Screenshot Captor / Re: Strange..
« Last post by mouser on January 13, 2006, 02:21 PM »
the new screenshot captor "redbox" object selection mode does use a mouseblocking hook to  prevent mouse clicks from triggering windows keypresses and clicks to enable capturing of menus.. i guess it's possible that somewhere in that process the block is being left in place.

when this happens does it only effect clicking menus and buttons from within screenshot captor?

what i can do is make an option in screenshot captor to never use this mouseclick+key blocking (so you would use right ctrl slick to capture menus, and we can see if that solves it.  you might also try rebooting just to see if its some holdover from earlier versions of the screenshot captor keyboard+mouse hook dll.

note that these keyboard+mousehook blocking i talk of are only loaded at runtime with screenshot captor, and have no other lasting effecting on your system - so if the problem happens even when not using screenshot captor, then its definitely not screenshot captor to blame.

Living Room / Re: OFFICIAL WINDOWS UPDATE for Windows Vulnerability - READ IN
« Last post by mouser on January 13, 2006, 12:27 PM »
ok this is fascinating:
listen to the mp3 or read the transcript of this new discussion that the vulnerability could have been a planted backdoor:

http://www.grc.com/securitynow.htm
(direct link to mp3 -> http://media.grc.com/sn/SN-022.mp3)

note: we've been discussing grc and steve gibson here in another thread, so take this with a real grain of salt; but expect there to be a lot of controversy over this.

steveso, i was just reading something about microsoft's early patch for the wmf trouble might be causing this for people;
if you are seeing the same problem in your windows explorer, this could be the cause.

Post New Requests Here / Re: Trigger on Mouse Hover
« Last post by mouser on January 13, 2006, 11:41 AM »
i know there there are some good existing tools to trigger when the mouse is in certain locations, or with certain gestures.  i'm hoping someone will post some.  (maybe powerpro?)
i don't think this is what mouseactivate does though..

i have had a report about this vertical line problem once before.. it seems so random and rare... i will try to track it down - your clue about first capture being ok is useful.  if anyone has any other ideas let me know.

hehehe try saying that 10 times fast  ;D

the "Links" item on the very top of every page now goes to a page with links to lots of different pages on the site.
you can get to our list of our favorite sites by clicking the appropriate entry on that page:

i thought this was important to help people find the info they need - should we change the title from "Links" to "Help?"

i've updated a new version that i hope will fix the recent opera thing that i broke in last version, give it a try; seems to work on opera now (i was doing a test to make sure the window existed before capture and for some reason opera was tricking it). 2.09.09, let me know if it works for you:
https://www.donation...ScreenshotCaptor.exe

you don't have to reboot on upgrade, just make sure it's not in the tray at the time you install new version over old.

question, if you open your normal windows explorer and choose view mode -> thumbnails, do you see thumbnails?
another thing to try, click in the thumbnail panel and hit f5 to refresh, see if that helps.

Official DonationCoder.com Reviews / Re: Priority Master 2005
« Last post by mouser on January 12, 2006, 10:37 AM »
i'm willing to bet you haven't tried our own Process Tamer yet :)

https://www.donation...proctamer/index.html

it's one of the most popular programs on this site.  it's free.

i'd be happy to hear any suggestions or feature requests you might have.

[i've edited this post in response to a conversation i had with the author of priority master; if i implied that we would be "copying" any functions of priority master that was not my intent - only to invite people to make feature requests inspired by other programs, as always.  in addition, although it was not requested of me,  the general policy on this site has been to avoid making editorial comments that our programs are better than others, and i've decided to remove my comment about process tamer being better than any other program.  those of you who know this site know that we have always encouraged users to try other apps for themselves and come to their own decisions.  one of the benefits of running this site the way we do is that we don't have to depend on hiding information about 'competing' products, etc.  bottom line: try programs for yourself, make up your own mind.  no single program is best for all people.]

Find And Run Robot / Re: New feature? multiple word searches
« Last post by mouser on January 12, 2006, 10:30 AM »
multiple word search is coming in version - long planned;
version 2 was supposed to be out by now but some other of our programs have jumped ahead of it in the queue so it's taking a little more time to get to it

wildcard * should work, but it goes into a stricter mode i think.  so for example scr* will match all entries exactly starting with scr.
and you'd have to use *scr* to find everything with the substring str.

it probably wont work with multiple ** and its not regular expression.

i've never heard of this problem that i can recall.  is there some logic to what menu entries don't show up?

Screenshot Captor / Re: Imageshack quickload

in sc's left pane (the one with the tumbnails),in the context menu of one image,not all options of the explorer's contextmenu appear,and the same applies to quickload's.Although i can use it in explorer,i can't use it in sc

The problem you reported is a known problem, SC has sometimes problems there. No big deal, but I also hope this could be fixed in the future. It's because SC uses a slightly buggy third-party component IIRC.

i had no idea of this problem.. what exactly is happening?
and yes i think its important to have a quick way to upload image to imageshack, etc. so we should get this fixed right away!

i have an idea to try but can someone tell me what exactly goes wrong that prevents it from showing from screenshot captor? it should work just like any other file explorer right click menu!

here's an exception rule to do scrolling capture with ultraedit:
EditControl;19;4;0;4;blankstop

basically that tells it to skip margins and also to work around the fact that ue cannot be trusted to not repaint over the scrolling window trick markers.

just put it in exceptions list in screenshot captor redbox capture tab (or in preferences in right click menu of redbox capture itself).
