mouser,

So, do you consider that most of the money donated to the site that's 'in circulation' between members is, in reality, already donated to the site?

Let me put that another way, if everyone holding Donation Credits allocated those to the site during the drive would that be nothing more than an empty gesture? Last time around, in order to move the thermometer we had to put in 'new' money.

That makes me wonder if there's any benefit to offering a small incentive to new donors who are the 'first past the post' at certain steps on the scale; a full license key perhaps. Would that be enough to encourage people who've never donated to 'have a go'?

I can't read music (that may be a blessing)

Not if you insist on continuing with that euphonium!

mouser,

I guess it's a nice tribute to those who do so much to keep DC interesting and informative.
I'd also bet that a large percentage of the users' 50% finds its way into the site fund.

BTW, any idea what percentage of DCredit recipients ever cash them in?

Ok, I'd like to gather the DC orchestra:

That's a sharp looking piece, but you'd need a good staff behind the bar!

There's certainly consolation to be found in improved hardware but it's annoying to be forced into it.

You might find some local volunteer group that would be pleased to have it.

Following the tenor of this discussion I'd like to point out another phenomenon, which is that the individual bursts into song. This is known as the Placebo Domingo Effect.

Thanks for posting. It's always good to know of something that works well under 7, for those of us who have yet to commit to it.

Don't you hate it when perfectly good hardware must be sacrificed on the altar of obsolete drivers?

I emailed support multiple times and was ignored.
-cthorpe

I had a reply from them quickly — same day, but I had the advantage of a license code with which to gain their attention.

They apologized for the inconvenience and stated that they are processing a refund.
Seems to me it would make more business sense to tweak their installer, especially since "You are not the first to bring this up." <shrug>

PM me the screenshots if possible.

Don't think you can attach to PM's.  If you've found a way I'd love to hear of it.

Perhaps I'm misinterpreting the help.

It's easy enough to misinterpret at times, at least for one of my limited intelligence.

Have you tried posting a question into the DOPUS forums?

Can you do anything with collections?
Spoiler
There is an option in Preferences - Miscellaneous - Windows Integration that lets you add a File Collections icon to the Desktop. If this is enabled an icon appears on the Desktop that lets you quickly open a Lister showing the File Collections root. Also when this is enabled File Collections will appear under the Desktop in the Folder Tree rather than in its own branch.
I wonder if you can dump one or more collections into a hide/show toolbar? Or hot-key to collection(s) ?

I don't use W7 so I'm unsure of what you can and can't do with its desktop.

General Software Discussion / onOne software
« Last post by cranioscopical on February 17, 2011, 07:47 AM »
I had never anticipated using this area for complaints but…

I recently bought "Perfect Photo Suite 5.5.1" from onOne software. In the past I've used their plugins for Photoshop and have been reasonably pleased with them. The suite was offered at a promotional price of $250 (half of the usual amount).

When installing the software it correctly identified my CS5 and put the plugins under Photoshop. I was astonished to find, however, that it insists on dumping >3GB of support files onto C: (in addition to the usual application data stuff). There is no option to alter this. I suppose I could try some registry hijinks, but why should I?

I contacted onOne support who very politely said, to paraphrase, "Yes, you're not the first to complain, sorry you don't like it we apologize." I happen not to allow application software on my boot drive, so that response is not good enough for me. At this price point, with previous complaints, I'd expect some action other than "Oh dear, sorry." How hard can it be to create a sensible installer?

We'll see what happens next as I've asked for a refund.

I think many of us have had one of these…

While sitting in a board room, trying to explain something really quite simple to a particularly dense VP, he asked me "Can I ask a stupid question?"

I guess it's the only kind he had to offer.
