Screenshot Captor / Re: How to capture drop-down menus?
« Last post by mouser on December 05, 2008, 12:45 PM »
For Screenshot Captor, from tray menu you can toggle the delay capture mode and autocapture mode (set times in options dialog):

most screenshot programs, like screenshot captor, will let you take a sequence of images automatically in a timed fashion.

however 40hz's idea of using a screen recorder to capture basically a movie, where you can extract the particular images you want after the fact has some real merit in some cases and is definitely something to consider.

If you want to capture ONLY the dropdown menu, use Screenshot Captor's object capture.

If you want to capture the screen with dropdown menu dropped, just hit prtscr like normal -- nothing special to do.

Now, if you want to capture only the active window, with the dropdown menu dropped, THEN you might have run into a problem, since the default hotkey for active window capture is ALT+PRTSCR and when you hit the ALT key the menu will close.   The solution in this case is to change the hotkey for active window capture to something else, like SHIFT+PRTSCR.  I probably should have not made ALT+PRTSCR the default hotkey for active window because of this reason.

DcUpdater / Re: bug: all updates shown twice, any idea?
« Last post by mouser on December 05, 2008, 05:23 AM »
the key giveaway is the DcUpdate File lines you pasted at the bottom.
it thinks it found 2 sets of .dcupdate files.

how are you launching dcupdater? did you install it using the installer?  knowing these answers would help me a bit.

regardless, i will fix this on my end -- thanks for the clues, i think others had this problem but until now i didn't realize what the problem really was.

Testing it all i can say is: WOW.

Really really really cool.  The activate/deactivate stuff is extremely cool -- and this works for ALL fsubscript stuff not just czb pack so you've really added a lot to that!

And the new html settings system works great -- Supercool.

A couple of things:
1) can another line be added to each item in the fssc list which shows author info and web page link?  Maybe also a line with sample usage?  or these can all be combined into the description field.
2) when an fsubscript script is disabled, it probably shouldnt show up in the aplugins list
3) i think the settings stuff and the script listing/disabling should be part of the official fscript release when it goes final -- no point in not having this amazing functionality.
4) i think in aplugins list, there should be some indication of which items are fsubscript scripts vs. standalone plugins.
5) double clicking an fsubscript script in the aplugins list should bring up fssc i think.

I would also like to start bundling f(sub)script into the farr releases -- there is absolutely no reason anyone should have to live without this.

A long time DC member who is not as active on the forum but is very active in the daily DonationCoder Chat Channel is in the hospital again, with a relapse of his past serious infection.

Last time we sent him postcards and it really cheered him up and made him seem like a star celebrity in the hospital, and it seemed to help, so i'm hoping we can do so again.

Here is his address, please send a postcard if you can:

can you explain a little more what is happening?
is it happening no matter what window you try to capture -- or only when you capture certain windows like from movies?

It's autohotkey (ahk): http://www.autohotkey.com/
once you install it you can easily compile the .ahk to .exe as well.

ps.
skrommel used to post all his snacks in .ahk and .exe format here until he got lazy!

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Need undo!!

you could have simply exited and said NO to saving.

but anyway, for recovery:
  • exit LBC.
  • make copies of your backup files and your main file (copy your whole directory or whatever)
  • ok now move your bad .mcf file (thats the file with the real content) to a safe place.
  • and copy one of your backup .mcf.bak or .mcf.bk2 to filename.mcf
  • of if you've made *explicit* backups using the maintenance menu, they will be anmes FILE_date_.mcf
  • and then restart.

now the main danger with recovering from backup is that you will mess up and overwrite your backup files in the process, so please do make a copy of everything safely before trying to restore stuff.

keep in mind something that may confuse you.  LBC uses 2 files, a .mcp and a .mcf
the .mcp is what tells it which .mcf files are loaded.  the .mcp file gets backed up but it's really pretty insignificant.
the files you care about are .mcf files.  usually you have only one .mcf file open at a time but you can have multiples.

let me know how it goes.
email me at [email protected] if you need more help.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / FSubScript Feature Requests
« Last post by mouser on December 03, 2008, 11:10 PM »
I thought it might be useful to start a new thread for feature requests and future work discussion of the amazing FSubScript multiscript plugin which is described here: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=15686.0

I'll start off with a major and minor feature idea.

Major one:
This is not restricted to FSubScript, but could be used by other plugins and even aliases.  The idea is to have a system by which it would be easy to let users customize options for a plugin by simply letting the plugin writer design a simple html form that was shown in the embedded html result mode, and have farr auto populate the values and auto save them using the new User Variables fields.  This would make offering options for a plugin or alias 1000x easier than it is now, for both coder and user.

Minor one:
Define some variables in the subscripts like author, version, description, webpage, sample usage, etc. and auto show these when the user types "pluginalias help".
