try this:
  • exit desktop coral once after you have docked it where you want it.
  • then see if it remembers its setting thereafter (there is a known bug where it loses its settings when machine reboots or shutdown).

Living Room / Re: Help Name Our Cat!
« Last post by mouser on November 17, 2007, 08:55 PM »
I remember hearing somewhere that it was a bad idea to associate a pet as a present.. I guess i'm high strung enough or new agey enough to take such warnings seriously.  If you are too you could simply make something else her "present" (the gift of naming the cat can be here present), and then the cat is welcomed to the family not as a gift but as another family member who is thereafter to share the same birthday as audrey.

Quick google search of people saying bad to give pets as presents:

Thinking about it, I think probably most of the caution against "pets as presents" is probably directed at people who are giving like a surprise present of a pet and then *assuming* that the recipient will want and care for it.  If the person is actively asking for such a pet it may not make a difference whether it comes on their birthday or not.

I just hope there's no escaped Pumas or anything at the shelter.
;D

Animals often seem to inspire kids to name them after they've been owned for a day.  Why not tell audrey to meet the cat first and then try to figure out the name that best suits it.

ps. we wrote about Textaizer previously here.
25033
Mosaizer is one of those programs you can use to take one picture and make a super high-res version of it where the individual pixels are made up of actual tiny photos.  It's got tons of options for how to build the pictures and it's one of the best free tools to do this.

Also by the same author is Textaizer which basically does the same thing except it uses colored and warped text to produce the image, for some wonderful results.

Both programs are free -- donations to the author are encouraged (see the donate link on his page).

What i should add is a command so a user can "install" an alias file or pack from the program, without having to copy the files manually to the alias directory.
25035
Note:
you can also put a .dcupdate in your subdirectory and have FARR check for updates to the .alias file.
25036
One of the big changes to version 2 of FARR was specifically to make it easier for people to write and share alias files.

So as you surmised, the solution for you is to create your own xml alias file.
If you want you can even add your own icons for the items in it, and place the alias file and icons in their own subdirectory.

Then you can distribute this alias file (or subdirectory) that the user should place in their "FindAndRunRobot\AliasGroups\Installed" directory.

It will not get erased or modified when the program is updated.

Maybe you want to custom add certain people who are known to be in league with satan, as warnings and exceptions.

For example, you might have a list of 20 people whom you know are in league with satan but who's computed numbers in not 666.

Then when someone elses number matches up with the number of one of these people, the user might get a warning like:
This person is not officially in league with satan, but because they match the number of JOHN HIGLESTONNE they should be considered potentially dangerous.

UrlSnooper / Re: UrlSnooper & WinPcap 4.01beta
« Last post by mouser on November 13, 2007, 11:15 AM »
Thanks for the tip, I will upgrade url snooper to use the newly release 4.02.

I'll post the text about the security issue -- it seems its pretty minor, it related to the ability of *local* users on your pc which might not have administrative accounts being able to perform administrative actions:

In a security advisory, security service provider iDefense has warned of a vulnerability in a device driver within the open source WinPcap library that local users could exploit to escalate their privileges.

Regardless, I have something else to upgrade with url snooper anyway so expect a new version in the next couple of days.

I once spent a week holed up in an office studying opengl graphics and lighting and shading routines.

At the end of the week I went out to a bar with friends, and I was sitting there thinking that whoever programmed the bar did a great job of implementing the lighting and shading algorithms.

Then i remembered that you don't have to program lighting and shading algorithms in real life.

UrlSnooper / Re: EVDO RevA - Network Adapter Not Available
« Last post by mouser on November 12, 2007, 01:29 PM »
i remember some discussion on winpcap discussions about how to enable modem snooping.  And it may be that older versions of the winpcap driver may see it.  There is a winpcap discussion archive on winpcap site -- see if you can find any info.  basically this is all about winpcap.

UrlSnooper / Re: Network Adapter Not Available
« Last post by mouser on November 12, 2007, 12:52 PM »
This part is key to help me figure out any problem:
I know WireShark and Ethereal present modems as adapter choices, so WinPcap could sniff it.
Have you actually tried these other winpcap-based programs and so they work? if so, then there is no reason urlsnooper shouldn't work. do they show your network card while urlsnooper doesn't?  What operating system are you using?

What's your target $/yr. for medium users?

It would be *wonderful* if you could create such a thing!  :-*

Please contact me ([email protected]) and i can help a bit.

One of the members of the forum, Okke, did an amazing job making a Delphi wrapper for FARR, and his work will probably be the most help for you since his is an example of how to recreate the C++ wrapper helper functions.

My eternal gratitude and a rare FARR Plugin Creator mug starring our mascot Cody is yours if you can do it :)

i think i understand what you are saying.. i'm just trying to figure out if it deserves a quick fix/implementation, or whether this should wait for when PT moves to a more generic per-application-rules based thing.
