PE never seems to appear in the task bar - not even momentarily.
That is really strange, but I have no more clues :'(

I'd be proud to hang that on a wall somewhere close to my computer, where I can enjoy it (nearly) every day :-* :-* :-*

Found the registry key on the FAQ page, it's under HKCU\Software\Sysinternals\Process Explorer

You may have issues with the stored settings, somewhere in registry (not sure where exactly it's stored though). If it's terminated/stopped while minimized, it'll restart minimized the next time. But clicking the taskbar icon restores it like any app, and your step 4 wouldn't happen.
Maybe eradicating the registry entries and retrying could help you out?

And I'll take a look at Process Hacker later ;)

The only disk where I never gave done this fix is one that is mounted vertically with the power and SATA connectors on top.
OT:
That's the only position that's not allowed/recommended by most manufacturers :-\

The default for save is in memory for the current session only (for testing purposes). So everything defaults when the GS is restarted. If either .ini or reg is selected (reg setting override ini settings), then GS should store and reuse the given configuration. Last Position was tested to be multi-monitor friendly.
But I've set it (before, and still selected) to store settings in GotSpace.ini...
It does get saved if I first move the window to the desired position, open options, and press OK to save. That's not as *I* expected :)

And an issue report:
  • 'Save position' doesn't seem to save the last position used when GotSpace is closed, but only when configuration is saved

1.  Option to not display removable drives with 0 used - I've 4 card reader slots, which always show as removable, always 0 used apart from the 20 seconds a week when I'm transferring pics.  If I disable removable in the app I lose these, but I don't get to see my external HDD or USB sticks.
You could exclude the specific driveletters by setting these in the Options panel (F8).

Did you also try with %FARRDIR% in all caps? that might help...

Developer's Corner / Re: How do I Start a Ribbon Project?
« Last post by Ath on December 30, 2011, 03:06 PM »
My primary objective is to get started with the newer, slicker (looking) IU for the project
Then Ribbon UI should be a part of your WPF based interface stuff :D

Yes VS2010 is the only route if you are going to do WPF/XAML, all previous version suck at that.

Maybe WPF is what you should start at, and drop in a Ribbon as the Menu replacement, as is often done, the semi-official guide to WPF is Josh Smith, with Sacha Barber as a good complement ;)

A few tips (in random order):
  • Get VS2010, (and upgrade to VS v11/2012 as soon as it arrives) "The latest is the greatest" counts triple for MS dev-stuff :)
  • MVVM is good for a big any project, if MVVM is the right pattern to use...
  • WPF/XAML is what a ribbon UI is built upon (and you need at least VS2010 for decent XAML support)
  • With a C/C++/Java/Pascal/Cobol (read: non-VB) background I'd opt for C# as the language, only choose VB.Net if that's what earning you a living already (no war please, just being practical).
  • Read the Ribbon UI 'guide' on MSDN before you do anything with a Ribbon UI

And such a useful tool too

nobody can really say for sure whether it is or not
Hm, but who can assure that any outsider can tell from a piece of sourcecode, applicable to hardware they don't know, if there are bugs or 'undesirable features'?

Guess the comment by mwb1100 is closest to reality: The producers of these hard/software combos have high standards to live up to, are checked scrutinized at irregular, unannounced, intervals, and the end-product is thoroughly tested before it's put into an actual patient. If it's FDA-, or other health-related agency, approved, I'll take it any time I need it, without any hesitation.

Can you make a "Real portable Application"?
"PortableApps.com"

That's a joke, right?
Must be a joke, the installation instructions explicitly explain how to install the portable version

Oh, and a laugh for the (silly) joke ;D

Did you activate the 'Text object' toolbar button to draw a text rectangle and type the text in there?

« Last post by Ath on December 21, 2011, 06:14 AM »
Hm, don't know how useful or effective it is, it's complaining that over half of the running processes, with dll's from the system32 directory, it can't find the file? Weird, as it claims compatibility with x64 Windows. And the advice is to 'Check with Security Task Manager' a product to be bought from that same site; sounds like one of those "helpful free security tools" that are designed to trick you into buying something you don't need :-\
