Wow. That's amazing. 4 minutes? Jeez.

the 2nd set of 2 minutes was simply removing the cyclist and reconstructing the bus...theres a whole bunch of stuff that could be fixed with what I did, but visually, from a distance, you cant really see them.

Really, THIS is more like what computing should be -- the computer doing the work that you want/intend for it to do.

The only problem with that, is a computer cant "see" what should be in the place of something, or "feel" what should be in its place...For instance, that Content Aware mearly places pixels from around the object, inwards, and doesnt always do the best of jobs.

For what it took me to hand-fix that image, would have taken me far longer using Content Aware, making sure my selection was precise, and then cleaning everything else up.

Continued for a further 2 minutes

AA!!  40hz...that 4d thing looks great.  There are too many good options for outlining out there!

I'm trying to figure out the best way to do all the stuff necessary to write a story with.  I like Liquid Story binder as an all in one package, but these outliners and stuff have certain things that are very nice.  Between InfoQube, Onenote, Evernote, now this...I don't know.  I shouldn't stress...I should just use what I have and wait for the need to arise.
Check this program out. The absolute best freebie for writers: http://www.spacejock.com/yWriter5.html

Ill double that reccomendation...yWriter is extremely powerfull for a serious writer...however, try to get everything outlines in a non-feature-heavy software first (like notepad) otherwise you will spend most of your time playing with the features, and no time writing!

Does anyone here think that those who pirate software would be likely to purchase a copy and then request a refund? I don’t think so. I think that only someone seriously considering the program would shell out that much up front. But then again I am probably way off there. Who knows anymore!

Jim

As somebody who, will openly admiot to pirating software, I can say no, we wouldnt simply request a refund.

Now let me explain more about me being a pirate **arr**

Ever downloaded a "demo" of a product, only to find out it has a severe time limit, or 80% of its functions are locked out? or simply, have no demo at all, and you have to trust other users and screenshots to shell out what could be thousands of $$,  Annoying isnt it...hows that a true 'test' period? - This is why I pirate...If I come accross software I feel I may purchase, but want to take for a test run first, and the demos (or lack there of) have these constraints, I turn to piracy, take the software for a short test-run (usually a month or two), NEVER release anything created from that peice of illegal software, and figure out if its worth my time.  If it is, I simply backup my files, uninstall, return to the website, purchase, download, install, and use as normal...if not, uninstall, delete, forget...with no hole in my wallet :)

I honestly dont care about the ethics of that, and in fact, if I made software to the price of packages like Maya and Pinnacles...I would either offer a suitable demo, or reccomend people to head off to The Pirate Bay :)

Living Room / Anybody in the UK notice the earthquake that happened?
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on January 03, 2011, 04:45 PM »
http://www.lancashir...ts_North_of_England/

The north of England was tonight struck by a small earthquake, the British Geological Survey (BGS) said.

The tremor measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale is the second to hit the region in less than a month.

The epicentre of the quake is believed to have been near Ripon, North Yorkshire, but the tremor was felt as far afield as Cumbria and West Yorkshire.

Dr Brian Baptie from the BGS told Sky News: "We believe the earthquake was in North Yorkshire, just west of Ripon in the Yorkshire Dales region."

He said it struck at 9.02pm.

Tonight's tremor is the second to hit England in the space of a few weeks.

Last month the BGS confirmed that an earthquake of local magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale took place shortly before 11pm on December 21 in Coniston in the Lake District.

Dr Aoife O'Mongain from the BGS said the epicentre of the quake was 10 kilometres west of Ripon with a depth of six kilometres.

She added: "It would have only lasted for a couple of seconds.

"And at that strength it is not likely that it would have caused any damage.

"People living in the vicinity may have felt their windows rattling as if a lorry was going past."

Other recent quakes in the UK include one in February 2008, when a major tremor centred on Lincolnshire shook much of the UK, causing damage to buildings and leaving at least one person injured.

The tremor - which measured 5.2 on the Richter scale - struck at around 1am on February 27 at Market Rasen, Lincs.

And in Kent in April 2007, another tremor measured 4.3 on the Richter scale.

Homes were damaged as chimneys toppled, walls cracked and masonry fell as the tremor hit Folkestone.

Dunno about anybody else, but I didnt feel this, and im not a huge distance from the area

simply put

whole new code, for the same results.

kind of like this:

<b>
in HTML will give you bold text

now, if you was to change that to BBCode (the stuff you use here)

[b]
would give you bold text.

Different internal code, same external results.

It could get more technical, but its along those lines :)

Living Room / Re: Anyone want to write an eBook in 2011?
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on January 02, 2011, 06:33 PM »
I think the main question is; is the following:

I understand that eBooks are hugely popular these days, but if you self publish on DTP, are you tied to them?

My reason for asking, is that, if I was to publish on DTP, I would also want to self-publish a physical version of the book also (Always nice to have a copy of your own book, in hardback, on the bookshelf).

GNU Wget has many features to make retrieving large files or mirroring entire web or FTP sites easy, including:
  • Can resume aborted downloads, using REST and RANGE
  • Can use filename wild cards and recursively mirror directories
  • NLS-based message files for many different languages
  • Optionally converts absolute links in downloaded documents to relative, so that downloaded documents may link to each other locally
  • Runs on most UNIX-like operating systems as well as Microsoft Windows
  • Supports HTTP proxies
  • Supports HTTP cookies
  • Supports persistent HTTP connections
  • Unattended / background operation
  • Uses local file timestamps to determine whether documents need to be re-downloaded when mirroring
  • GNU Wget is distributed under the GNU General Public License.

