Living Room / Re: BitTorrent - why bother?

Reminds me of the pre-BitTorrent era, when it once took me a MONTH to download a 500 MB file...  :-[
But i bet you gave much more importance to it than you would if it'd take you 1minute to download :tellme:

As you may know i've been working for weeks on the new micro donation system for use here at donationcoder.com.
It's almost done and i think it's shaped up really nicely.

But a number of people have pointed out that there may be some strange legal/tax issues involve
Shouldn't you have asked this before? ;)

Nope, don't know of any, just here to nag you :tellme:

Thanks for posting it here, jballi.

Here are the ones i most use:

SimpleCalc, by Gerome, more information here. (i've set up the alias for '+', not calc)
1000>>>SimpleCalc>->calc $$1 | Scripts/FBSL.exe Scripts/FBSLCalc.fbs "$$1">+>^\+(.*)

An alias that alows you to directlly type an url (without http:// or www.) and open it in the "default" browser. (i set it up for opera)
1000>>>Surf.com.net.org.pt.info.nu.ru>->c:\programas\opera\opera.exe www.$$1>+>((.*)(.com|.net|.org|.pt|.info|.nu|.ru)$)

An alias for opening pages that don't work in opera ;)
1000>>>Surf in ie>->C:\Programas\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe $$1>+>^ie (.*)

The necessary command to not needing the windows run box:
1000>>>R>->Run $$1|$$1>+>^r (.*)

And last but not least, the most important of them all, the DC alias (got from this thread):
1000>>>Donation Coder>->DC Forum Search for "$$1" | https://www.donation...tion=search2;search=$$1>n>Recent Posts | https://www.donation...entdense>n>New Replies | https://www.donation...plies>n>Unread Posts | https://www.donation...all>n>Specials | https://www.donation.../index.html>+>^dc[ ]*(.*)

One way of getting rid of frustration...It should have got to a point that you can use a brush and dust pan to pick the pieces up, and through it into the garbbage bin...HehHeh(More Satisfying)
AhAhAh yes, i'd like that idea, too!

Post New Requests Here / Re: commandline datestamp favorites
« Last post by jgpaiva on March 25, 2006, 08:51 AM »
First the good news: the main part can be done. The toggle functionality does make sense, and can be done too.
The only problem is the out-of the box functionality.
How about if it had one initial "please tell me where your favourites are located" dialog?
It can be done with a default (english) directory, and if that directory isn't found, it'd prompt for the right one.
Everything else looks like not a big problem, if all the favourites are stored in the one only root directory.

eheh... this is really a way to get rid of computer-generated stress :D
It's just a pity that there isn't a laptop version. Maybe if my computer saw me doing that to another one like him, he'd act decentlly ;)

Living Room / Make your own home server
« Last post by jgpaiva on March 24, 2006, 05:35 AM »
I read about this on one portuguese magazine, and found the article very interesting.

The idea is you have an old computer at home that is only getting dustier by every day?
Well... You can now give some interesting use to it.
With NasLite+, you can make it be your own ftp/http home server.
You already could do this before, but a 486 with a 200mb disk is not that useful as an ftp server, is it? ;)

That's the advantage about naslite. NasLite doesn't depend on the computer's own bios, which allows you to use whatever disks you'd like, as long as they're ide! If you remove the optical drive, you can connect 4 250gb discs to it and get a 1tb ftp server! how good is that?

This sure looks like a great use to give to that old computer you've got stored in the deepness of your garage.

43MB? Hmmm... at my PC it uses "only" 19 MB ram (with a lot of Shortcuts assigned). I personally don't mind the 20 MB, as I upgraded my machine to 2GB RAM recently ;D
Damn... Then, I wouldn't use it. That's just waaay to much for that kind of program :S

still makes it easier on laptop users having to use that stupid touchpad.
You wuoldn't believe it, but between browsing the forum and writing in irc, i'm actually faster using my laptop's keyboard and touchpad than using my external keyboard + mouse, because in the laptop, the mouse is closer ;)

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: remap extra keyboard keys for other tasks
« Last post by jgpaiva on March 22, 2006, 07:03 PM »
That's very odd...
Please try the following:

Quit any running ahk script.
Open the following script:
#Persistent
#KeyHistory
Then, press one of the keys.
Copy the full line, and post it here.

I think that keyboard works in a strange way (well.. it's microsoft's, is there any other way to expect it to work? ;) ).
Still, if it sends always one only key, there might be a way to remap it.

Browser_Forward::RButton

Clipboard Help+Spell / Copy to Favourites
« Last post by jgpaiva on March 22, 2006, 06:18 PM »
As I couldn't find mouser at the irc channel, i thought i'd better post this idea before i forgot it.
I'm begining to think "how could i ever live without chs??".
But then. i thought it could do even more.

I use CHS to copy a few things in a row, and then pasting them very easily.

But then i thought: thy not have chs working as my notes app?

I already use it that way, when i want to store something, i just copy it, and then move it to "favourites" to prevent it from being deleted.
But this is a bit slow. Why not having a configurable hotkey that would be able to add a clip to favourites? Or maybe one that would copy the last clipboard entry to the favourites?

I don't think this is too hard to do, but could be a real life-saver. What do you think?

Living Room / Free landline calls?
« Last post by jgpaiva on March 22, 2006, 05:09 PM »
A friend of mine just told me about internetcalls. It allegelly allows you to make phone calls in some countries for free!
And i saw my friend calling home, without paying anything.
I can't quite believe it, though. Does anyone know something about this? How is this possible?

I really like hamradio's simplicity... I think that if it had another kind of separator and a bit more 3d in the letters, the forum one would just be perfect.  :Thmbsup:

since I'm using AutoHotkey I don't really *need* it, but it looks cool!
Actually, i don't share your point of view. Although i do like ahk, qliner hotkeys is not directed at the same ahk is. qliner hotkeys looks like much simpler, much easier to set up, and (vey important) graphical tool ;)
