After installing CCEnhancer, the "Vim" entry disappeared from my CCleaner, that's why...

General Software Discussion / Re: Linux webserver du jour?

For my own little webserver I've been using lighttpd which has served me pretty well, and is probably what I'll end up using unless there's better suggestions. This thread is mainly to see if there's something even better, since I haven't shopped around for httpds for several years :)
I use cherokee which supports Ruby rather well and is quite lightweight, too.

Finally they added my Vim cleanup to the "official" list.  :D
(Whch was the only reason for me to switch to BleachBit every now and then.)

Still, it seems to be missing in CCEnhancer?

Î am currently switching from FileZilla to Cyberduck which has a funny look and feel.  :D

General Software Discussion / Re: Process Explorer 14
« Last post by Tuxman on November 17, 2010, 07:43 AM »
I just tried it and went back to the old version. When I close the window of v14, the process keeps running on the background and I need to manually kill it using the regular windows explorer.
I remember v12 to have done that, too. Or was it the tray icon functionality?

It was just an unobtrusive hint for the mapping abilities... so when it comes to WordStar bindings, Vim does that well, too.  :)

Ah yep, web advertising. A very interesting subject. It's a shame to have to keep up in order to be able to avoid ad display in the near future.

BTW, as I recently have read something about "20 years of WWW":
The WWW (Google's reason to exist) was developed on a NeXT. So, maybe, we shall blame Apple?

Well, Directory Opus does not do it so different, right?  ;D
1987
I already knew that.  :P

Oh, and BTW, as we are not talking about "free" editors anymore anyway:
Has anyone checked out this yummy editor?

For what I see, it rocks.

 :-*

If it wasn't so pricey ...

Tuxman, what's your issue with E?
All these "TextMate-style" text editors are very similar to each other. A small set of features, and the only "superior" feature is the ability to use bundles, oh well... (also, e uses Cygwin for implementing that! Ridiculous.)

Maybe I haven't quite found the "wow" of it yet, but I'll try some other day.
Probably.

Full ACK @ ecaradec.  :)

UltraEdit has some text display glitches for me.
A pity, as I'm like "well, let's try some other editor than Notepad++ as my Vim fallback" right now, and UE does what it should.
(At least it does way better than e and InType and whatever they are called.)

So - still no way out.  :)

(n.b.: PSPad tends to be slooooooow on my system, so... whyever.)

Tuxman, why don't you help the rest of us out and start a thread about...
Because they are no

app103 is right.
You could also press F2 instead.

Batch renaming with numbered orders is already a Windows Explorer feature.

General Software Discussion / Re: What's the best The BAT! version?
« Last post by Tuxman on November 08, 2010, 06:43 PM »
The Bat! is a solid mailing application. I spend some time with it now and then, and if I wouldn't be a Thunderbird-addict, I would probably use it exclusively. It's just that it came too late.  :-[

f0dder: Ah, thanks. I thought the engine would make the machine.  :)
(Haven't tried SciTE for a while either.)
1997
SciTE is quite the same as Notepad++, right?
1998
Vim can.

:%s/\n\{2,}//g or something should do.

5 minutes of trialling e made me "meh", so it is rather unlikely ...  ;D

Hm, OK - forgot about the trial.

I'll trial it next week, not really much time right now. Last time I tested it, I was not really convinced anyway.  :)
