Bug:
it doesnt remember the F6 language setting on closing:
always starts with [English] <=> [Vietnamese]
3602
Thanks ego!
I like it and it works well here too

Would it be possible to have it automatically translate text in any language to a user-chosen default language? This default language would also automatically be translated according to the settings.
In your case, all languages could be translated to Vietnamese. Vietnamese could be translated to e.g. English.
You would then need two settings:
        1) [*] => [Vietnamese]
        2) [Vietnamese] => [English]

Also, to facilitate easier access:
  • could it minimise or close to the tray?
  • maybe a universal hotkey** to restore it's window. Or even better, a hotkey that will restore window and translate already selected text :-)

** would have to be customisable I guess

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Image Append - Batch
« Last post by tomos on June 02, 2014, 02:56 PM »
Judging by this thread - GIMP script to batch split + rotate TIFF images,
ImageMagick might be your answer.
But you would need to ask at their forum I guess.

There is scripting for gimp as well e.g. http://gimpscripts.com/

(I dont have any experience with these myself.)

I now need to stack the photographs Top over Bottom.

I do not need to stitch them, even though I have provided a reasonable overlap of text.

I just need one above the other, possibly with a separating line

There must be no scaling or re-compression as this may affect the image

Can you give an example there - it's not clear to me what exactly you want to do - is it to create a large image showing all the photos from one paper? If so, how many pages/images would that be?

Can you photograph in Tiff format? (I've never used it this way, but tiff format can be multi-page; also has the advantage of lossless compression and lossless save/re-save. You could also convert to two bit tiff ['lineart'=just b/w, no grey] to reduce filesize, but would lose quality going there.)

I have looked in the forums, seen a few ideas, and the one most promising, broken link!

Eek. I didn't [make backups]

no system restore?

Yeah I did do one of those. But I thought those got deleted eventually. I didn't have any problems yet and I figured Stoic's comment talked about months later.

yeah, that's the choice I guess:

But perhaps it isn't needed..

or just give it another key combo?
e.g. Ctrl+Shift+Q (?)

That's 5 minutes longer than the one I saw. Commercials?

I noticed that too, and started watching again: so far (@11:00) it has an intro the other didnt, and yes, it's less brutally cut - but nothing major extra.

I wish there was a way to disable the Ctrl+Q hotkey.
Many other programs use it to QUIT the application, so I got into the habit of pressing it when finished. Accidentally deleting the active screenshot in the process.
-ScreenManiac (May 30, 2014, 12:22 AM)

Yes, I've requested this be changed in the past. Most graphics programmes, but also many others (e.g. Softmaker Office programmes) use it to close.

I was so used to using it, that I started to use an AHK script to force *all* windows to close with Ctrl+Q. This is a workaround for SC, as it also closes it's window (rather than delete the current screenshot). (I dont have it yet on this machine, will post it later here.)

^ a very logical explanation Deozaan, especially with regard to XP. (In fairness to the rest of us who didnt figure that out, they could have spelled it out a little more :-\)

Not really an extension and many of you may be aware of it already, but I just found how to do it today.  Jump to the last tab that had the focus by pressing Control Tab.  Just set about:config
browser.ctrlTab.previews to True

thanks for that tip Miles - works out of the box in PaleMoon

I remember in FF that clicking on the tab with focus would move the focus to the last focused tab (try saying that fast :p).
I think that was inbuilt, but stopped working at some stage - a good while back now...

Obviously the deactivating itself would not be ideal... possibly for that reason, it does have a setting: press numlock key for 5 seconds to activate.

I never did figure out what was deactivating it or why, it was just constantly, suddenly not there. But hay WTH, I just enabled it now to see what'll happen this time. Perhaps it will stay on.
-Stoic Joker (May 29, 2014, 06:56 AM)

I was trying to remember all along what it reminds me of - do you remember that real basic tennis video game - the sounds were almost the same for hit and miss :-)

Actually ToggleKeys has been around since Windows 2000. But unfortunately it makes the same noise for both enable and disable
-Stoic Joker (May 28, 2014, 10:33 PM)

not here - on Windows 7 -
as said, it makes a "high pitch for on, lower pitch for off"

Telephonics,
on Windows 7, you can set the Capslock and Numberlock to make a sound when changed (high pitch for on, lower pitch for off).

Could that be a solution?

Or could disabling both completely be a solution?

T-Clock / Re: T-Clock 2010 (download)
« Last post by tomos on May 28, 2014, 08:07 AM »
I used the fantastic T-Clock for years on my PC under XP professional 32bit. We now changed to Win7 enterprise 64bit. I downloaded TC2010 b.95, as well as some other modified versions mentioned here. But I could not get any of those to start, neither as std. user or localadmin. Clicking the .exe, nothing happens. No error message, nothing.

hi Hans,
I'm not the expert, but have you tried this one:
https://www.donation....msg336616#msg336616
(2.0.2.99 Thu Sep 05 19:39:24 2013)

I have it running on Win7 x64 pro since release. FWIW I dont remember having any problems setting it up...

Thanks app - that was a great read

anyone know what he's called? Okay, found him - Maciej Ceglowski.

He writes nicely http://idlewords.com/

I just checked Display Properties / Settings:  Screen Resolution is 1920 x 1080

Under Advanced, the DPI Setting is Large Size (120 DPI) - 125% Normal Size.

So I have increased the overall DPI Setting.

that's the key - FARR has not responded to this change.
In my experience, many apps dont respond, or dont respond well to the 125% setting...
(Can also be very problematic when on a 768 pixel height display and you cannot read or reach the OK button on dialogues - e.g. in IE.)
3622
But on the other hand, if you compare the Options window font size, with the fonts I use on the rest of my screen, they sure look small. See first attachment.

Or compare them to, say, a Firefox Option window. See second attachment.

Or VLC Options window. See third attachment.

I don't think it's so much the clarity of the font as, simply, its size.

Yes, you're right - it is tiny compared to those.

Oddly they're the same size on my screen i.e. my Firefox options font is the same size as FARR's (so they'd both be too small for you...)
[edit] actually FARR's options are a bigger clearer font :-\ [/edit]

I'm wondering, have you scaled the system font?
3623
^ sorry, I didnt make it fully clear:
the font in my Options is on the right hand side in my screenshots I posted above.

The font in my options has an almost square "O"
3624
I dont want to distract from your request PhuketGeek, but I notice my Options are *much* clearer - in spite of being the same size. This is due to the font. I'm not sure why that's different - maybe it's the Classic theme - I'm on aero (windows 7). Are you on XP or 7 ?

[edit] in both shots below, my options are shown on the right-hand-side, overlaid on yours [/edit]

My options overlaid on your shot, all @ 100%

Screenshot - 2014-05-27 , 14_32_34.png

=> detail of above @ 200%

Screenshot - 2014-05-27 , 14_35_14.png

=> EDIT// I quickly tried Classic theme - my more readable font stays the same. So, I presume you're on XP (?)

Next one to rule out:
does the PrtSc button work if SC is not running?
(should take and copy a screenshot to clipboard)
