My wife got a Galaxy SIII a few weeks ago. The phone has worked just fine for her, but battery life OOTB hasn't been stellar. Granted she doesn't charge it daily (not a heavy user), and only mentioned the battery life thing once ... so it may not actually be that bad.

The owners of our company (both droide fanatics) both got a Galaxy SIII last weekend. But I'm on vacation so I'm not (going to ask...:)) sure how there getting along with them.

I would go so far to say if you're searching for porn with Google Images, it's hotter now with safesearch on because they removed all the seo spam porn images. The rest can't be prevented. Cat's out of the box. Reading this thread for example made me browse for porn now just to see what the hubbub is all about when I wasn't planning to browse for porn.

(Okay, strictly in the interest of science...) Confirmed.

That is a windows setting.
The default windows clock - calendar displays a bit above the taskbar and away from the edge as well.

Correct(ish), The calendar's position is hard-coded into T-Clock based on (mimicking) the behavior/position of the default Windows pop-up calendar.

Hey, I didn't realize the NSA had a Kids Page! ;D

Yeah, remember kids...if daddy spends too much time is the basement/garage...you should tell someone. And if one or more of your parents gets arrested...you could win an X-Box!!!

It isn't that the SatNav misplaced 30,000 people, that's irrelevant - it could just as easily been a paper map, it's that the idiots completely ignored their surroundings.

Just thinking out loud here...
This is the amount of free space available on a brand-new Windows 8 Professional computer.
Windows will compress this drive when you check the "Compress this drive" box.

The default Windows compression is date based, so that currently new and frequently used files don't incur any (compression/decompression) overhead. This of easily seen in the drive cleanup utility where the checkbox to enable says "compress old files to save disk space". That and wandering through the file system in detail view will show that only the files with older dates are blue (signifying they are compressed).

As an example (because the same dates are being used), if anyone has used a defrag utility that arranges the files based on frequency of access. When you run it on a fresh install with a 30 day window ... Everything on the machine is marked as new.

So if they're using a brand new freshly installed computer...it's not going to have a lot of old files making their demonstration (complete BS) a bit of a loaded dice game.

You have totally got! to. be. shitting. me...

"She is of good behaviour and a good Muslim.
While I normally detest the PC crowd...I am reasonably sure there was a better way of phrasing this (e.g. WTF does her being Muslim have to do with anything?!?). She's a descent/honest person...and therefore should be left alone.

"Against this background, I accept on the evidence before me that this defendant gathered together the contents of the SD card in order to explore and understand the charges which her brothers faced.
Nice (starkly midevil horror show) windup for the "It's just so out of my hands/the law is clear.../there is nothing I can do..." pitch - The hanging will be at 5 tomorrow (bring the kids!).

"There is no evidence that she was motivated by their ideology or was preparing to follow them.
Which last time I checked meant she wasn't guilty of anything, so let her go..!

"She had damaged what could have been a potentially blossoming future by committing these offences."
Now this kind of 5 star completely obtuse bullshit makes me want to strangle someone just for allowing it to come out of their mouths. She hasn't damaged a god damn thing! All she did was read a book with the heinous intention of educating herself. The judge and the rest of his merry band of hench-tards. have with great intent completely destroyed this poor woman's reputation.

But, said the judge, the material could have aided a terrorist and such serious offences would always carry a prison sentence.

Derp! ...Yeah, like the encyclopedia Britannica which includes all of the aforementioned information and more! That's just stupid beyond words.

But really - it's only the charms thingy that's the real problem, but boy does it drive me nuts - I even tried a registry tweak to remove it - unsuccessful.

Sure, but it will end with a false positive.

and a left and right touch

That one drove me nutz for the longest time. But ultimately it wasn't that hard to get used to the touch and hold version of right clicking...especially since the hold time is adjustable (mine's quite short).

