I think you've changed it, and it does indeed look better.  I did like the band on the left of the quote, which seems to have gone away now.

@wraith808
The third picture in the first post ("a Clueboard Rev 2 that I paid full price for") is 4.616 KB - and that is a lot for a poor connection or a so-called smart phone.
I don't think you can see any difference between the original (huge) PNG and this (compressed to 80%) 347 KB JPG :

[ Invalid Attachment ]
-compressed jpg

So, less quality and more compression will let you upload all of your pictures into the one and same post ;-)

In my ire, as I had many different versions of those photos, I might have attached the wrong one, as I'd reduced the size on all of them.  It just doesn't tell you which or why in those terms.  So I was over and over selecting images, resizing them, etc.  I have a version sitting there that's 253k.  But in my having to delete and add and redo posts, I selected the wrong one apparently- it's not even the literal image I meant to upload.  I was getting frustrated by that point.

Which brings me to another issue- the attachment numbers.  They have attachment 1, 2, 3, etc beside them.  But that doesn't adequately show the number that will be in the attachthumb.  And if you're not naming them (as I wasn't in many of them that I uploaded) that can be frustrating and make them non identifiable.  In the post, that particular image is labeled attachment 4, i.e. [ Invalid Attachment ].

Looking at the post, attachment 4 is the redscarf.  It appears to be something in the way things are renumbered when an attachment is deleted, though it doesn't change the tags in the posts.  Maybe.  The correct image is there now, and as shown it's 107KB.  I was paying attention, but a lot of it was my own frustration at the process coming out, especially with the lack of clarity in the errors.

Interestingly enough, when posting this, I noticed this clearer (if not correct) note following the posting:

Allowed file types: txt, jpg, jpeg, gif, mpg, png, zip, rar, 7z, ahk, fbs, mov, avi, mpg, rm, exe, mid, mp3, wav, grid, opml, tgz, gz, xml, ini, alias, wma, ogg, xz, pdf, apk, wmv, mp4, asf, webp, webm
Restrictions: 50 per post, maximum total size 16000KB, maximum individual size 16000KB

So perhaps if we increase it to that actual amount, or make it agree with the error.

That would only work if the window that's doing it is known, wouldn't it?  Or is there some other functionality that I just don't know that's there?

Oh, and the minimal instructions on using it can be found at https://msdn.microso...242713(v=vs.60).aspx

Bitcoin has a problem when one its most ardent supporters you know says things like this:

Quote from: Renegade on November 11, 2017, 01:21 AM
I don't send my friends BTC. I send fiat.

That was taken horribly out of context.

I don't send my friends BTC. I send fiat. Because it's less valuable. I HODL.

In other words, he sends fiat because fiat won't go up in value.  Bitcoin will.  BTW, HODL means to hold, as many people do with stocks.

Quite the collection you've got there!

Approx. how much does one of those things cost to make?

It really depends.  In the 40% family picture, there's this one custom one - the kb45p (which is the one on the bottom left).  That's my cheapest one at about $100.  You can make them cheaper- I just had to get custom plates cut which drove up the price.  That purple one that I just made on a whim was about $102.  Both of those prices are without the keycaps.

The economy of scale and quality come into play quite a bit.  One-offs are inherently more, and if you can get a lot of people to join in, they're inherently less.  And mass market is definitely a lot less.  But for a keyboard in a reasonable range, of reasonable quality from a storefront, I'd say about $150 or so without the keycaps.

My wife and daughter's keyboards, I started with a standard keyboard I purchased from amazon, and just got the custom keycaps for the boards.  So those were a lot less, as they keycaps on those are from non-top line manufacturers.

My daily drivers (the two clueboards) were $180 just for the keycaps, and the boards themselves were $229 for the dent and ding board, and 260 for the non-dent and ding.

Then I had to provide the switches; I tend to get them on massdrop in bulk when they have them, so they were just sitting around.  For 120 gateron brown switches (which is what I tend to run) it's about $25 from there.

My most expensive board is probably my JD45- that was a complete custom with custom case and bluetooth.  OR my ergodox, which I haven't put together yet: 276.98 for the kit, but not sure if I'm going to switch out the keycaps which would drive it up more.

I'm not sure if this is where this goes- I though there was a section for problems with the forum.

I was updating a post with a lot of images.  I was going to use imgur, but because of the size of the images when placed, I decided to try to upload them to the forum.

The bane of my existence:

Your file is too large. The maximum attachment size allowed is 8000 KB.

Does it mean the individual file?  I don't think so, since I reduced them by a lot.  One is 2.75MB, and it gives me this image.

So then I thought it might mean the total of all the files, and the message was just stupid.  Nope, experimented with that (i.e. removing an image and then adding another one) and got the same error.

I'm close to giving up on the post, since I've been trying to do this for an hour and can't get past it, even splitting it.

