As a commentary on the whole Dilbert PHB thing, I'd die in laughter if "that IT guy in the corner" that Mgt loves to kick around decides to code their enterprise mission critical app in something like LolCode. (That's my pick for the most insulting.)

Then I can see it when that coder gets a nice lucky break and moves on, and his successor stares in disbelief at 100,000 likes of Lolcat code that the entire business runs on and goes "Oh ... My ... Gawd..." and then tries to get out as fast as possible without screwing up his references list. (Having guessed what management culture led to it at all!)

Everyone here keeps saying things about using brain cells, but for those of us with zero navigation on good days, you are supposed to be able to rely on the GPS to have a clue. So yes, if the Apple maps go from almost usable to this level of silliness, sure, that qualifies that someone goofed.

It's all becoming very political lately. They used to say the Adult industry drove innovation by adopting certain new tech first. Now we're all on a PG Disney crusade. I know, I'm not a parent, yeah yeah.

General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox Print All Tabs (to PDF)

Did you try
Print pages to Pdf 0.1.8.0 by The Ripper
Creates one Pdf from any amount of open Browsertabs,Bookmarks/-folder, Scrapbook(Plus) pages. This document can be archived, sended by e-mail or printed out with any standard Pdf Viewer.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/print-pages-to-pdf/

This still works as of firefox 17.01.

Good effort Michael, between your post and Curt's, hence why I posted this thread. That one just jammed up on the very first page and sat there. I'm on Beta 18.0, I haven't gotten fancy to try to back-load previous FF versions for these plugins yet. I was hoping it would all Just Work.

Edit: More info:
Universal Print gets jammed in creating endless new tabs, and other weirdness.
Print-Pages-to-PDF was creating blank pdfs.

Still looking.

Thanks TP, I'll investigate.  Speaking of which, now you're doing it to me also?!  Cmon man, I thought we were friends!  ;D

Doing what to you?! There's a gender problem in that pic! That would mean not only was I kidnapped to Mexico but that I didn't even notice the results of the operation!  :o

Edit: No really, that's not basic FF, that screams malware glued itself into your browser instance. You might have a good hour of detective work ahead of you! :(

I am grumpy that my iPhone won't do simple things like store files. (Not easily! There are apps that sneak around it all but they are work to use!) That's one reason I used to like cheap knockoff Chinese mp3 players - you could just plug them in and they'd store a 600 megs of music and say 200 megs of random files you just wanted to have around.

Apple made a very conscious decision no to allow very much file structure in iOS, and that annoys me because all of my quality computing runs on a file-oriented model. So yes, Iuse a cheap calculator app (wasn't that in Windows 1.0?) and a few random things, but wen I knuckle down to do work I don't like iOs at all.

From a different angle, I just randomly picked up an iPhone before Android really got going, as my one and only model of smartphone after I ditched some HTC WinMobile 6 piece of junk.

I have typed posts here at like 3AM in hotel rooms on it, so the forum mostly displays on iOS. I think there was some funny glitch a few times, but I'll leave that for later. I'm no fan of a lot of the policies of Apple, but knowing I'm in the lion pit, I can indeed get a few things done with my iPhone that weren't ever possible for me before.

2896
It's not clear. Before I power-bombed it with About:Config, at one point when I had the command wrong, making new tabs dropped me onto some Spanish page. It's like some weird defaults crept in there and were only hidden for so long by more powerful default behavior.

Summary: So I don't really think those ads are in FF proper, I watch Slashdot daily and that's the kind of thing they wouldn't stand for without an article. I'm more likely to believe ever sneakier BHO (Browser Helper Objects) and other stuff sneaking in there because you didn't scroll down to unclick a box when you installed something, but then you don't see it for a while because some other setting is over-riding it, until some random version of FF (see my other rant) breaks something and then the hidden ad pops up.

universal-print works.
I don't like it, and I don't use it, I merely re-tested to see if it still would the job.
 (see attachment in previous post)

Good effort Curt, I did try that one, but it gave me dead files that didn't open afterward. I seem to get fluke case errors apparently but 95% of my software works fine, so if something just doesn't work, it just doesn't work. I'm starting to lose track of which does which, but one of them (can't recall now if it's U-Print) kept making new tabs out of thin air so it kept trying to save blank tabs. That's bad news because keeping the item counts intact is important.

General Software Discussion / Firefox Print All Tabs (to PDF)
« Last post by TaoPhoenix on December 12, 2012, 10:09 AM »
This is bothering me because it's apparently way harder than it should be. MilesAhead did the BBSS widget that grabs tabs and creates a paired list of titles and URLs. What would be nice is to have another widget that scrolls through in the same way and saves each tab one by one.

Unfortunately, with a few web searches, it isn't easy for lil' ol' me to find one. I tried a couple of the suggested add-ons, but they don't work for me. Is that a fallout of FF being on literally 18.0? (Remember the good ol' days when we debated V3.x and V 4.x? over the course of a year? Version 18.0? Really?! Chrome envy much? Did someone discover version numbers = revenue!? )

This "can't be that hard". Scroll Tab, issue a print command, bonus feature= if it sees a duplicate (because the positions shift on Monster.com, you can get the same page twice) just append a copy2 or something the second time.

Instead I am getting nothing useful out of three search engines over a dev span of some 8 years.

Can the DC gang that specializes in "external scripts" do what no one else has been able to (easily find) in 8 years? There's only 4 features in the entire process, but I just burned 8 hours doing it manually; there's no reason it has to be that hard.

Note1: If it helps, I can set Adobe PDF Printer as my default printer in like 5 clicks, so y'all don't have to get hung up thinking PDFs are scary, I just need it to read the page, automatically append Copy2 Copy3 whatever until it gets a valid name, then save it, and move on. )
