I just came from that site with over 137,000 scripts on over 5,000 pages.
I'll need a clue as to how we do business there.

I edit the html page in Notepad2. Notepad2 has a kicker where you can set it to open in place of Notepad.
Editing the source I can cut all that junk out that doesn't tell me anything.
I not very proud of FireFox. I loaded it awhile back because of a suggestion from someone here. It has the "No script" thingy which I hoped would help me with HTG lazyload problem but no joy! No script, no images, no good.
I'm not sure I follow what you want to do though??

I'm not sure where to put this nor who might be interested but Amazon still has some old DOS manuals.

I have the original manual for MS-DOS 5 and it contains lots of answers!
It's about an inch thick with 668 pages. An invaluable  treasure for commandline-junkies.

I have another, about the same size, The Waite Group's, Tricks of the MS-DOS Masters. I didn't check Amazon for this one but the prices for the Microsoft manuals make them affordable, and if you play on the command line, desirable.

I play games with files that a sane individual would never think of.
iyf will list files by file type.....
With a list of 40 html files and their "include" folder in All Downloads........
run iyf.......
list .js files.... delete .js files ....
list .css files..........delete .css files..
I can remove everything except the images which I will use when I edit the html files and the result is a tutorial or article looking almost the same as it did when it's author finished it.
126kb down to 6kb.......... I like small!

Interested because I can't find one damn editor on Linux that will do what Notepad++ or TextPad will do.  They each do bits and pieces of what I need, and the rest can be accomplished with sed and whatnot, but dammit, I just want one text editor that is more than a notepad, and less than an IDE.  I'd heard that Sublime Text can do everything I need, but the price of admission is a bit steep for me.  Diamond won't compile for me, so trying the binary...

My needs for an editor, I'm sure, vary greatly from yours, but I have tried most of the ones mentioned.
I used Notepad++ for awhile but dropped it for Notepad2. Customize the menu bar (I like the X for delete at the very end)
Notepad handles html, highlights, etc., but it sure would be nice to highlight javascript and delete it ALL!

I have found through experience that deleting dupes is a hazardous sport.
To reduce the risk of deleting the wrong files I use IYF, Index your Files, which lists dupes one above the other. I start the app and let it grind away indexing everything and then scroll through the list.
The indexer shows where the files are and you can delete, move, etc., right from there.
I haven't removed the wrong file since I found iyf.
Everything works the same way I think but I haven't used that in a long time. Everything is preferred in some circles to iyf, but I've iyf for years.

I guess if you are frenetically tweaking it can save navigating to the links.  Windows likes to hide them with every flavor change it seems.  It is good if you can remember the hotkeys.  Like Winkey Pause still brings up a window with System Protection on it, same as Vista/W7.

I just checked the properties page for the shortcut in that zip file with the All tasks list.
The clsid number is shown there and identical to the number in Godmode. Same place, 252 shortcuts to applets you might look for to change a HDD, partition, change network settings, resolution......... ad infinitum.
and that Win 7 shortcut works in Win8.1.1.
No typing, no links........... click on Godmode or that All Tasks List and you are presented with 252 applets to pick from, all nicely grouped by topic.
It's a no brainer for me....... YMMV!

I can't find a screen shot of what the shortcut brings up.  In any case it will just be links maybe in muliple columns instead of one.  I'm sure in the registry it's al clsid stuff.

This just seems redundant to me, unless it gives you access to things not normally accessible even through administrative interfaces.

winkey+r, type compmgmt.msc

I personally like msconfig and compmgmt, but you can access just about any builtin utility the system has through the run command.

I think you get more and all in one list.
Run takes several clicks to load and and the others require typing.
GodMode is on the desktop with one click to anything you want.
Godmode takes no space, no effort, no typing, it's free, so easy to implement and my question is "why not???"
You might find it a very handy tool. I'll take all of those that I can get.

Afaik it's the same.  The tutorial title says All Tasks (God Mode.)  I haven't tried the one you posted.  I have seen a God Mode with a rectangular window with multiple columns.  Is that how yours looks?

