If that doesn't work, navigate to the game's install folder and look for an "uninstall.exe" (or similar).[/li]
[li]If that doesn't work, do a Google search for: "uninstalling <game name here>"

Also search <game name> (removal tool | cleanup tool)

in case it is something that tries to avoid being uninstalled.

you serious about the copper band?  I am a little shocked.

If this is a pun I got a charge out of it.  Don't let anyone give you any static for posting.  I am sure Mouser will insulate you from any negative reaction in spite of his native reluctance to do so in the ordinary case due to your magnetic personality.

I can understand that Irfanview may have just the right feature set for some people's needs, while XnView may be missing some key thing. I still don't entirely understand using both, but admittedly I do have more than one image viewer (Faststone and XnView) installed, so who am I kidding.

Heh heh.  For me trying new programs often prods me to learn how to use the ones I have.  It helps me to have more than one approach to the same task.  Plus it is tough to resist trying free software in glitzy packaging.  Uninstalling these can waste some time for sure. though.:)

@Curt keep in mind this is Windows 10.0 or the equivalent of "pre service pack" in previous Windows releases.  The release for free gets many people who would ordinarily wait for SP1 to be integrated to jump the gun.  I think it is going to get "interestinger" as it goes along.  :)

I could use a nice lightweight (Windows) Laptop that doesn't cut my bank account to ribbons.

Depending on how literally you meant 'lightweight', Acer is coming out with the Cloudbook at USD169, to compete with the HP Stream series, which seem to be going for around USD230.

Thanks for the tip.  I'll take a look.  :)

I thought to take a look at that HP Stream for my wife and daughter to share.  And quickly looked away.  In use, it's very laggy, even doing basic things.  That was with windows 8, but it was *bad*.  It was masked because of the SSD, but it was still nothing that I'd put up with.  So unless performance is not a consideration *at all*, I'd recommend a steer clear of the HP Stream.

Thanks for the heads up.

Ok, thank you.  The bad news for me is the lighter the more expensive.

Irfanview is very fast and can edit images just as MS Paint can, besides having a very similar feature-set when compared with XnView. It is also portable...you can copy the irfanview folder you installed in one computer to another computer and IrfanView will work without problems.

With so much similar features between these two viewers/editors, it doesn't matter that much what you prefer. For me, IrfanView is the "devil I know" as I have been using it for over 15 years.

I have used Irfanview for a long time also.  But I see no need to delete it just because I added XnView.  If I was squeezing everything into an SSD that may be another matter.  But even they are supposed to explode with big time storage at commodity prices very soon.

I installed some games under the tablet mode in win8
I now want to uninstall them, but I can't find them in Add/Remove Programs!!!

IIRC you can right-click on a tile in Metro-mode and uninstall then
(I'm on Windows 7 atm)

I always forget about that App/Tile stuff.  :)  The only one I use is Weather.  :)

You could try Revo Uninstaller Free
http://www.revounins...r_free_download.html

It has a search mode where you drag the program's window onto it or something like that.  I used Revo a  couple of times and it seemed to work well.

Before doing anything that cleans the Registry you may want to go to tweaking.com and get the Regbackup tool.  It is free and works very well.  It may take a minute or so to save the Registry Hives.  But it makes a system snapshot to get them all.. not just the ones not is use.

I'm not bleeding yet, so I think I'm ok.  Of course, that's on my laptop, not on my primary computer...

Perhaps you can point me in the right direction. I could use a nice lightweight (Windows) Laptop that doesn't cut my bank account to ribbons.  Then I could use the Toshiba as a guinea pig machine.  I'm taking a computer repair class and eventually I will succumb to the temptation of upgrading ram or some other excuse to pry the box open and screw things in, or up, or something.  :)

Posting from Edge in Windows 10.  No problems upgrading from the upgrade wizard.

I hope posting from the edge is more fun than living on the edge.

