DJ Schmolli - Rock of Ages (Rock mashup - turn the volume up)

ReUnited - Sun Is Shining (only a slideshow but a really good rendition of the Bob Marley song)

Yes, you can do that.

I have Steam (~360GB of games) currently installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam, which is on a 111GB partition as far as the OS is concerned.

I installed Steam into C:\Program Files (x86) and then moved the contents to a 2TB drive and created a hard link back to the empty C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam directory.

Has worked fine for the last 4 or so years.

Interesting that the article mentions contact-less as going out of favour in the USA whereas here, (Australia), it has become rather widespread in the last two years or so.
CnP has been around for a few years with banks in the last year or so stating that signatures are no longer required for any CC transactions.

Not particularly concerned about RFID reading of CCs since the process to get a new card/recover funds is pretty painless, (from the one time CC fraud happened to me).  Plus it's easy to check whether there's any unauthorised activity on the cards.

I'd be more concerned about protecting objects for which there is no easy way to tell if they've been compromised, eg. ePassport, access card, etc.

I've pledged for a minimal wallet on Kickstarter: Wally Micro - The Minimal Wallet with a Few Surprises.

Going a little off-topic, nice looking idea except the price kind of kills it - for the last 30+ years I've just been using the plastic card wallets the bank provides free as my cash/card wallet.  About 3mm a side bigger than a card and can hold up to eight.

Battle Royale: I had never heard of this before, but from IMDB is seems that it was an updated remake based on the gruesome Battle Royal (2000), ...

@IainB: Which Battle Royale are you referring to when you say "updated remake" because AFAIK there is only the one film, Battle Royale (2000), or it's original title, Batoru rowaiaru.

Watched it and its sequel a few years ago and didn't think the first was too bad, can't remember much about the sequel - have to watch them again.

stunning

Thanks :)  If you do a image search in Google for "Kurume Bowl" the top few rows are all images from the same gardens.

A search through the registry for NewStartPanel provided the rest.

The following values are applicable to Windows 8.1 (and probably Windows 10):

Code: Text [Select]
  1. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
  2.
  3. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel]
  4. "{F02C1A0D-BE21-4350-88B0-7367FC96EF3C}"=dword:00000001   # Network icon
  5. "{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}"=dword:00000001   # Libraries
  6. "{5399E694-6CE5-4D6C-8FCE-1D8870FDCBA0}"=dword:00000001   # Control Panel
  7. "{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000001   # This PC
  8. "{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}"=dword:00000001   # User folder

A value of 1 hides the icon, a value of 0 displays it, refresh the Desktop after changing the values.

A lot better than IndieGoGo, where there have been instances of people funding devices that are not even possible.

They are on IndieGoGo also.

I think I've just got it.
I did a duckgo search: https://duckduckgo.c...29+manual&t=ffnt
The first item in the list of hits was: R1(TNZ) - Support - ZTE Devices - Tomorrow never waits
This links to the "Manuals" tab on the Support page.
From there:
  • I saved the page to Scrapbook, which also swept up the software download files in
    file: p020111219589075332625.zip

The USB drivers for the TNZ R1 are available from ZTE CN here.

Same file.  ;)

... the software for Join Me is network carrier specific for the TelecomR1 phone.  Your link contained phones allocated to the Telstra network and didnt have the R1 phone on the list of phones designed for that software. ...

Sorry, didn't know that - there is an XML file in the archive that lists ZTE models, I wonder if one could be edited to R1 or it tacked on the end?

The USB drivers for the TNZ R1 are available from ZTE CN here.

I'd give chcp 28591 a go, it's worked for me with various accented characters, (corresponds to ISO 8859-1 Latin 1; Western European (ISO)).

Your "friends" at CNET have v1.1.0B32:

Softonic and other sites also have Join Me but their download links are for installer stubs, unlike the one above which downloads the original installer, (even if it is a fairly early version).