I checked that page at Win7 Tutorials and downloaded the reg page and the zip file for All Tasks.
Most interesting developments.....
the numbers in the reg file aren't the same as the number (CLSID) in Ed Botts Godmode yet they purport to go to the same place.
The zip file contains a shortcut to the same list of files as Godmode...
All Tasks and  Godmode seem to be the same place. One is a shortcut and the other the CLSID thingy.
Godmode originally, I think?, applied to Win7.
I'm running it on Win732, Win7 64, and Win8.1.1........... works great.. an indispensable tool!
If I had to make a WAG, I'd have to say that all roads lead to Rome. If you want the access to those applets any will get it for you.
I've got more checking to do and comparisons to make but take one, any one, they go to the same place???

Thanks, that MSDN page answered the question about breaking the code....

"There are two ways to define file system folders as junction points. The simplest approach is to create a folder in the appropriate location and append a period to the folder's name, followed by the string form of the CLSID of your extension. Only the folder name will be visible in Windows Explorer. The following example creates a junction point with a display name of MyFolder."

And Brandon clears up the mystery?? Is he the same Brandon that was part of Lockergnome 7 or 8 years ago? He has come a long ways! Brandon thought the idea was "silly".

I agree with Ed and hope the shortcuts keep coming. I'm a two-finger typist so typing something into search to get to the control panel or anywhere else seems to be the long way home. I'm agin it!

I really can't remember when I first started using it. I think Ed Bott was the original author but I'm not sure of that either.
I just dropped that number into Find in the registry. It's simply the addy for the control panel. I'd try some of the other numbers in the registry but how do you know what to look for??

Godmode post has 143 reads and yet nobody has reported installing or using it.

The access provided by Godmode is almost equal to the start menu. Indispensable if you use "Add/Remove, Network or Disk Management, etc..

I use it constantly and would hate to be without it.

I don't generate much that contributes to society or the world economy, that's worth saving??
I use Macrium Reflect once in awhile and if a crash occurs between images, meh, no big deal!
I know..... bad attitude, but I think I've only ever had to reinstall from an image once and that was because I was doing something stupid and fully expected to crash and burn.
If you're gainfully employed or contributing to mankind I fully understand your concern but I've never heard of Drobo, and really can't offer any sage advice for other solutions.

I'm afraid that's the prevailing attitude in some circles! There's no such thing as too many hard drives nor too much beer.
We all have our priorities.
We invited the local golf pro to the company picnic one year. The invitation said, it's potluck, bring something that you would ordinarily take to a picnic.
He shows up at the picnic with a quart of Old Bushmill's, and when the young lady manning the table where incomers were placing their contribution to the feast remarked "the invitation said "something you usually take to a picnic" his retort was "Old Bushmill's is the ONLY thing I take to a picnic!
We all have our priorities, can't fault us for that.

We can't wait for new toys and the sad part.....
we're probably throwing away more store space than we're using!
Look at the numbers of drives returned to manufacturers that are perfectly good. Bad format? whatever, and they go back.

When DBAN hit the street several years ago and appraised of the rate of returns on good drives, I started a little experiment.
I loaded DBAN on an old test machine and scrambled around here rounding up "pulled" drives. I found 21 drives, not including a couple of old MFM drives which I didn't clean, ratholed under the bench, in the bookshelf, out in the garage, etc., and "wiped" all 21. Of that 21, 19 were still serviceable. I posted my results and other guys had experienced the same results. I'm sweating a drive being almost full and I've got stacks of storage space.!

Technology bites again though, because the older drives are all IDE and motherboards with IDE headers are scarce.
Woe is me...... nobody loves me.... and my hands are cold.........
will my troubles never end?

At last.....
Wait up people! Don't jump and order an 8tb drive as soon as Newegg lists it on the front page.
I read someplace on the internet that (and if it's on the internet it must be true) most of our current machines using BIOS and MBR will not boot to a drive over 2tb.

Going to have to get familiar with GPT and UEFI on 64 bit machines before you put your memnoirs on a drive large enough to hold them.