That depends entirely on what you're living on the edge of.. ;)

A sharp observer may say a slice of life could be either the pith or the rind.  In a very short time the rind gets to be a grind, I find.  :)

At first I was annoyed that I could not paste an image in XnView.  That is what I use Irfanview for most often.  Then I found it is Import from Clipboard instead.  Works fine.

As I learn to use Paint.NET more I think I will depend on Irfanview much less.  Plus once you have to mess with Layers you might as well go with a bull blown paint type application.

« Last post by MilesAhead on July 30, 2015, 12:33 PM »
Once I started buying HP tower Media Center PCs I had a surplus of the mice with the rubber ball.  My mouse had the paint removed from the left button from me clicking it over the years.  I could see inside since it was clear plastic under the paint.  But anyway, when I got a laptop and had no desktop machines I bought a mini-usb keyboard and a usb optical mouse.  To my surprise I got a pretty good one from Walmart online for $5 or $6.  I have to carry everything around so that lets out wireless mice.  Batteries are heavy.  But this standard usb wheel optical mouse is easy to use.

I got a cheapie mousepad, less than $2.  Unlike the ones for the old mechanical mice this has very little friction on the surface.  The mouse glides around easily.  For less than $10 you could try them out.  If there is a Walmart nearby you could order online and pick up in the store for free.  There tends to be more stuff to choose from online than if you just go to the brick and mortar Walmart.

I have a Laptop with Windows 8.0.  I use an optical mouse.  At times when it is not convenient to set up the mouse I find that any extensive use of the touch pad hurts my forearm from holding it semi-hovered over the touch pad.  If you do go that way try to support your arm somehow as the muscles in the forearm can start cramping quickly.

The other idea, if feasible, put the mouse on the other side of the desktop and switch the buttons.  You may be right handed but left handed people adapt to a lot of things designed for the right handed.  In a short time you may find the awkwardness diminishes and it should be a good way to rest your right hand.

Hmmm, you would think a single engine drone would be the perfect target for a laser weapon.  Either punch a whole through the engine cylinder or blast the prop off.  Targeting should be a breeze.  Except on cloudy days perhaps.

What happens when you type AppData in?  You should still have a data folder unless you are Guest.

I only get the Windows.old's AppData.

But now I have found my AppData; it was just hidden - and at first I couldn't figure out where to 'unhide' it (because I come from Win 7, I am not used to "Ribbon"). Now I have it visible but 'dimmed'. I  still need to be the boss of my computer.

I hate a ribbon.  To me having one thing on a menu bar that pops up the rest of the menus is about as useful as a browser with only BookMarks Toolbar folder on the bookmarks toolbar.  When you click it you have to navigate down.  It's really lame.  Instead of the ribbon they should have a "context menu" but with a horizontal menu that pops up above the mouse.  That way if you have to do an extra click at least you save the space by avoiding a toolbar just to have one ribbon button.

It really is a weird feeling being unable to find AppData

Use either of these:
go to: C:\Users\[username]\AppData

or from anywhere just put %AppData% in the address bar, hit enter and you're there.

I typically use the first one for remote machines, and the second one locally.

Or if the percent signs are a pita Winkey r then enter shell:appdata

Did you try running the script As Administrator?  Windows 7 is more finicky about permissions and seeing other programs running than XP, and Windows 8 is more finicky than Windows 7.  I find many of my scripts that get the program that owns the current window and similar, have to run as administrator.

It does exist and it's called XnView, the world's greatest (free) image viewer and converter. :D
http://www.xnview.com

Once installed just go to Tools -> Batch Processing (Ctrl - U), add your folder of images on the first tab, then go to the Transformations tab, under Image double-click Add Text, then on the right where you see Parameters, click the button with two arrows >> and select Filename (or whatever other info you choose). You can then specify text color and background color, font, and positioning. You will probably want to experiment with one or a couple images to find the ideal combo, then once you do you can apply it to all of them.

XnView is great. :D

- Oshyan

I used XnView in the past.  I had no idea it could do this kind of stuff.... downloading.  :)