I had a few issues at first which seems related to characters in the folder name. I have separated those for the moment and will investigate later.

You could probably get it to process those by adding a change codepage command (chcp) at the start of the command file to change the character set it uses by default, (normally 850).

There is Powershell: List Outlook Contacts with PowerShell

Code: PowerShell [Select]
  1. $Outlook=NEW-OBJECT –comobject Outlook.Application
  2. $Contacts=$Outlook.session.GetDefaultFolder(10).items
  3. $Contacts | Format-Table FullName,MobileTelephoneNumber,Email1Address

Would I need to change MOBO too?

You'd need a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM if you went for a complete upgrade.

How much RAM is currently installed?

If it's only 2GB then you could try asking the store if they have 4GB (2x2GB) of used DDR2-800 from an old computer for a reasonable price, (or even free if you ask nicely :) ).  It should give a little more headroom when running applications.

As far as I know the Pentium 4 processor only comes as single core.

...

Now I must add that all of these experiences come from desktop PC's with the Intel Core2 Duo E8200 processor (2676 MHz a.k.a. Wolfdale), which was a very good model in it's day. And I know that performance between Core2 Duo processors varied quite a lot depending on the model in desktops, but even more so for models in laptops.

So I hope for CleverCat that she is not cursed with one of those...

It's a ECS G31T-M7 socket 775 motherboard, so it's using a Pentium E21xx Dual Core.

Thanks 4WD and has a boatload of options that i presume  are best left alone by neophytes such as myself?

The default Normal preset is good for anything that isn't device specific.  Otherwise, it has presets for Apple/Android devices among others.

I thought the conversion time was a bit long (took 36 mins to do a 3.2 GB file) but it id it with no errors and no questions asked and NO little hand poked out of the screen asking for $$ so I guess this is a really Free version?

It's just a different interface to the HandBrake engine, a bit easier by default but you can still get in and tweak settings if required.

Otherwise, there's also ClipToolz Convert V2, (also free - need to use DropBox download link near page bottom), which is designed for quality conversions using ffmpeg or ffmbc but it has a interesting interface, (ie. VidCoder is easier).

In theory, given that AVCHD is just MPEG4-AVC + audio in a transport stream, you could just remux the video+audio stream into a MP4 format container which would only take a minute or two.

eg. Using ffmpeg in a CLI:

ffmpeg -i inputvideo.m2ts -c:v copy -c:a copy outputvideo.mp4

The media player just needs to be able to handle whatever audio format the stream is, most likely AC-3 if it's from a camcorder.

TV Scheduler Pro - I've used a commercial fork of this software for the last 5+ years and it has never once failed.

You can set it to automatically grab the XML for you, and if you have any DVB-T/S devices connected (using standard Windows BDA drivers), you can set it to automatically record based on various match criteria.

Funny, I couldn't get either of those images to show 360° in  either Firefox or MS Edge browsers.

Worked fine in Pale Moon, K-Meleon, IE11, Chromodo.

I did notice stitching errors in both of them, by the way.

Almost always going to happen where you have straight lines.

I have the same problem with a tablet when connecting to TVs via mini-HDMI -> HDMI, the TV blanks every 10-15 seconds as it tries to resync with the tablet.

Nothing can be done about it other than find a TV it doesn't happen with - as Shades mentioned, unintended consequences arise from using differing versions of the standards.

You can have Powershell format the output any way you like, eg:

Code: PowerShell [Select]
  1. Get-ADUser -Filter * | Format-Table Name

will return a list of names for all AD users - in theory, I've got no way to test it.

Output will be:

Code: Text [Select]
  1. Name
  2. ----
  3. name 1
  4. name 2
  5. etc
  6. etc

Add the -HideTableHeaders parameter if you want to lose the headers, eg:

Code: PowerShell [Select]
  1. Get-ADUser -Filter * | Format-Table Name -HideTableHeaders

Get-ADGroup - cmdlet for listing/searching groups.
