Oh, i thought that netsetman was able to do that :(

But i just made a quick search and found this on the ahk forum! :D

So, do you want me to make a script that will check the ssids, and when it changes to one on a predifined list, run the associated batch file?

PS: here's the doover thread, probably it would be useful.

Oh! Now i understand :)

I think there's a better solution for you.

AHK comes with a "autoscriptwriter", which is included in the extras/ directory.
That allows you to record your actions in a window, and then have them reproduced in the other windows.

Another great option (and possibly a better one), is skrommel's doover, which does basically the same as autoscriptwriter but might be easier to use.

Damn AVG... It's not the first time it has a false positive. See here.

Regarding the rtf file... I attached it to this post ;)

This looks like something that falls into coding snacks context.
I can't quite understand exactly what you mean, though... Could you give an example of how this would be useful?

I don't want to see a lot of topics with a prepended NSFW or whatever tag; it's too visually noisy.
I also agree with not showing the tags in the general forum, maybe only in the top post itself, on the bottom like the "edited by" text, with links on the tags, which would allow you to quickly find related threads.

Tagging system could also be used for the search engine, and perhaps a different "show new posts" link that orders by weighted "relevance" and not just post time etc... but for that to be effective, all old threads would have to be indexed and tagged >_<.
It'd definitelly be useful for the search, but i don't think you're right in terms of the old threads needing to be tagged. It's irreal to think it is possible to tag 11,068 threads. Thus, we have to work with what we have.
I'd say that given the growth of DC, in less than one year, we'll have at least double of those threads, and in 2, the untagged threads would represent like 1/4th of the threads.
Also, another important point is that this forum is all about technology, and in technology, things change fast, thus, older threads aren't as important.
Oh, and anderson made a great job with the search, it works perfectly without tags, thus, we'd still be able to find anything older :)

house: nope, nothing is decided, i was expressing my idea of how it could work, to see if it was approved and to invite others to present their ideas ;)

I believe mouser is right, we should now move this discussion in the tagging direction and on how to implement it, to get the max number of opinions on "how to do it" (and on "if to do it").

In my opinion, it should be kind of like gmail's labels, and one would be able to say "i don't want to see the threads with the following tags:" or something like that.

Notice that this would be a per-thread kind of tagging and not a per-post tagging, thus if someone were to say something "offensive" on a "clean" thread, it wouldn't be filtered. There, i think the only solution is self-moderation, where the user who posted should enclose the phrase/paragraph in spoiler tags, or use the censored smile, like renegade mentioned. I don't think this last part is an issue, since that has mostly happened until now and will probably continue to happen.
Like Carol, i will not enforce heavy moderation (notice that from that, i understand "delete/modify offensive posts to remove certain words" etc.), but i'd be up to pm people to ask them to enclose the stronger sentences in spoiler tags or something like that (notice that pm'ing is something anyone can do, not only a mod).

I think Carol's idea about having the threads tagged as POC not being visible for someone under 6/18/21/whatever also makes much sense.

Another idea would be to add the "censored" smilie to the "more" collection of smilies, so that it's easily accessible ;)

I belive the tagging system would solve most of the problem.

Almost every "offensive" thread got a comment from a mod, IIRC (i was about to make one in that youporn thread, but then i saw it was ken who had posted it and everything ken posts is sacred ;) ). Thus, i think the mods are delicate enough to recognize questionable material, and even if they are not, members can "report to moderator" that thread, and it can be marked as NSFW.

I do recognize what veign mentioned about having too many threads marked as NSFW might be a "go away" sign for newcomers, but i think it'd be worse if they opened one of those threads and were surprised. At least, with the tag, they can be aware of what to expect.

As for considering the tagging system a means of censorship, i don't think it should be faced like that. It's a mean of preventing the "surprises", not a way of preventing the thread to be displayed for the general public. (because i support the idea that the default setting for the "show NSFW content" should be ON).

PS:
(BTW: +3 for jgpaiva's use of "anal")
Oops, that was inadverted. Not being a native english speaker results in this kind of thing.. :)

I can definitelly see the problem.

While i rarelly find a post "offensive" (and when i do, i post a reply saying so), i can see what you mean about some threads being a bit inappropriate. I often don't reply to avoid getting more attention to the material.

Still, i don't think we should go with the "this thread will be deleted, it's against forum regulations" kind of approach.
I think this very thread is important to discuss what is appropriate and what isn't, so that frequent posters can be alert and avoid going that way.

Just to reiterate, i don't think there's need to be anal about this, because that also causes a bad environment, let's just have a talk about it.

One thing about this that i consider important is that threads/posts that are NSFW are marked as so, or have the spoiler tag.

OMG TheQwerty!

I am playing around with "Good Gridance.grid", and i'm finding it quite flexible, but a bit too complicated. An advice i can give you, is add one "maximize vertically" and one "maximize horizontally" areas, they'll spare you a lot of areas, and make it easier to use. On the other hand, it'd take 2 moves to move the window to the final position (which is perfectly acceptable if you usually use the keyboard to move stuff around).

About not being able to use grid 100 with the keyboard.. That's something i never thought someone would do.. LOL

I'm still using the Edge Grid, but as i see you guys make these increasingly complex grids, i think i probably should start thinking about making a better one for myself too ;)

I haven't figured it out yet  :-[  How do add windows to it?
You press windows key + shift + 1 to add the current window to desktop 1. Then, if you press windows key + 2, only windows on the desktop 2 are displayed, thus the window you added to desktop 1 is hidden.

Just chiming in to say TClock has replaced alfaclock on my tray :)
It's lighter, and the "click on tray = show calendar" works better!
1993
PIDs aren't necessarily delegated sequentially...
You're absolutelly right. And in my experiment, they probably were not sequential. I wonder where could we get more data on how this works. Probably it just isn't that "certain".
1994
Ok, i just confirmed that it is somehow related to the PID of the processes. I launched 3 test programs sequentially and they were closed by the same order i started them.
1995
I wonder which parameter the shutdown is "sorted" by... probably just the order processes appear in a ToolHelp32 snapshot, which is probably based on the PID?
If so, the program only needs to be started before the anoying processes to solve the problem.
1996
(ps you didnt add a menu item to kill now in tray, you changed it so it kills if you exit it from the tray -- make sure to change that).
I added another menu item that "simulates" the shutdown sequence having started, but kept the "exit" option that doesn't kill anything.

is it possible that the situation is more difficult than i thought, and that windows tries to shutdown programs SEQUENTIALLY, and so that if it tries to close the stuck program before it gets to yours, yours will never even be called?  :(
Yes, that apparently is the problem. If it didn't show any balloon, it means the executable wasn't running when killprocesses tried to kill it...

Would there be any way to have a process have its "shutdown priority" raised? I sure haven't seen such a thing anywhere :(

List in no particular order:

GridMove and Farr also got a lot of use, but are so fast to use that don't make it in terms of time count ;)

2. GridMove

Mouser: did any info appear in the tray? (like "killing the following processes: processA.exe processB.exe")?

I added the "kill now" option.

Oh, just something that i forgot to mention:

It kills all running instances of the listed processes. (if you have iexplore.exe on the list, it'll kill all open internet explorer windows)

Ok, shouldn't be hard to add.
Done :)
And i added an about box ;)