I'd be inclined to wonder how complicated (if at all) the web code to upload a picture would be. If it's easy enough to do, and you're not planning to provide guest internet access. Then you could set up a temporary local web server (IIS comes with windows) that had an upload pics to wedding party option on the main page. Then have the WiFi's WAN gateway sent to the local web server so all web requests go directly to it (might require a redirect script, but it makes for a can't miss target.).

It's totally hands off (mosaic display software would just target the server's upload folder), and would it open up the possibility of letting folks browse all the photos taken live without risk of deletion. side benefit being as it's a closed loop there is no risk of data leakage.

Whenever I think of all the user experience, muscle memory, and subconscious work patterns that went out the door with Metro (like they did with that effing 'ribbon' in Office) I just want to scream. I now have to look at the screen in order to do anything with Win8.

hehe ...Long as they don't screw with the keyboard shortcuts, I don't much care what they do with the UI. I can still function.

And I'm still unimpressed with the new interface and general changes in how to do things. It seems very unnecessary to me.

Kind of like not wanting to deal with all the hassles involved in cranking-up a horseless carriage, when the horse was (always on and ready to go) so much simpler/easier/faster...  :D

While I do love horror flicks, really, these kinds of pranks are kind of unfunny. I've seen others like this and was amazed that nobody got hurt. Too many pranks put people into a possible "fight" mode. One of these days, someone is going to get killed.

It reminds me of that Egyptian television prank where someone did get punched a few times.

Can you imagine the second part of the video above done in Texas? Someone would think it's a zombie, pull a gun and shoot the actor in the head. Would you blame him? I wouldn't.

I wouldn't either, which is why I cringe everytime I see this kind of shit being pulled. And Tao is spot on with the "cherry picking the screams like a little girl types" comment. It's "Just Good Television"...and if they do get somebody killed ...(Well Yahoo!)... Now there at the top of the 6 O'clock news too! It's complete insanity.

I often do "not get" much of what passes for "humor" these days.

I'd consider that to be a good thing... ;)

Seminole High School locked down after student brings mercury-filled thermometer to class for chemistry project[/size][/b]

http://www.wtsp.com/...own-over-thermometer

One student brought in mercury -- contained within a thermometer -- and the school went into lockdown.

Deputies say the thermometer was discovered as the substances were checked before going through the school.

No one was put in harm's way,
but a hazmat crew was there as a precaution.

In-fucking-sane...

Guess we shouldn't tell these people how the thermostat for their heating/cooling systems work then huh?
(Hint: Mercury switch... (Derp!))

Developer's Corner / Re: Uninstall old tclock, install Windows 8 Tclock10
« Last post by Stoic Joker on December 05, 2012, 11:46 AM »
Hm...

By Tclock10, are you referring to T-Clock 2010? Because that's not for Windows 8. It does run on it...(for the most part)...but there have been some issues reported with it becoming unresponsive. I am currently no-longer developing T-Clock due to time constraints.

T-Clock autoloads at Windows startup by placing a shortcut to itself in the startup folder (at user request). This is the only method it uses to load. If an alternate method to start it is used (and it's being unresponsive) it can be closed with the command line using the /exit switch (i.e. C:\T-Clock\Clock.exe /exit).

Other then that given that "open" doesn't necessarily have to mean running...another (security) application may have the clock files locked preventing their deletion.

I'm still pondering how they're going to settle this with the federal government.  I will assume the feds will blackmail them into submission like they did Texas over the legal age of drinking.  When the government made it so you had to be 21, Texas said "If your old enough to fight in a war, your old enough to drink" and left it at 18.  The feds (illegally) threatened to withhold federal highway funds unless Texas changed it to 21, and they caved in.....

Now that is a damn fine question.

I agree with Texas ;)

*former* Microsoft executive.

If he still was executive there and people did as he, perhaps Microsoft would be in a better... state? ;-)

Perhaps... but conversely, how many times have you looked at Windows/MS X and thought are these friggin people stoned?