@Cyeb: No specifics on "Partial Downloading" and not dedicated to that exact thing.

@anandcoral: Great tool, very very usefull indeed.  Ill be grabbing a copy of this for when I have to use my backup Mobile Broadband connection which is heavily limited and costs a lot to keep buying more usage.

I wonder if you could add "Partial Youtube Video Download" support, for the same reasons you made this.  Sometimes you get sent multiple links for the same thing, which has 8427289 different names on youtube, and, you cannot control how much it buffers, which, the more it buffers, the more usage I get charged for haha.  No problem if you cannot, it was worth asking :D

For those who want no GUI, why not make all the functions work on a rightclick context menu that runs only in taskbar.  Obviously, if you wanted to manually input a URL then a window would come up, but it keeps it clean, and hidden ;)

As for things like bookmarking, it could add a new item to menu itself, one click load :)

In regards to muting being global, allow the user to select program mute, or global mute, as sometimes you might wanna mute the software to watch something on youtube for example.

Well done.

The page kept appearing and disappearing yesterday (presumably flaky DNS propogation and interesting attempts at routing).

Seem stable now though.  :-*

Yesterday there was some major problems with the internet backbone, amongst a few other things, which caused problems for a whole bunch of users.  I would say, only around 60% of people who tried to connect yesterday, did so with any luck, others where hit with a 404 page. (I was struck with 404 unless i used proxy)

Anyhow, all seems fine and dandy with the internet as of now, and everything is back to 100% (or as close as they can ever get to it lol)

« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on December 30, 2010, 10:46 PM »
That, and the fact that, I think most mac users are WAY to "up themselves" to ever ask for help on a forum, so finding good, usefull information, that is up to date, and actually works, is going to be a bigger task than saving £1200 to give to Apple.

Microsoft is the opposite there -- they almost care too much about backward compatibility.

Thats the sad but true fact, M$ seem to focus more on keeping old stuff working (down to like Win95) rather than focusing on creating greatness

Daily? Shoot, I can update once in *buntu and check again 3 hours later and have more. And I've seen a total of 80 patches appear 24 hours later after "fully patching" a system one day prior.

In *buntu, spoon bend you

The final factor which stopped me doing a perma-move to linux was the lack of people willing to help.  Looking on forums to see thousands of "RTFM n00b" and "wtf...stupid question...gtfo my forum" kinda put me off.  I know this happens with Winblows as well, but at least there are a few that you can find decent info on (like here); Makes you wonder if theres a forum, like DC, but for Linux...... Unlikely...anyway, the same reason goes for Mac...my main reason for not using them, is the insane pricing they have, and the fact theres a new one brought out every 16 seconds, which means, if you bought one when you started reading this, chances are, your 18 versions behind when your gonna get to the end.  That, and the fact that, I think most mac users are WAY to "up themselves" to ever ask for help on a forum, so finding good, usefull information, that is up to date, and actually works, is going to be a bigger task than saving £1200 to give to Apple.

Linux, IS, a viable option for a whole lot of people, even ones who don't even know about it, or say "nah, its not for me", but if your anything like me, then you can simply install VMWare, load a linux distro, play with it, use any software that doesnt come on winblows, and then when your done, close VMWare, and load windows back up to play those games that would require 6 hours of coding drivers for your linux distro, so they work.

Wow, that looks great man, if you can apply custom skins so we can do like and old-school steroegram style thing to it, that would plain rock :P (With the possibility of adding static noise while stations are buffering so it gives users the feel of "Tuning" haha), id use that all day long :D

1. You’re Tired of Paying for Software
 - Not really, I dont generally pay for much in the way of software, and when I do, its generally "Donation Ware" so I pay what I want...because I wanted to.

2. You’re Tired of Upgrading Hardware
 - Actually...no...thats one of my favorite times of the year :D

3. You’re Tired of Malware
 - I think I had malware once...
4. You’ve Seen One Too Many Patch Tuesdays
 - wtf is a patch tuesday?  I have automatic updates turned off, and have done since M$ decided to ship a crap load of viruses with one of the XP SP versions (dont recall which exact one)

5. You Don’t Have the Time
 - To learn a new operating system?  No

6. You Like Speed
 - Yes...this is why I have good hardware, backed up by a good internet connection...

7. You Like Sharing
 - Yuhuh, thats why I have MSN, Dropbox, Facebook, DC, and P2P software........

8. You Don’t Actually Love Internet Explorer
 - Hell no, I hate it...and the only time it ever gets loaded is if some crappy ass peice of badly coded crap that I have the misfortune of finding, decided to open it cause the coder was to goddamn lazy to simply open my freakin default browser, like any SANE person would do.......

9. You Want to Be in Control
 - There is no spoon...

10. You’re One of a Kind
 - I might be unique, but using *nix doesnt make you one of a kind...it makes you opne of a bunch of other people who use that OS...

Also, why the hell do people switch to *nix then do things like install WINE to run everything...tbh, if i was gonna install *nix, i would do command line only, no desktop enviroment...desktop enviroment/gaming is for microsoft, command line/servers is linux, anything "edity" like "photoshop" or "pinnacle studios" which _can_ run on windows, should be run on mac.
