Not sure if this serves what you're looking for, but adding ";wap2" to the URLs at the forum will send you to "mobile mode". Here's this thread in mobile mode.

DesktopCoral / Re: DesktopCoral and Dexpot (and others)
« Last post by jgpaiva on June 10, 2011, 05:44 PM »
From what I understand, this is the intended behaviour of Dexpot. By default, each application is only on a single virtual desktop.
But I think there is a Dexpot option to circunvent it. There should be an option to enable selected applications to work in all virtual desktops, I believe it is usually called to make an application "sticky".

Oh! That explains a lot, I remember the owner of the computer complaining a lot about flash, maybe the whole slugishness was related with that :)
354
I've seen a powerbook G4 running Tiger and it was very slugish, I suppose with Leopard it can only be worse :P

I don't think you can buy Apple Care for a machine that old.
From my experience, you can only buy Apple Care for a machine if its warranty hasn't expired yet.

I don't think so, Zaine. More and more, I'm reading that the Euro is overpriced (and my country is suffering the consequences), I suppose it will go down some day and shorten the gap to the USD.

Yeah, it sure does. And probably that 249€ is the price in france/germany, the smaller countries are probably be getting a higher price. (even though I've found that ipods, for example, are 10€ more expensive in the larger countries, not sure why)

That's not very surprising, at least here in Portugal, you can't get an iphone 4 for less than 400€ (584USD), and that's with a carrier plan!

Skrommel's Software / Re: NOCLOSE and Windows 7 x64

Hi, and welcome to DC!

Have you tried running it with compatibility mode for windows xp?
I've had some problems with my own gridmove and running it without administrator privileges.

MerleOne: notice that Curt was doing some necro thread revival, this thread is over 2 years old ;)

Yes you should, skrell. DialogMove_modified does not move windows to the cursor, the original version does.
You can find it here: https://www.donation...index.php?topic=3097

The link still points to donationcoders.com, which I suppose I shouldn't do anymore.
I have no time to fix it right now, so here's a working link: http://jgpaiva.dcmem...ve/GridMoveSetup.exe

Living Room / Re: PORTAL 2 AVAILABLE NOW FOR PRE-ORDER
« Last post by jgpaiva on May 15, 2011, 08:23 AM »
I actually have already finished Portal (1) ;)
That's why I'm really curious about Portal2!

It does run decently in the macbook, even though not as well as it did run in my windows machine (which was supposed to be slower than the mac). Not wanting to fuel the mac vs windows, but I've already read a few times that if you install windows on the mac, the game will actually run faster than in OSX ;). (from what I understand, this happens because the windows version uses direct3d whereas the OSX version uses openGL).

I'm now working on getting some free space to run this on windows :P

JGPaiva's GridMove and Ahk Tools / Re: Text labels for grids?
« Last post by jgpaiva on May 13, 2011, 09:09 AM »
:D Thanks!

I believe someone already did something similar to this, but GridMove does not have this option yet.

I have a new version of GridMove almost ready, I'll try to include this feature.

disclaimer: recently I been having lots of work to do and GridMove's updates are taking me a while to publish :(

You should buy a proper computer them ;)

I wish :)

Seriously though the Mac spec says:

From what I understand, my macbook is on the borderline of the minimum requirements, I'm afraid I'll have a bad gaming experience. Meanwhile, if I start to be desperate, I may install windows on the machine and just download a pirate version to see how it runs (given that I don't really have any other option  :-\).

ps: I honestly can't see why they don't release a demo, I can only justify it as a move to force people to buy the full game to know how it runs :(

Zaine: as a researcher in Computer Science, I have seen several important articles by Microsoft, I have seen very good presentations by their employees and I know they give food for some of the best researchers in the world. The same applies to Google, Amazon and Facebook.

I have yet to see an article with Apple's name on it. From my point of view, the only 2 fields where they have innovated is marketing and design, and haven't shared their knowledge with anyone.

Honestly, I'm surprised that you, being a linux supported, are saying that you prefer Apple's R&D to Microsoft's R&D, since Apple share zero knowledge to help the community.

Disclaimer: I suppose this is only valid for my field of work, distributed systems.

I use <removed link> and it works great!
You already posted a similar reply on this thread. That, combined with this google search leads me to think that you must have some relationship with the product you are plugging.
If you are indeed associated with it, the forum rules request you to explicitly acknowledge so.

I believe there are a few other threads requesting this feature.
Here is one possible answer.

-strange. On my FF4, middle-click gives a new focused tab. And it doesn't do anything at all in Speed Dial, which is my homepage. Maybe I should take some more time to read what each extension of mine actually is doing ;-)
Are you sure that isn't an option in Firefox? I believe I've changed that in Opera, I suppose Firefox should have a similar config

Living Room / Re: Easiest laptop (brand) to take apart ?
« Last post by jgpaiva on April 25, 2011, 11:57 AM »
Thanks jgpaiva. You're not the first one I hear who's not satisfied with Acer's support... But I've also heard other comments of very satisfied people. Without any comprehensive study, it's hard to really see the broader picture.
My experience was simple: The hdd died. I asked for a replacement and the replacement died the next day it arrived. I then sent it back and asked them to look into it better since it probably was not an hdd problem. They replaced the hdd and sent it back. This time it didn't even work out of the box. I sent it back again, and reported the previous experiences. They ignored my comments, replaced the hdd and sent it back to me. It died the next day, I bought a new computer and swore never to buy an acer again.
Other than this and overheating a bit, the laptop was actually nice.

Regarding apple: At work we use apple. The older computers (4years +) have no trouble. However, about 50% of the new computers (laptops and desktops, a total of around 15 machines) failed within 1 to 2 years. My own desktop went to be repaired for screen problems, but the laptop has no problems. The warranty was pretty good, however (but since this is Portugal and the support it not given by Apple themselves, YMMV). We now buy all machines with warranty extension, since some failed within 3 years (standard warranty covers up to 2 years).