The sad thing is I have more assembled and unassembled.  I'm hoping to move into my new office soon, and have shelves to put them on and display them to make me at least think that I don't have a problem.

I've been working more lately on keyboards- but forgetting to post them here!

First up is one I did for Halloween.

KBD75.jpg

It's a 75% board- it has the arrow keys, and a column of keys to the right.  It also has the function key row.  But it's still pretty compact.  I updated it with a couple of Halloween themed artisans (a ghost and an orange gradient), mostly because my daughter got on me that a starburst and an anchor are not Halloween themed!

One of my daily drivers:

9 10 17 5 01 PM Office Lens.jpg

It's a Clueboard Rev 2 off of Dent and Ding.  Silver Case and GMK Plum.  Interestingly enough, even though I got the parts cheap because of dent and ding, I can't tell that there is any imperfection!

My other daily driver is a Clueboard Rev 2 that I paid full price for with a gray case, and GMK Honeywell.

Clueboard 1 - Cropped-50%.jpg

The one below that in that image is a Red Scarf Ver.B.  It was my daily driver, and I can't bring myself to break up with it.

It would help if you gave a country, not all mobile networks are the same, ie. the bands available in one country might not be available in another thus limiting what model to buy and where from.

It would seem to be Japan from the signature...

A virtual drive I've not seen in OneDrive, but it does act as a virtual folder that will let you pick and choose how much of what (if anything) will get synced to the local machine (Account tab--> Choose folders button).

The lack of encryption with OneDrive makes me a bit nervous ... I've been thinking of scrapping mine.

I've seen and make use of that feature- some things I want to sync to the cloud, but don't want to sync to other machines, and I use this to facilitate that use case.  As for the encryption bit, most of my use of it doesn't have sensitive information.  PDFs, ePubs, Media, and such.  For encrypted things that should be secured, I use s3 and encrypt it client side, though it seems like 3.99 a month for pCloud client side encryption would be a more seamless and less manual approach.

And I think Deo was referring to OneDrive Files-on-demand.  That's been in there a while, and I've tried using it before, especially because of integration with O365.  It seems to use a uri to the file to manipulate it directly in the place you sync to on the server.  I've had problems with reconciliation that requires a manual fix, and documents that were supposed to be there and synced, but I can't find anywhere for extended periods of time from another computer.

I haven't tried pCloud on another machine, so maybe it has similar issues.  I did use JungleDisk in this manner before they discontinued it for consumers, and it worked flawlessly, so hopefully pCloud will also.

Isn't this what OneDrive used to do, then Microsoft removed that feature, and now they've just added it back again last month in the latest version (Fall Creators Update) of Windows 10?
I don't know; I've never had a virtual drive installed by OneDrive. A couple of others had the feature but they weren't sync clients exactly. I use OneDrive pretty extensively, and haven't seen that option, but then again, I haven't gone looking for it.

How would you do that in Windows 10?

Intro:

With the largest players removing the ability to have personal folders and share easily, I've been wondering the options.  I like Project Send (which I reviewed), but I don't want to go through setting that up in all instances.  Someone whom I support via Patreon sent me a link, and I was impressed at how transparent it all was.  So I looked into pCloud.  Still not totally sold, but I'm willing to give it a try because of the cool features.

Who is this app designed for:
Basically anyone who needs to share files in a secure and convenient way, but doesn't want to rely on public or expensive services.

Review

After creating an account, it showed the obligatory "take these steps to get more space".  I did, and am now at 14GB.  I downloaded and installed the client as a part of this process, and encountered the one thing that immediately set it apart to me.  It created a drive on my machine- a virtual drive that does not store files locally.  From the FAQ:

By installing pCloud on your computer (through its desktop application pCloud Drive), the app creates a secure virtual drive which expands your local storage space. Every change you make in your pCloud can be seen immediately on your computer, phone or tablet. All your devices are instantly synchronized and you have direct file access to any update you make.

So the 14GB that I have from pCloud shows up as a drive on my PC, but doesn't take up space on my PC.  There are positives and negatives to this for sure, but personally, given my use case, the positives far outweigh the negatives.  I imagine it's not immediate like the propaganda says- there is a cache folder maintained on your PC where these files are cached and uploaded, I'm sure.  It does appear pretty quick in uploading and downloading however.

You can also pay an additional amount to encrypt everything client side with zero knowledge if you want.

It's promising as I said.  My concerns are towards not knowing the company, or anything about where they store things other than the company is in Switzerland.

Why I think you should use this product

If you have to share files with others- either on a regular basis or in groups, this makes it pretty simple, without having to go through setting up any services to do so.  It also does the same thing as Dropbox, Onedrive, etc, and you can host a file in the public folder on your own account, as you used to be able to with Dropbox.

How does it compare to similar apps

So far, favorably.  All of the same functionality, and a little bit more.
