btw -
i'd like to find a mod for smf forums that lets you do what you are trying to do, embed an attached image INSIDE the body of the next at a specific place.
34552
i like this idea, and i'd like to add a few more "nudge" shortcuts;
what do the big apps like ps and psp use, we should stick to the "accepted" standard.
34553
ctrl+c and ctrl+v both work with image selections already i think :)
but i do need to add the next to the menu so you can see that it does :)

Unfinished Requests / Re: Suggestion for Skrommel
« Last post by mouser on November 05, 2005, 03:53 AM »
it would also make it easier for people to figure out the shortcut url to use when they add it to their page (i.e. by right clicking on the index list and slecting copy).

Unfinished Requests / Suggestion for Skrommel
« Last post by mouser on November 05, 2005, 02:38 AM »
you have so many wonderful utilities skrommel - might i suggest 2 things:
1) use html "anchors" on the page so that people off-site can link to a specific program entry on the page.
2) maybe have a box at top just listing all of the programs alphabetically with links to the anchors,
like

closemany, colortaskbar, doover, ....

just so that if people come to the page and know the name of the program they are looking for they can more easily locate it.

Finished Programs / DONE: text as windows wallpaper
« Last post by mouser on November 05, 2005, 02:30 AM »
I'd love a commandline tool that could be invoked by our Popup Wisdom program (and other tools), that would take a string of text on commandline (or text file input name even better), and make a graphic image of this text, sized to the desktop, and then set as the wallpaper image.

In other words, i want a short text file or quote to be displayed as a graphic wallpaper image - and it needs to rescale it so that it fits nicely (maybe parameters for font and padding).

seems like it would be quite a useful commandline tool - not too sure how hard it would be to figure out the proper size of the font to fit on the page; it's ok if it takes a second or two to (off screen) try to fit the text.

DoOver works amazing... love the way it shows the keys being recorded as you type. you've outdone yourself this time skrommel.

ok this is a bit crazy though - i think vbmark is going to faint when he reads this thread and finds not just one but do programs have been coded to perform what he requested -   :D

-

ps.
i'm guessing that it won't be common that we get two programmers coding the same request - might be kind of frustrating if it happened a lot?  maybe the solution is just to invite more people to post requests so that there is plenty to go around  ;D ;D ;D ;D

jazper - if you want some web space to put up your files just drop me a line - this tool in particular should be up on a website somewhere that people can find.
34561

WORKS LIKE A CHARM HERE - JUST BEAUTIIFUL.

one thing i would like to see in a future release:
1) ability to set options saying macro should play back at full speed.
2) about box that would remind me the keys to use.
3) the hotkeys are fine for me but some people might want to change them.

Really amazing job.
34562
this seems like a very good idea.. i might try it duing our next coding snacks weekend if no one can find a proper macro tool to do it in the meantime.  does seem like it might be a feature present in a proper macro tool though.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Feature Request (v2?)

muscle memory is exactly right :)

powerpro has been discussed on this forum quite a bit, it seems to be one of those programs that can do everything, but is a bit hard to get into.

you might be interested in checking out autohotkey if you haven't - it seems to have an equal standing here in terms of being one of those amazing automation programs (it's a scripting tool) that can do anything.

and for a taste of what it can do, check out Skrommel's page of 40 little utilities made with it on this site:

Screenshot Captor / Re: upgrade Q

carol said it perfectly; your screenshots will not be erased, though if you changed screenshot directory you will need to change that again after deleteing the ini file.

« Last post by mouser on November 04, 2005, 05:16 AM »
it's a good thread to have on the forum, i'll probably just move it to drag+drop robot section of the forum where others people can see the kinds of things that D+D is good for.
34566
I will add some donationcoder URLs to the default bookmarks set for new WebSite-Watcher installations, so new users will have them in their list

that would be very very cool.

CANON!!!!

