I read lately about the name Hitler being used for a child in the States, I think it might even have been the middle name for a girl - but cant find it now - not worth finding really...

If you're talking about the same story I'm thinking about, it was a boy, and his name was "Adolf Hitler [Surname]" and the part that made it notable or newsworthy (as I recall) was that Child Protective Services threatened to take him away from his parents. But I can't remember the details of why or what eventually happened.

But none of this is really on topic for this thread. :-D

Holy carp. It's virtually finished!

There are no more items on the to-do list. And there are only about 1,500 items checked out that are awaiting finalization. I suspect if they time out, Kenshin will nab them up very quickly and take care of it. Kenshin did over 70% of the total archiving!

I guess I can shut my Warrior down. There's nothing left for me to do.

For anyone interested, you can watch the rescue in real-time, here: http://tracker.archi...team.org/friendfeed/

No wonder I can't do anything! Kenshin is doing like a bajillion items per minute! I just keep getting messages saying things like:

"Tracker rate limiting is active. We don't want to overload the site we're archiving, so we've limited the number of downloads per minute. Retrying after 300 seconds..."

Impressive!

P.S. The first two items I did took over 10 hours each. Everything else has gone much faster. I guess I just got a couple of accounts who posted a bajillion things on their friendfeeds.

It's pretty easy to set up. Just install virtualbox (or use the portable edition) and then follow the other few steps they have there.

Though I am looking into setting up a "Warrior" myself, DC probably isn't the best place to find 1,000 volunteers. You might get better visibility for this using reddit or slashdot or something.

it's not quite as bad as saying "We refuse to download this software because it will probably give you cancer", but you can see where we are going

But they already do that as well:

Chrome just says the file is malicious and the only option is to dismiss the notification. You actually have to open your recent downloads list to be able to override this behavior and download the file. Chrome itself does not mention this workaround.

Developer's Corner / Ludum Dare 32: April 17th-20th, 2015

Ludum Dare 32 is fast approaching. Only 14 days until it begins.

This thread can be used for any and all discussion of LD32 and the games that result from it. I've entered the past three LD Jams, but felt severely burned out after the last one, so I don't know if I'm going to enter this time or not. We'll see what happens.

But in the meantime, the Theme Slaughter is going on right now! Go vote on themes you like. Slaughter the themes you hate.

See previous DC posts about Ludum Dare:

Ludum Dare 30 - (I made Planetary Devourers during LD30)

^^ have you tried turning off automatically install and just play until you turn off all the touch screen services stuff?  There was a post on Ten Forums helped me to get going.  It suggested turning off the services you don't use on a desktop such as touch screen and a couple of others. Maybe the GPS service?  I forget the ones other than Touch at the moment.

Edit: I'm not sure if that works.  My memory is a bit hazy exactly when I disabled the services.

I'm not following. There is no "automatically install" option. There are no GPS or touch screen options. I'm trying to boot to the disk image. I get the BSOD before it even gets that far.

I'm not sure what the solution was, to be honest.

I tried it with the 32-bit ISO and it warned me about needing to enable PAE, so I enabled it and got to the setup screen. Then I mounted the 64-bit ISO and rebooted my VM and it worked. So maybe I needed to enable PAE to get it to work?

I'm using the same VM, but just trying to boot from the x64 ISO, so PAE is still enabled, and I'm still getting the BSOD. I tried disabling it and I still get the BSOD.

The nice thing about Windows 10 is that it brought back the BSOD:

Windows 10 BSOD.png

I get this when trying to boot from the disc image to install it in VM. I had this problem with the last preview image, but it's been so long since I installed it, I forgot how I worked around it. Maybe I should consult earlier posts in this thread to see if I left myself any hints.  :D

I can't even find the new one(s) so I guess I can't complain. :D

Oh, you mean these links?

Learnable Bluehost.png

You didn't put any link on the forum:

I don't see that blue bar. Or at least not with the learnable membership link in it.

I think Stephen was saying that there is no special affiliate link on the Learnable site. It just links directly to Bluehost.com. No affiliate link is used so that Bluehost will show the Learnable offer.

^ how does it 'run on air' :tellme:

I'd guess it runs on compressed air (CO2) cartridges, like paintball guns. And also it doesn't look like it moves very fast. Some of those shots looked like they were done in slow motion, but I think they were actually full-speed.

One nice thing about the C1 over the RPi/2 is the gigabit ethernet. I was planning to use my C1 as a Plex media server or other Owncloud/NAS type device, and I thought having a fast connection to the network would be really useful for that.
Can you hook storage to it in a way that's fast enough that gigabit matters?

It has the following storage possibilities: USB 2.x, MicroSD UHS-I, and eMMC.
