Interesting, FreeOffice is always free and has been for a couple of years.  Now they've also added the Android non-HD version available for free download.

That's usually the result of trying to use a pirate version or bypass the licence checks in Opus.

Didn't know that, thanks - though I see it can also be caused by not completely removing a prior installed illegal copy before a legit copy was installed.

Benefit of the doubt and all that :)

Hmm, I'm not using https and it still shows blank space where people are obviously referring to something that should be where the blank line(s) are.

The next obvious question is then: What addons are you using that could cause it?

Have you tried Firefox Safe Mode, (hold down Shift while executing)?

If you don't need 8.3 names at all you can disable them for NTFS partitions by opening an elevated CLI and entering:

fsutil.exe behavior set disable8dot3 1

It'll also increase the filesystem performance a little.

BTW, you're using an old version of DOpus 10 - last was 10.5.7.0.

Otherwise, you best bet is to ask in the DOpus Resource forums.

^Good to know. I wasn't aware of that. But I just checked and I used http not https so it wasn't that.

Don't use HTTPS to view DonationCoder not don't use it in links :)

If you go
Code: Text [Select]
  1. https://www.donationcoder.com/
you'll find that any "in message" YT videos will disappear - it's a good bandwidth saver ;)

This subject has come up before in the forum - I normally don't see the videos because I use HTTPS almost everywhere.

And if you're wondering why I put the link in a code box, DC will change it to HTTP if you're viewing by HTTP, and HTTPS if by HTTPS protocol.

HTTPS:

HTTP:

Using 5.6.13 here, maybe you should put in the full path back to the binary.

To put it another way, was there a link in your post about Riks?

Don't use HTTPS on DonationCoder, otherwise you won't see the YT videos ... unless, of course, you don't want to see the YT videos.

Code: Text [Select]
  1. mysql -u%%flaUserNameOK% -p%%flaUserNameOK% -h%%flaDatabaseHostPC% -e ‘create database %%flaUserNameOK%’

The above line from Shades' command file show two leading % for variables in the mysql command.

Significant?

Oddly enough, you line worked here, as did Shades', (had to add --explicit_defaults_for_timestamp, probably because of the version I used).

Do you get any error message?
Anything?

@questorfla: I really think just a post in one forum or the other is sufficient to bring us out of the woodwork ;)

Is that a pledge to polish off his problem?  I'm sure he was just paranoid his query wood gather dust.  I mean he doesn't seem like the type to go against the grain.  ;)

I'm thinking more of the possible answers all being in one place ... as questorfla has demonstrated by answering his other topic but not this one, and I've also been caught out by the same :)

To access files protected by UAC, it still requires the end-user to run PowerShell 'As Administrator', and that is what the OP is trying to avoid, IMHO...

DUH!  I forgot I don't have a password on the Admin account on this machine, so creating a shortcut with the command worked fine.  Oh well ...

I can write a wrapper for this by myself (AutoHotkey).

Hope we get to see the results  ;)

There's also Windows Powershell, good for anything Win7 or later, (since it's already installed):

Code: Text [Select]
  1. powershell -Command "(gc test.cfg) -replace '12.34.56.78', '12.34.56.90' | Out-File test.cfg"

@questorfla: I really think just a post in one forum or the other is sufficient to bring us out of the woodwork ;)

Contro mentioned OnTopReplica in this thread.

While is doesn't automatically create the windows from the jumplist it does display a realtime thumbnail of any window you choose and can be run multiple times for multiple windows.

Perhaps someone might be able to make a wrapper that would grab a jumplist and call OnTopReplica with the window handles, putting the resultant windows within a boundary area.

That certainly is the key feature for me.  I just bought this one, I should have it by tomorrow:

Woohoo!!!  I won!!!

Wish I could afford to get one here but they want close to double the price ... I really, really hate the OzTax  :-\

Re. BTSync, having used it across both LAN and Internet I'd say it's fine if you only want to sync up to a couple of thousand files total.  I uninstalled it after using it for 12+ months because for 30,000+ files it was more annoying than it was worth.

My bad, could have sworn I put the link in there ... fixed.

Just search for PirateBox on Google Play otherwise.

If you want to get really serious about stopping images loading, (or anything else), try the QuickJava addon.

Allows quick enable and disable of Java, Javascript, Cookies, Image Animations, Flash, Silverlight, Images, Stylesheets and Proxy from the Toolbar. This is great for increasing security or decreasing bandwidth.

Loading images on demand would be the best solution

Yes, I don't understand why the idiots at least don't allow the loading of an image when you click on the placeholder, just like you used to be able to.

Technology ... going backwards every day.  :-\

It would help if you mentioned the online service you used so we're not suggesting it.

Be that as it may, Zamzar.

I just checked it with a 3.8MB PDF consisting of images and formatted text and the converted result was a 25MB Word DOC file with images and reasonably formatted text.

No point organising the fridge, cupboard, suitcase, or any form of storage here - as soon as the wife gets into it any form of organisation goes out the window.

How much file space are we talking about?

Simple solution if you don't mind an open WiFi:
  • A rooted Android Smartphone with OTG capability, (@superboyac: considering the number of posts you've made in the last couple of years, you must have a box full of spare phones :P )
  • OTG cable, (powered if you want to run a portable HDD instead of flash drive).
  • A flash drive for file storage.
  • This app.

Flash drive and OTG cable not even required if you use a 32GB microSD card and it's enough.

If you went and got a TP-LINK MR3020 for what you wanted here, install PirateBox on it.

Self-contained, self-powered web-based file sharing.

General Software Discussion / Re: Best Linux Distro for Windows HDD recovery
« Last post by 4wd on December 02, 2014, 07:04 PM »
If the BIOS can see the HDD, I'd also try Testdisk from within Windows - it may or may not see the HDD, if it does you can recover almost every file off of it.

The Testdisk site also has a list of recovery LiveCDs.