I LOVE MY CANON (older pixma ip4000) - i spit on my old HP inkjets.

i made a post a long time ago talking about how easy and convenient the photo printing software for it was - almost worth the cost of printer!

i just confirmed the hotkey holding thing - it's probably a side effect of some kludge i use to force a readjust of column sizes - i'll look into it for the next release.

regarding auto-complete.

keep the following in mind:
if for example you type "run notepad" and hit enter, it will run notepad.
it will also add notepad to its list of recently launched programs, where it will by default appear in the result list ready to be triggered by quick numberkey press.
becase its in the recently launched list you can also start typing "notepad" and you should see it at the top of the list almost immediately ready for launching; again hitting return (once or twice depending on options set) will launch it.

i guess i'm just trying to say that F+R really aims to work more on a priority-list model as opposed to a single auto-complete model, and i think for the most part this tends to work better (at least for me) than a single-best-match autocomplete.

you can also add applications to alias groups which makes it very easy to make sort of named groups that you can quickly call up and choose from.

having said that - we have talked before about having a kind of button to reveal a set of advanced searching features like directory restrictions, etc., and i'm always open to discussing that more.

it also takes a little while to adjust to a new system - and i'd be interested to hear if you still miss autocomplete after using the program for a while..
34569
wow - wonderful!

ps.
if you're interested in setting up a little icon under your name where people can make a donation to support your coding (don't expect much if anything but still it's the principle and we want to encourage people to donate to coders), there's a link to some instructions here: https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1283.0

martin - it's great to see you here posting!

The thread with the discount info on wsw and other aignes.com programs is here: https://www.donation...index.php?topic=73.0

I'll quote from that thread:

We would like to extend a special thank you to Martin Aignesberger the author of Website Watcher, one of our very favorite programs in the world (see our review on this site), for being so generous both with discounts for our members and with donating copies for us to give away.  Really a class act.

It's hard for me to convey how much I love website watcher, and how much i really do believe that anyone who has ever browsed the internet should have this program (or a program like it).  As we say in the review, it will change the way you surf the web.

Website watcher is also one of those rare programs that seems like it can't get any better - and yet martin never rests on his laurels, he's always improving it!  What more can I say, I love it

Living Room / Finally a DonationCoder.com License Key for Time Travelers..
« Last post by mouser on November 04, 2005, 01:00 AM »
There has been a recent trend in software to offer different licenses for pro users.

We understand that DonationCoder.com members have come to expect more from us than just keeping up with the current trends, and we understand that we have some "special-needs" users.

For a limited time, all charter/honorary members of DonationCoder.com can now generate the following license keys.  Although these keys do not unlock any additional features, they may impart additional legal rights to you should you enter an alternate reality:

Universal Sentient Pet License
Multiple Lives Reincarnation License
Family and Friends Universal Deluxe
Extra Terrestrial Galaxy-wide
Non-expiring Competitor License
Temporal-Travel Infinite Unlimited
Site-wide Nonprofit Organization
Ultimate .Net XP Pro+ Extreme! 2010

Just apply licenses as normal, by pasting them into the about box of our applications.  If anyone has ideas for other licenses that might be useful let me know.
34572
ps.

those of you who donated in the early days of the site had your forum logins upgraded manually - the new system will send you a special activation code that will turn one forum login into a charter membership.

so if you're already a member and you donate, feel free to give the activation code to a friend or give it away, etc., it will upgrade one person to full charter membership.

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Confessions from a Wiki Hater ??!?
« Last post by mouser on November 04, 2005, 12:38 AM »
ok..
i'm not a wiki lover yet...

but i feel obligated to point out that i've become a bit charmed by the accessibility of editing a wiki page..
i can see why people get addicted to it.

i stand by my position that the people implementing these wiki systems have completely dropped the ball in terms of administration support, but the management of version control history and rollback is very good, which makes up for some of this.

as brotherS kept saying - it is the ease of being able to just jump right in and edit a page that is the charm of it.

i will try to add some stuff to share login info between the wiki and the forum so people don't have to sign up at the wiki to be able to edit.

and let's see if we can get brotherS to give us an online lesson in wiki editing this month on the irc channel.

[for those who haven't seen it yet, you can visit the wiki here by clicking the "COLLABORATE" button on the top row of buttons on the forum]

jazper - care to give us some info on the programmer of the util - is it you?
34575
I need to add something:

Thank you everyone who has made this site a success - the coders who have made their software available to this site and worked on coding snacks, the beta testers and those who have contributed to the programs on this site.

Your donations have made it possible to work on this site (I still go in debt a little each day, but not quite so rapidly as I did before your donations).  And your donations have made it possible to purchase some software tools, and upgrade the server we use which has made a huge difference I know you'll agree.

I want to especially thank everyone who has made this forum a real community - a fun and informative place to come and talk.  I really had no idea it would become such a fun place, and you guys have given me a real gift in making this site someplace I love to come and participate in.  All programmers enjoy programming, but having a group of people who appreciate the work, and help make it better is a whole different level of satisfaction.

Thanks everyone, hopefully the next 8 months will be even better!
