to look properly now, but there's all the NANY mugs (I know there's some overlap there with nudone's wallpapers).
There's also a more recent thread with Cody images :-\ active over the last couple of years but I couldnt find it...

^I suspect that's answered already here:

it is richer in tools for color adjustment, back light correction, red eye removal etc rather than 'micro' tools like paint brushes etc.

I'm not really familiar with many editors.
Paid:
Sagelight - is currently good and has great potential. Mouse orientated (so far). Some interface aspects confusing - initially at least (but I see I'm running 4.2g beta and it's now at 4.4)
Helicon Filter - relatively sophisticated yet easy to use. (Disclaimer: haven't tried it in a couple of years.) License is unclear - looks like it wont work if you dont pay each year )

or unpressing the left click -
is that a word 'unpressing' ?

or should it be 'depressing' :-\
maybe better with a dash: de-pressing :)
4387
Okay, got you.
I'm no expert, so I'm not going to be able to help much - I'm just trying to figure out what *exactly* the problem is. (I'm also unhappy with Thunderbird search btw - maybe we just need a better email client :-/ )

So, by 'structured', do you mean - tell me where (in which folder: sent/inbox/etc) the email is located (?)

But the point is look inside TB...

we are going around in clircles.

all your emails are stored in plain text in the files with no extension, eg. Drafts, Sent Mail

hi peter.s
what have you looked at already? and, what OS are you using?
4390
I don't find a resident or background indexing program.

But some day I will

have you looked at any of the desktop search programmes?
There was an old thread about them resurrected here lately:

Find And Run Robot / Re: Alt+Tab
« Last post by tomos on September 13, 2013, 11:21 AM »
Is it just this setting needs to be selected ? - (second option):

Screenshot - 2013-09-13 , 18_09_50.png

I notice a peculiar behavior. If I activate the app through a shortcut, and then try Alt+Tab, it shows up in the alt-tab window. I switch another window now & again try alt-tab, FARR is still there in alt-tab window & now switch back to FARR. So this accounts for two swaps of FARR & the other window. The issue is after this. FARR will not come back on alt-tab window till the time it is there in taskbar.

If I close FARR window & activate it again using the shortcut, it will again appear on alt-tab window again for two swaps only. Isnt it strange?

behaviour is slightly different here (also Win7 64) with options as above. FARR showed twice in AltTab and didnt show after that at all. FARR does show in AltTab when prefs are open. Hmm, just showed again, - *after* looking at prefs (and alttabbing to/from FARR/prefs). When it did show again, it just shows twice and then disappears. Not showing at all now again...

Actually I'm not sure what exactly you mean nmshyam, when you say: "FARR will not come back on alt-tab window till the time it is there in taskbar."

I still think something other than a discussion forum would be a better way to accomplish something like that. But maybe that's mostly me.

I agree there presumably are better ways to accomplish a collection of links, yet I think the idea here is simply to add to, or facilitate, the discussion.

I think Renegade's addition of the links to the Encryption thread can only (?) be seen as an improvement

Post New Requests Here / Re: Another project timer
« Last post by tomos on September 12, 2013, 04:40 AM »
There are many time recording softwares that we’ve tried in our office. However, none of them could handle the at least one of the tasks we expected it to.

Then, one of my friends suggested this time tracking software. I’ve been using it since then. It’s been almost a year now and my office functions in a very organized way. It has many options to track project time and cost, time and attendance, time and billing feature, time clock and web expenses.

hi Grace, your three posts are all recommending Replicon (they are also the only times it is mentioned on this forum). The policy here is to state your affiliation with software (*if* there is an affiliation). If you're not affiliated, you may even be doing more damage than good to Replicons reputation, by posting thus.

The only thing it requires is a bit of effort on the person who starts the thread to put in the work to make it the Definitive thread on the subject and occasionally update it.

the reality though is that some people are open to working like that, and many arent - which is why I suggested alternatives above (they're not necessarily solutions either, just ideas).

I think it's a great idea.
If the thread-starter didnt want the complete responsibility, they could also invite moderaters to add links at the end of the post. Posters in thread can request interesting links be added to OP by either of the above.
e.g.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed laoreet sodales lacus at venenatis. Nulla vitae elementum ligula. Pellentesque quis eros in turpis placerat elementum.

=============
Links added later in thread:
=============
most recent link
middle-aged link
Second oldest link
Oldest link

- or could a moderater/mouser 'inject' a sub-post below the OP, where the links could be added?

Edit// (wondering should these posts be split to new thread?)

I have no idea - but imagine that making line the inverse of the background colour is no men feat, if at all possible.
How about simply a slightly heavier dashed line for the cross-hairs line ?
Or, I was going to say 'marching ants' - but I see that's used for the selected area...
