Nice to see you keep working on this utility Ath, I like it

Besides me being convinced that all known bug should be "taken care of", I'm eagerly awaiting improvement suggestions... 8)
3227
OK, so I found a bug, all on my own , oh well, maybe that's not so good after all :tellme:

The fix was small and easy, so here is another update WinSendKeys 3.0.2

Latest release & download moved to separate thread

Here's the changelog since 3.0.1:
; 2011-03-12, version 3.0.2
; ! BugFix in detecting an active application/window
; + Added application version to helpmessage
; * Minor cleanup
; * Adapted the helptext somewhat

The readme was cleaned-up a bit by removing the change history (it's in the source), the source and compiled exe are also included in the attachment

Find And Run Robot / Re: Latest FARR Release v2.107.04 beta - Sep 23, 2012

... Mouser has made Faar so great ...

We know FARR a fine piece of software, but... have you tried to type FARR correct, or is there a malfunction in your keyboard?
3229
Have you read any of the reviews/tests of other software in this category? (There are dozens of them, not only in this site)

Reception of software in this category is quite skeptic, to say it nice, that should explain the lack of responses so far...
3230
now rinse/repeat ad eternam, with 2-5 years in each phase:

Isn't that what ALM is all about? but doing that alone can be something between daunting and boring, I guess :-\
3231
Hm, evaluating all (mixed) responses to this idea, I'm convinced that it should not be me, writing the promotional texts. The idea of having a choice of content is probably the best, categorizing between 'Just a mild hint that it's possible to donate through DC' and a 'Strong, almost begging, type of promotional marketing mumbojumbo', including an even bold link to the 'Donate to me please' page. And then some categories in between. A total of 5 choices (grades) should be enough then.
That should be a good compromise for everyone.

Because of the flexibility of the Inno Setup scripting language and the Pascal Script engine, that is all quite easy ;)

Oh, and did I mention all labels and text are user override-able? And next to that, it comes with source (has to be included in your script), and the texts in a .rtf file (so colors, bold, hyperlinks, etc. are possible), so you are still in full control.

Then for grade 1 the title above the text could be more Author-oriented, like: (Also changed the 'Userpage' to 'info page')
innoDoCopage-grade1.png
3232
If you would like to spif up the installer with a skin I've used this free tool for Inno Setup in the past:

That's not something I'll be adding, I really dislike any skins beyond the default Windows stuff, and IMHO are a big waste of energy when applied to an installer, that is only run once.
3233
I've thrown something together, except for the text that I got from the Lorem ipsum generator Renegade did a recent micro-mini-review of:

That was actually cranioscopical. I can't take credit for that. ;)
Oops :-[ :-[ my bad, I typed that up from memory, so that's where it went wrong :(
I'll fix that (both the memory and the text).
3234
Once you get it looking the way you want i'd like to see a version that is more focused on "Why you should donate to the author" rather that "What is donationcoder"

That's the kind of text I was asking for :) But I couldn't find anything that fitted the bill on the site, maybe it's there, then a pointer would help.

There is a transparent version of that cody image somewhere i can try to find it, if you can use it.

It has to be bmp format, and as I haven't checked for transparency settings in the image control, can't tell yet if that helps or even would look better...

Well, the mark is set, so somebody can start singing...

innoDoCopage-left-3links.png

And with the 'Donate to author' not #defined in the script (disables the creation of the link-control)

innoDoCopage-right-2links.png

And for those where "Cody should be on the 'right' side"  :), that's just a #define switch away

(Cody is clickable, hence the hand cursor)

Any replies are welcome,

You're sure the method was embroidery?

I'm of good faith, I simply believed what they wrote up there, but your method also looks plausible :-[

Is the site DoCo'd already? (Just like Slashdotted, but by DoCo users alone), can't get the page to show :( it gives an 'Error 503 Service Unavailable, Guru Meditation...' message.
Seems the service has rebooted and now it's working again.

If the authentication for browsers is a webpage, then I assume it could be using cookies to store any previous used credentials, but that should be provided by the proxy, and is probably not re-usable by other applications.

Most other apps I use (Avast, Eclipse, and other stuff) have in their network page a proxy setting that facilitate optionally setting the authentication parameters, next to the proxy address, so I'm afraid that there's not much hope for a common solution. You could re-use the parameters of any of the other apps to provide these to the proxy, but what common app to choose?
It wonders me (too) that Windows Internet settings page doesn't have an option to define this.

Oh, and credit where credit is due: It came from my wife's Machine embroidery forum (all in Dutch, sorry), where she posted the link earlier today.

I have a mostly typical if somewhat slightly dorky desk. It has a phone, a computer, a pencil holder, a slightly suspicious-looking robot, Cthulhu, and a keyboard.

OK, maybe your desk doesn’t have paranoid robots or cuddly gods of the netherworld, but I bet yours has other things. And I bet yours is missing something just like mine... something to rest those weary wrists on! And maybe something to up the geekiness level of your desk to new heights. Trust me, with this project, your desk will be the lord of geek. In a good way, of course. We at Urban Threads only take a positive view on geeks.
3242
Oh... It's not broken. It's just unintuitive.

I am confuzzled.

I can understand that, I'd (also?) like a few comboboxes allowing to select the criteria of the filter, on that page.
3243
Maybe a special set of physical connector should be designed for this situation, unique to that lab, and only installed on the computers over there, ofcourse.
Quite a laborious job, but then no external devices could be used on those computers, and the USB sticks could only be used in that lab. Combined with USB-Switch you could have a pretty secure operation.

worstje:
The standard procedure with authenticating proxies and other authenticating services, is to set up the credentials in your connection object, and then make the connection. The connection stuff then either automatically performs the authentication or fires an event (.NET kinda standard behavior) that you implement and return the proper credential information.

It's quite useless (iow nearly impossible) to try and catch the login page fired at browsers, as that's often a javascript page, you will have great difficulty executing in your application (JottiQ in this case)

Hm, moving house is always a good time to throw out some old or undetermined stuff :-[
3247
Reboot the machine into the USB OS and then access the files from the HDD that way

That's as unsafe as hooking it up to a network, the booting OS could be infected with something :-[

Labs like these do have specific requirements, it can take up to 5 years for a change like that to be officially processed, validated, confirmed, thought about some more, and maybe even approved :o
And then the proposed hardware add-on is no longer available or in use anywhere else :'(
3248
Ok guys & gals, here it is, WinButtons is updated to 2.0.0

A quick rundown of the new features:
  • Button arrangement, giving double-sized buttons, 1/2, 1/3rd, 1/4th, 1/6th and 1/9th sized buttons
  • Application-focus button-context switching
  • Configurable font-size, global with per button override

All changes (quite a lot...) are in the source change-history, download and an extra screenshot in the original release-post

Any bug reports  or feature-requests can be posted here.

gjehle, heads up with the move, with Baby Cody supervising I'm sure it will work out right ;)

That's a nice min-review.

I mis only 1 paragraph, and that's a comparison section, that holds this solution against similar offerings, like a web-based Lorem ipsum generator, ie. what makes this off-line tool one stand out?
