it's only 5 bytes big?  seems like it might be a copy protection data file masquerading as a dll -- i.e. a program you installed might have created it to keep track of when the trial period started, etc.

dont have it on my pc.  perhaps you could zip and attach it and one of the more reverse-engineer skilled people on the forum could have a look at it?

Living Room / The Worm Within: Disgusting and You Can't Stop Reading
« Last post by mouser on April 28, 2009, 10:05 PM »
Accompanied by cute illustrations, and wonderfully written, a man describes his true life experience with a tape worm in his belly.  It's disgusting and utterly compelling.  What kind of person has the guts (pun intended) to write about something like this?  Not for the faint of heart but i couldn't stop reading.

The doctor, no longer chuckling, asked me to please sit down so he could tell me how to get rid of it. I came crashing down to sit on the chair, blathering, "How do I kill it? What's it take, doc? Where's the bullet? Give me a pill, do tricks! Make it go away!"

So let's turn the trade-off around: make sorting a little harder, but viewing easier.
i think i would agree with that approach as well.

great post.

as a coder i've struggled with how to handle many-column displays and avoid horizontal scrollbars, which i agree are evil and ugly.

one thing you haven't touched on however, which seriously complicates things, is the difficulty of presenting a table where all columns can be sorted, and presenting this in a usable elegant way when you have a multi-row setup, as shown in your alternatives.  notice how most of them have no obvious way to sort and show sort order.

It's been confirmed that mobysaurus needs an updated dll file (dc_lic.dll) on Vista x64 systems.  I take blame for this since i wrote the dll.. still not sure why x64 vista needs it but x64 windows xp doesn't..

Anyway, if you are using Vista x64 and mobysaurus and the program is exiting after startup, just download the new dll file and replace the existing file in the c:\Program Files\Mobysaurus directory:

Really nice elegant simple word game where you build words as a constant stream of letters goes by.  See the nice review by zxo at JayIsGames.com.
