1.2.6.3 works okay on my Vista. Was it just my imagination, or it is a little slower than the previous version, to open, and to exit?

v1.2.6.2 is working fine on my 32-bits Vista SP 2.
I didn't notice any difference from the previous version.

-this Custom Buttons site is too weird for me - I don't understand what it is; No files, no descriptions. Nothing. I will stay with Custom Toolbar Buttons; they should be outdated, but mine are working fine.

Also, the addon with the very long name Mozilla Archive Format, with MHT and Faithful Save, has a "title save", but I no longer remember "pro & cons".

Title Save is an optional feature that changes the default behavior of the browser, suggesting the document's title in place of the remote file name when saving.

https://addons.mozil...zilla-archive-format

This extension enhances the way web pages are saved on your computer.

It provides the following advantages over the built-in save system:
— A complete page can be saved as a single file (web archive)
— You can name files using the title of the page (title save)
— The saved pages are faithful to the original (exact save)

You can view and save MHT (MHTML) files, with excellent compatibility with Internet Explorer;
but more importantly, you can use the MAFF file format, with the following advantages:
— Save disk space, since MAFF files are compressed
— Include video and audio embedded in the pages
— Be universal, since MAFF is based on ZIP and compatible with Linux and other platforms
— Use an open format, with no risk of vendor lock-in

The MAFF format is exceptional when combined with the built-in browser support for the Ogg Vorbis and Ogg Theora media formats in web pages: you can save everything in a single file. You can even save more than one tab in a single MAFF file.
-MAF

Thinking about it, I am going to re-install this one right now!

Edited:

Thank you for installing Mozilla Archive Format!

Many features of Firefox have been improved by this add-on.
Web pages are saved more accurately, what you see is what you get.
You can save one or more tabs in a single file (web archive).
The title of the document is now the default file name.
You can save HTML5 video and audio, and more!

You can control which features are enabled from the extension's options.
-Welcome!

Top 10 reasons to use Extensions for Windows

Convert documents, capture and email screenshots and animations, analyze your disk space, maintain keyboard shortcuts, manage FTP/SFTP locations, create secure virtual disks, search & replace text in files, resize & convert images, create PDF documents, and more!

Save money on various tools that cost between $20-$100 each. Extensions already includes many commercial features, with more yet to come.

Save time by not searching for and assembling dozens of utilities when you need something quickly done.

Choose only those features that you need, when you need them.

Make Windows more powerful and easier to use.

Discuss, shape and influence the future of Windows features without waiting and hoping to see them in an official Windows upgrade.

Resolve Windows problems and annoyances, such as Windows Explorer forgetting your folder view settings, or Windows forgetting opened folders after rebooting.

Find reasons for certain system issues, such as why a file is locked or why your hard-drive is active.
Bring back the popular Norton Commander® file manager of the past, with a new modern interface seamlessly integrated into Microsoft Windows®.

Recommend Extensions to non-technical friends and family who may have trouble opening or converting some documents, creating PDFs, capturing and emailing screenshots, or resizing images

I see no reason to use their Screen Capture program, etcetera, but if you are running XP (or Vista) you may find that the Disk Usage Analyser and the FTP & SFTP Client are very useful.
Included is also a dual pane Explorer, and a Virtual Drive.

why can't you do a Repair Install Curt?

-OEM, plus the initial backup was lost / corrupted. Today, most companies cannot offer me a Vista installation disk, and the one that could tried to charge me full OS price, just for a repair.

-sorry. I should of course have told that I have tried many solutions, including turning off security related programs. UAC has not been enabled since day one; I am the only user.

But if the failure was done by the installer, I will contact the various companies.

Lately I have been getting "Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x5" a few times too many from different programs I was installing. But not being able to repair my ageing 32-bits Vista Home Premium, I was hoping for a get-around solution. Can I somehow force Vista to register such a DLL at next Start, or something?

General Software Discussion / How to tell a Story: Live, Lite, Turbo
« Last post by Curt on January 26, 2012, 09:15 AM »
In September 2011 Gizmo's Freeware told about Story Lite:

Free Fiction Planning Software Makes A Great General-Purpose Organizer Too
Updated 21. September 2011 - 12:26 by r.schifreen

StoryLite is a free application which is mostly aimed at those who write fiction (by which I mean novels and short stories, rather than expenses claims!).  But it's actually a great general-pupose organizer too.

It's basically an electronic whiteboard onto which you can write sticky notes and move them around.  What makes this program particularly handy is that you can zoom and pan the screen, which means you can fit loads more information on it.

If you want to try it, you can download StoryLite at http://www.storylite.com/.  It's free, and is a 19 MB download for Windows.  A Mac version is also available.
-Gizmo

I tried the program and was mildly impressed, but thought the program was not for me, because Story Lite is different from what else you have tried, and I didn't bother to learn how to use it. But of course, I need to learn how to tell a story, so I've stayed in touch.

Today I have received an email invitation to become a member of their new site Story Live:

Story Live: How to write fiction, stories, movies, film script writing, poetry, essays and more

Become you – a real writer. This site will be your first stop for all things writing related, both for fiction and script writing. All information and tools in ONE PLACE – this will save you a lot of time! Plus pro courses with top tutors in Fiction and Script Writing.
-Story Live

Story Live is offering a free "Silver" or an early bird $5 per month "Gold" membership. Gold is including tutor feedback.

In February they are planning to launch the pro version of Story Lite, Story Turbo.

Wallpapers are not meant to be changed that often. What you're asking for in real life may be a screensaver. The two best of both kinds in my opinion are Murphy's automatic wallpaper-changer, AWC, and exisoftware's Endless Slideshow Screensaver Pro. I use both.

I thought Reshade Image Enlarger was abandoned, but it turns out that it has been maintained and updated all along. (...)

Maybe Reshade really is abandoned. There never has been a follow-up on the Beta version,(edited: "ReleaseCandidate version of August 2011), and even their >*FREE* online tool< is now giving better quality than the desktop application!
