Developer's Corner / Re: Buy & Sell Source Code

So if you're an 'indy,' and it's something you need to maintain control over, then don't release your source code. Period.

Too true

Yeah I kind of agree. Android is already beating Apples market share, they should have tried switching platform. Though if they didn't write portable code, that could be difficult.

The way I use the forums might be a bit odd. I pretty much only use the Unread Posts link (my bookmark is straight to that link!) so I can see what's changed since I last checked. I don't go looking into specific sections. In fact, I hardly pay attention to what section anything is in except for when I'm creating my own posts.

If that's odd then I'm odd too, cause that's exactly how I browse the forum. Sorry for the OT :)

Ummm... You know that there's a reason why retail pays minimum wage? :D :P

Maybe it's more like the low pay means only idiots do the job.

It is unrealistic to believe all of us will agree on every subject.

How can I still talk with you with you people if you condone even appluad killing a person?

I would think that the vast vast majority of people on this planet can envisage a situation where the murdering of another human being is perfectly justifiable.

Obviously the specifics of individual situations can be debated for an eternity, and this particular one perhaps even for longer. So I can very much understand you feeling that todays actions was uncalled for, though this forum with it's friendly and mostly neutral nature would not be the place to have that debate.

But if you truly have issue with the concept of someones murder ever being justified you need to step back and realise that is at odds with most of the world.

Osama's DNA was tested ? against whom ? as if they had previous sample to verify ? or their blood relatives to match with ?

It's been long know who his entire family are, that was never a secret, in fact it couldn't have been more public.

They've not managed to make C# in any way useful for MS Office yet... Grrr... While C++ may be great in many aspects, it's still a beast.

Whereas for me, as long they don't support C++, or at least C++/CLI, on Windows Mobile I won't develop for it. C++ is just soooooooooo lovely to code in.

Ehm OK, people don't have a problem providing their whole biography to Sony, but they are in panic when hackers get it too?

Ha, yeah I agree totally. Heck, most people wouldn't care if sony were (are?) selling their info to 3rd parties.

I'm not surprised you felt the need to bite your tongue after reading that one Renegade.

The man does make an excellent case - "Some experts knew about this beforehand, also the media has been a bit emotive in it's reporting. These two things prove Apple did nothing wrong"

Flawless logic indeed.

As everyone knows though, it's all just plain nonsense. I for one don't blame the companies, the patents should never have benn awarded in the first place. Look at this latest victory for a patent owner - Google Linux servers hit with $5m patent infringement verdict.

The things that are quoted as infringing upon patents existed long before the original patents were filed. Companies should be sued/fined for filing such malicious patents.

The s*** might really be hitting the fanboi's for Apple on this one - Senator questions Apple over iPhone tracking.

That's as outrageous as it is typical. Some scary, privacy related stuff is going down these days.

It's a pint of beer ;)

(Actually, in most Irish pubs it wouldn't even get you a pint :( )

Only companies should take on someone like Sony. No point an individual risking any sort of financial security for the rest of their lives just to fight an unfair fight anyway.

Seems the case was settled (dropped?) last week.

Sony has agreed to drop a lawsuit against a hacker who published the secret key used to jailbreak the PlayStation 3, in exchange for promises he will drop all future attempts to unlock the game console.

Also the guy donated on the money he himself was donated to help fight against Sony, to the EFF.

Hotz, who sought private donations to pay the legal expenses of fighting Sony's suit, promised to give the money away if there were any remaining funds once the litigation ended.

Not entirely related to Eula's, but I've always love this line from many OS licenses

This software is provided by the copyright holders and contributors "as is" and any express or implied warranties, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are disclaimed

When included in a Eula, the user is actually accepting that the program might not be fit for use nor do what it claims to do. From a legal point it makes sense, but imagine if the websites were up front- "This program does X, but I don't claim it's suitable to do X!"

Yeah it's pretty subtle. At first I was sure individual sites were offering it, through JavaScript or something.
