Have you tried Zotero? If so, how does it measure up against Endnote?

I did try Zotero at one point and was very impressed. However, I have over 6000 articles and books entered into Endnote and didn't really putting Zotero through its paces. I have Firefox installed on my other machine and will take another look - if it will import Endnote indexes and integrate with Word, I may be a convert. Endnote keeps adding functionality, but the yearly upgrade at $80 to get the added functionality is steep.

I like the poem idea for my hubby, but most of my poems start with "There once was a man from Nantuckett...."   :P

Who kept all of his change in a bucket?

Back from dinner... yes! It's been corrected. When I left my first post in this thread was time stamped 05:23:03 PM but now it reads (correct for the time that I posted it): 04:23:03 PM

Thanks mouser and Gothic  :-*

Here Spreadsheet Assistant is:

You can see the combined result in the background... bit of a rush job on my part - off to dinner!

Sorry, superboyac. The addin is Spreadsheet Assistant  :-[ Works a treat, too, but it's pricey.

Crumb! The tool has been changed (and/or so has Excel 2007) - I used to use this feature a lot to combine different sheets but the option to have the columns stacked or added to the side has been removed and now you just get a sheet with the sheets added to the right... I'll investigate further as I know I've done this.

ASAP utilities will allow you to do this... and it's FREE! Free is good...

The only Egg-Nog recipe that you need.  Just don't be a whimp and cook it to make it custard nog.

Looks nice, thanks for the link  Looks like I picked the wrong season to try to lose weight!

priced things out of the hands of students

That's an understatement... About the only ray of light WRT their pricing scheme is that many (but certainly not all) universities have deals with Thomson enabling the univ to provide very cheap or even free licences for Endnote to their students. Sadly, my university was not one of them and I bought my own licence.

Anyway, great newsletter, ehtyar  Case in point: I never would have heard about the silly Endnote litigation if I hadn't clicked on the link to your roundup  :o

Here on the (very) wet coast of Canada, we came out of Daylight Savings time at 2 am on November 2... Up to that point, all postings on the DC forum were sycned to the time where I am. However, since that time, I'm an hour behind  :( But then, I've always been a bit backward..

Licenced vista users should just install windows xp.  I just did that this weekend on my wife`s laptop and her laptop runs twice as fast and I do not need to spend another 100 bux to run it smoothly.

how about a "lousy economy" discount?

Works for me!

is OS X still $129?

Not even... $109 at Amazon, which is the first place I looked. Likely available cheaper if you go looking.

EDIT: Dang! And the 5 user family pack is only $149!

Oh yeah... now you're talking, Zaine! I also remember the early days of photocopiers - all that blurry purple ink.
1890
Heh, heh - I've been thinking about this of late... It's a thorny issue, though: do they include plebs like me that got my copy from the OEM of my notebook? Smarter to offer free upgrades to people such as yourself who sprung for a boxed version and offer people such as myself a very cheap upgrade to Windows 7 - $50 or so. They'd actually make money off the upgrade. Point being, I can't see paying for fullprice for an upgrade to Windows 7 so soon after buying my notebook (August 2008). Now... if they'd get smart and take a page from Apple's pricing scheme, I'd be delerious ($149 or so for the OSX DVDs, period and $179-199 for a family pack, which covers a bunch - 3,4,5, 8? - of computers in the same household). Do away with having 47 versions of the OS and crippling versions further down the scale.
1891
Heh, heh - back on topic  :-[ Dopus will let you do this, Curt! It's kind of a pricey solution, though, isn't it?!

I'm pretty sure that Xyplorer, Xplorer2, and others will do this as well:

I simply cannot understand why I not am offered to rename the doublet file names, by hand or automatically.
1892
My only beef with Teracopy (which is at beta 4, BTW) is that it doesn't automatically recognise source and target folders when using TC or DOpus (both of which it includes instructions for integrating with). If I have the source and target folders open in separate panes, I'd like to be able to configure Teracopy operations without having to select folders from its interface...
1893
Hmmm... I searched the forum for Mouser and desktop (I think... might have been "virtual desktop"0 and got 8 pages of hits. Those two were the only two that looked promising!
1894
Did someone test if the 30% discount code (DONATIONCODER) still is valid?

AFAICT, there's no option to allow the entry of a coupon code. I clicked the upgrade link and went through the process and at no point was such a field available, so even if it is still active, I don't think it's available for upgrades.
1895
I'd be OK with an upgrade price, but am not too pleased about yearly subscription fees...  :(
1896
If you really want to find out if it's a winner... http://www.google.com/search

Heh, heh... my mistake was typing it "take control" when I googled it  ;D
1897
Crap! Take Control has lost control - looks like it's gone, gone, gone... I'm trying to find an updated link to it via Google but so far, no luck  :(

Update:

Here's a functioning link to the beta from 2005.

and a link to a description of the renamed application called Get Control form 2006. Unfortunately, the download link doesn't work... but this one does (choose the second download link - server 2).

Here are some mouser posts on the subject:

Virtuawin
TakeControl - this one looks like a contender, to me!
