It's clear that creating the document xml from scratch is not something for the faint hearted.

My problem is that it's like the chicken and the egg -- i'm not really prepared to invest a lot of time creating an easy-to-use online drag and drop tree creator if there isn't much interest in the too, and right now that's the case.  Of course that could partially be because it's so hard for anyone to figure out how to create trees :)

Now that you can export from TFLM, i'm hoping that people can use TFLM to get started creating xml for trees.

Maybe if i could find a company that wanted to fun some further development of the tools for commercial use, other possibilities could be explored.

Until then let's just see what people can come up with using the current interface.  Maybe someone can make a screencast or walkthrough..

Yeah, im afraid there is no nice gui editor for the web version -- you have to provide the xml data in that textarea box.
For tips on the syntax, click the help link on bottom left of that text area.

You can also now design trees in the desktop "The Form Letter Machine" tool and export xml from that which is directly usable in the online version.

So, you can always use the desktop version to create trees and use the export function to create the xml for you.

Latest update has an important feature:
v1.10.01 - November 9, 2009
  • Added ability to export trees in XML form (great for backing up, transferring to another tool, and most importantly, using with the new online tfdocs.com Tree Form Machine Online).

this can be done already.  just use a shortcut that runs the farr executable and specifies the commandline option: -standalone

How do you import your TFLM files?

I have finished adding an XML export function to the desktop TFLM; the exported xml files can be pasted as-is right into tfdocs.com online.  This has the added benefit of providing a safe format for exporting your TFLM trees should you want to work with the content in another program.  Importing is not yet available.

The latest version of TFLM which supports xml exporting is now available for download: https://www.donation...erMachine/index.html

Ok here you go, the CHS screenshot configuration for the preset:
Screenshot - 11_9_2009 , 2_12_55 AM.png

Even easier, just unzip this preset.format file in your C:\Program Files (x86)\Clipboard Help+Spell\PresetFormats\ directory, restart CHS, and you should now have it available without having to create and save it yourself:
* MultiSpaceToSingle.preset.zip (0.66 kB - downloaded 310 times.)

Living Room / Hidden Netflix Marathon Gems to Watch Online
« Last post by mouser on November 09, 2009, 12:51 AM »
I've always been a huge fan of movie or show marathons, which go on for tens of hours.. I find them extremely calming and comforting, the fact that they just go on an on.. Often i only pay attention to bits and pieces as i'm working -- i often like to have something on in the background while i work.

Anyway, i've discovered a few of these series that you can watch online if you are a member of netflix, and i thought i'd share them, and ask for other suggestions of related shows.  These are all available to watch online:

Wire in the Blood
wireinblood.jpg

Damn good serial killer mysteries, if that's your fancy.
"In the first season of the BBC series, based on the novels of writer Val McDermid, psychologist Tony Hill (Robson Green) uses his ability to get into the mind of a criminal to help police detective Carol Jordan (Hermione Norris) solve cases. This season involves a series of brutal murders, a copycat strangulation and a double murder linked to a string of hate crimes."
TOTAL LENGTH: About 27 hours.  There are 6 seasons online with 3 episodes each season, and 1.5 hours per episode.

House of Cards Trilogy
housecards.jpg

Great british political suspense, from 1990.
"Set in Britain's Houses of Parliament, this political satire follows the career of a ruthless MP (Ian Richardson) whose election campaign has been plagued by a number of mysterious deaths. The politician's scheming knows no bounds, and he manages to ensnare a member of the royal family in his quest for power. This series was controversial in Britain for its close depiction of Prince Charles's actual life. "
TOTAL LENGTH: About 10 hours

Lost
lost.jpg

Not really a hidden gem since everyone knows about this show; and frankly i didn't like it very much, but it is a wonderfully long distraction.
"Stranded on a tropical island after their plane crashes 1,000 miles off course, a group of castaways must learn to survive in their new home, avoid the gigantic something crashing through the trees and determine whether they're really alone. Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Terry O'Quinn, Dominic Monaghan and Naveen Andrews head the diverse ensemble cast in this landmark series, which won an Emmy for Best Drama."
TOTAL LENGTH: About 60 hours.

What other long marathon gems have you found on Netflix online?

you can use a clipboard tool like my Clipboard Help+Spell and define a text formatting preset to do this; then just select your text and hit a hotkey and run the text formatter on it to do what you want.

try clearing your launch history list, see if that makes a difference.

it's not a matter of not being able to make banners manually, as much as it is trading off the time required to use a banner making program vs. the time required to create one manually.

This is something a little bit outside the scope of what FARR does, and there is no plugin to do it.  You can use FARR to find the files you want to rename and then drag and drop them from within FARR to a proper free renaming tool (see thread here).  Personally i think this makes more sense than trying to build yet another renamer tool.

can you elaborate a little bit on how you need FARR to work vs. how it actually works now?  It's not clear to me what it does now that is not what you want.

Since this was made in Drupal, can I know which modules you used?

absolutely -- in fact let me put together a longer write up of all the modules, javascript libraries, etc. that i used in the entire site.  credit where credit is due:
