what worries me most is the trouble I have trying to read smart-phone displays out of doors. This is especially true on sunny days,

Then you'll have to leave the rural areas and go into the modern world, find a shop that actually has one and test the guinea pig in the sun. You'd better pick a nice/bright day for this expedition ofc 8)

No i don't care about tasks.  What made the iphone integration perfect?  Could you explain the differences between iphone and android?
Comparing iPhone to early Android's (pre-4.0) then iPhone Just Works. Now, modern Android's also Just Work.

if that's the case, I'll be very happy with the HTC One.  Now...should I switch windows phone for blackberry?
Not a chance, BB is just making Android's with a twist, trying to keep their head above the water.

If you're not relying on Outlook Tasks to be synced, then by all means get a phone with Android 4.1 or newer on it, my appointments and e-mail sync just fine with our Exchange (2007/2010) server.
Android's standard e-mail app doesn't sync Tasks (AFAIK), but commercial offerings seem to do, but I don't want to pay for that :)

BTW: I'm on a Sony Xperia S, with Andoid 4.1.2, and am very happy with it, except for the battery life that's 'sub-optimal', but not really bad.
Also have an iPhone 4, that has excellent battery-life and perfect Exchange integration (don't know about the Tasks thing though, I don't use it  ), but that one is supplied by my employer; I had an Android phone before I got the iPhone, and want to keep both (though I actually prefer Android).

Hm, the download doesn't seem to work from here (Both FF and Chrome give a GoogleDrive 'not found error')

Did you, by any chance, install LBC by unpacking the portable zipfile into the Program Files directory?

Decided not to go with a pseudonym.
The on-line version currently still has the pseudonym, I guess ;)

Shouldn't generic but very capable tools like Nagios be able to track changing states like memory or I/O usage and log/alert about it?

1) can you make it silent please? without popping info about chars etc
That's actually a setting, inherited from DragKing...:
Screenshot - 17-06-2013 , 22_41_42.png

2) is it possible to make it NOT to alter the buffer content when after selection of text, we click ctrl_c or context menu Copy,
Hmm, too much hassle to try and put that in, sorry, someone else could maybe try to add that.
You are trying to have 1 hotkey (Ctrl-C) for 2 clipboards. That's not ever going to work right, IMHO.

or in general normal clipboard contents change to the selected text: so to have totally independent two clipboards
That's what it currently is supposed to be.

3) have the switchable option to paste with right click (and evoke context menu with ctrl held down and right click)
That exceeds my AHK knowledge, and the amount of time I can put into it, so another: Sorry, won't do.

Much of what you ask can already be achieved, in maybe a little different way, by many of the Clipboard extenders/managers available.

I've taken DragKing 1.3 source, renamed it to DragKing2 1.0, modified it to preserve the clipboard contents and save the selection in a buffer. The hotkey (default: Middle-button) then pastes from that buffer. I disabled the Ctrl-C hotkey for copying, as it should not interfere with normal clipboard operations.

Note:
- All credits should go to Skrommel
- Source only
- I didn't include any icons as Skrommel has in the compiled exe
- Use at your own risk

Download attached.

Updated ScriptLineCounter to version 1.7.1.0

What's new/changed:
  • Added: The possibility to have .doc/.docx files processed like csv (file-format 5) if the content is a table with proper headings (use -cn and -ct command-line options to set the used headers)
  • Added: Command-line (-ci <lines>) and ini (skiplines) and gui option to ignore the first n lines of a file
  • Added: Command-line (-cm <max>) and ini (maxcharacternameparts) and gui option to specify the number of words a character-name can consist of. Default is 4
  • Changed: When using debug-level 3 or 4 (-3 / -4 command-line options) the files read are saved as text with the same name appended with .txt.tmp extension, useful for inspecting how SLC 'sees' the file

I think the Skrommel utility DragKing does most of that already, source is available, so you can adjust as desired :)

Ath and F0dder.  "I found benchmarks online some time ago".  Google is your friend
Notice I edited the last comment
This still means nothing. No numbers, no comparison. Just give a link to the actual testing-tool you used and the configuration that was tested.

I have certain temporal problems with this software : notepad++
Please elaborate on the problems you have with Notepad++, as I've been using it as my main editor for anything not supported by a dedicated IDE, and see no problems with it at all.

Advise: Just upgrade to the latest available version. It's fine.

However, file handling was faster.
Can you elaborate on your benchmark method? And the speed-improvement (percentage) you found?

General Software Discussion / Re: Windows Updates
« Last post by Ath on June 02, 2013, 04:37 AM »
If you have ever needed to uninstall a windows update, then don't delete the last month of updates, so you can still revert them if needed. In all other cases just remove all of it. In the early days of windows updates the updates where sometimes flawed, so an uninstall was needed quite regularly, but I havent needed to uninstall any updates (from XP to W7) for many years. Unfortunately since Vista, the stored updates/uninstallers can't be (safely) deleted, but they do seem to use less diskspace.

They stay there so you can uninstall them (yeah, right ), or until you delete them manually. My first line of defense in recovering harddisk space on a Windows XP system 8)

I didn't realize that I need to press "Alt PrintScreen" not only "PrintScreen".
You can customize that on the SSC Preferences page called "HotKeys and Shortcuts"
