General Software Discussion / Re: Recommend image comparison tool, please?
« Last post by tomos on October 08, 2014, 05:43 AM »
A possible alternative is ExifPro Image viewer:
I dont have it installed on this machine - but IIRC it will only show two images side by side in the viewer.
But Zoom and drag are simultaneously applied to both images, which is great for getting in there and comparing details (how does that work in Faststone viewer?)

yeah, only two images can be compared, but the synced zoom/drag is a great help (Ctrl+Drag will pan just one image). It is paid (~20$ without VAT) and I cannot see if they have a trial (must have...)

Checking focus:

Screenshot - 2014-10-08 , 12_34_16.png

I think the synced zoom and pan is key to comparing images - but maybe not so essential to compare images where e.g. you've just changed the contrast etc. (?)

works fine here -- i wonder if you dont have some other tool that has assigned alt+w and is catching it..

yeah, thanks for checking - it's actually nothing to do with CH+S:
As a hotkey, Ctrl+Alt+W also changes to Ctrl+Alt+V in other apps :o

I'm looking at my AHK file but I havent modified that in years...
will pursue in own thread if I need more help with it.

love the 'quick mouse click' to start/stop manually selected area :-*

Only got to update today: Win7 x64

I had long ago removed the hotkey to open the main window - the toggle key tempted me to add it again:
  • I am unable to add Ctrl+Alt+W it keeps changing it to Ctrl+Alt+V
  • Alt+W gets changes to 'None'
All other letter are working fiine as shortcuts, and the 'W is working correctly otherwise

It is a German keyboard which should not make any difference -
Spoiler
maybe it's pronouncing the 'W' with a German accent? :-[

(Note: Ctrl+Alt+W was previously being used by Popup quotes, so I removed it there and closed popup quotes - but the problem remained)

Four images is good going I think.

I found it great on occasions where I had to go though a lot of photos and pick out the best (e.g. wedding pics).

Thanks superboyac - very interesting stuff :-*
the hand-held controller is a great idea.

Dont have much to contribute, FWIW, I saw a couple of videos lately about the Wacom companion (I'm sure there's lots of them out there)

and a query about the Clip Studio offer (I work with vectors but in a very traditional manner; the idea of a 'drawing' being a vector is appealing though).
Query is: what's the difference between the 'Standard' and 'Pro' - going by the price difference I'd say that Standard is, eh, not up to much (?)

Definitely my kind of weird. 8)
really good as well

Saw a Mongolian guy doing overtone in concert a few years back but cant remember his name...
These were easier to find: this group played regularly in front of the Pompidou in Paris a few years back. There's a few videos of them in YT so they must have been 'in residence' for a while.

a couple of years later they evolved into this:

(I saw them around the time of the first video)
[edit] the first group at any rate are called Altai KhairKhan [/edit]

Oh, yeah, doesn't work in full screen reply here either.  Just shows:

"Preview post
Fetching preview..."

odd - works perfectly here - could it be browser based, or just chance?
FF 32.03 here

Screenshot - 2014-10-07 , 11_02_13.png

hah - I added the attachment and tried again - now it's doing the 'fetching preview' thing - unsuccessfully.
Will try clicking post...

[...] At times though, Ethervane Echo suits my needs better. It was developed by a DonationCoder member. It hasn't been updated since 2012 (maybe 2013) but I've not had any problems with it.

Here's where you can download and find a link to the developer's site.

based on ditto, a sort of a new improved version :)

hi Cuffy, if you dont want to post a screenshot, that's fine by me (honestly).
As others say though, it can be helpful, there could be something there you missed, or didnt think about.
Also, from a lazy pov, it's much easier to see something than to get something described. I help people over the phone occasionally, which is a nightmare because people dont know how to describe stuff. You seem to have done a pretty good job of that, and it is possible that a screenshot doesnt help at all beyond confirming your description, but here, people are usually able and willing to post a screenshot.

If you don't know the answer: don't reply  :-[
Thanks anyway  :D

the smileys do soften that a bit, but [1] this is dc, if you're really looking for no answers except the right one, I dunno what forum I'd recommend.. and [2] this is me - I'm no expert, and sometimes my posts just take up space - but I also often notice things, and remember things, that others initially do not, so whether I can initially help directly or not is moot to me. So I'll ignore that and give it a

Finally, does stoickjokers suggestion about sorting help?

^ that sounds like a bug -
although I'm suprised you're able to save anything in the Programs folder -
is that not usually blocked by the OS? (What's your OS?)

^ Looks like Ren has it covered but will post this anyway:

The first thread on the list there will offer a few options for looping:
https://www.donation...rch2;search=loop+mp3

Reducing the volume can be done by mp3gain:
http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/
(normally used to standardise volume of multiple tracks)

I've re-uploaded a new version of 4.8.8 -- I'd appreciate if I could get as many beta testers using it (and reporting if everything works) as possible before I release it as a non-beta.

Thanks!

were there (important) changes?
I installed it about 6 hours ago - how do I know if I have the most recent version if they using the same number?
Or am I misunderstanding :D
TIA

(as mouser says, when looking in a folder, it wont show content in it's subfolders)

Screenshot Captor / Re: Scrolling capture?
« Last post by tomos on October 01, 2014, 01:39 PM »
Right click on the SC tray icon and select the item "Grab Windows Object or scrolling window" or hit default hotkey of Ctrl+Shift+PrtScr and then select the area to capture and follow instructions.

The scrolling capture works but it is pretty complicated and not automated.  In the Hypersnap program it is a simple Ctrl+Shift+S command with the cursor positioned in the window.  It is limited to vertical scroll.  If you want to terminate the capture, just use the Esc key.

Pros and cons.

From what I've read, if you want to do captures in browser, you're better off using a browser add-on (than any screen capture app), or, in FF at least, there's an inbuilt way of doing it (there is a thread here somewhere ... see this dc post, and following posts).

Similar to what app says
-
Why I’m unfriending you on Facebook
I've gone back and forth on this.  I do want to completely stop using facebook, but it's also the main way a lot of people i know keep in touch.  Ultimately, I may not mind keeping in touch in this fashion, no offense to anyone.  But it is nice to check in and see the pics now and then.

well, the focus is on joining groups. 'Dont' seems to be the advice - and pray that no-one else joins you to any groups you dont want to be associated with.

Yup, even if you don't voluntarily join those sexual fetish groups, a friend of yours can add you to one of them as a joke, and all your friends & family will see your face and name associated with that group, recommending that they join too, on their right sidebar

It's such a weird idea - to allow other to add you to a group without your consent...
