N.A.N.Y. 2014 / Re: NANY 2014 Release - epCheck
« Last post by skwire on February 05, 2014, 04:36 PM »
I found a small bug when adding a series and refreshing one series. Both actions result in the following unzip error:

I'm a little unclear so could you please provide some more detail?  Was this a particular series?  Or, are you saying that you were adding and refreshing at the same time?  Or....?

Thank you very much for the new features!

P.S. I have updated the screenshot for the TPFC entry, hope you're OK with it (animated .gif with 4 frames and 5 seconds delay).

No problem at all.   :D. Thanks for taking care of that.

Since I haven't heard of any problems with these interim builds, I'm going to go ahead and promote it to a release.

v1.1.1 - 2014-02-04
+ Added a simple tracking ability to epCheck.  You can now set the
watched/unwatched state using the checkboxes for each episode.
+ Added a "Show special episodes" option to control whether or not a
series' special episodes are listed.  (Thanks, lanux128)
+ Added an option to give some control over how many banner images are
downloaded for a series.  (Thanks, nickodemos)
+ Colours now apply to the Series tab episode list.
    * Broke out the search functionality to its own tab.
! Worked around an issue where the episode list would sometimes be
      loaded twice.

I have two Dell S2340M 23" monitors.  I really like them and they're really well priced.

Noticed that the save to CSV only does one series at a time. If we could highlight what we liked one could select all and then search a CSV file.

You know...all the data you want is in the XML files in the data folder.  You could write a script or a parser to search through those.

« Last post by skwire on February 02, 2014, 04:17 PM »
I really appreciate your enthusiasm for epCheck so I hope you're not too disappointed when I tell that most of your requests are somewhat out of scope for what I intended for epCheck.  I'll go through your requests...

Is there a way to add either a second tab for series or maybe have it so that if you right click on the series tab it will switch from "current/ongoing" to a "canceled/catch when I can" tab.

I have been rolling around in my head a sort of "profiles" type of functionality where you could save/load specific lists of shows.  In other words, you could make several lists to cover your needs: watching, watched, cancelled, etc.  I wasn't thinking additional tabs...more like a drop-down where you could select which profile to view.  No ETA at this time, though.

Another thought. If people keep using your program to keep track of shows new and canceled it might be nice to have a search functions on the story line.

I really doubt I'll ever add something like this. IMO, this is way out of scope for epCheck.

Another edit. Just was looking and thgought about  maybe having the # and episode column set to a default minimum so as to be able to always have that information visible. Seen that many times when # hits three digits things get covered.

Since the widths of the listviews are automatically saved, just resize the column as you need.

The latest interim build is here and adds colouring to the main episode list: http://skwire.dcmemb...pCheck_v1.1.0.42.zip

    * Made it so the 0.ico and 1.ico icons are not overwritten when the

two icons with your own.  (Thanks, Mike)

Hi, traingreg, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.   :)  Apologies for missing your post.   :-[

The Proxy Switching seems to work well! I did have one question, however, when there are multiple users (with multiple logins) using the computer is there any way to install it so it will work for ever user. Right now it seems like I have to install it for each person.

I suppose you could write a script or something like that.  However, the application doesn't have any sort of built-in ability to install itself for all users.

+ Added the ability to set a proxy state check interval.  This allows
the IE Proxy Toggle to update its icon if the proxy state is changed
by an external source.  You can find this new option in the tray menu.

@J-Mac: Will you please try this latest interim build and see if that resizing bug has been alleviated at all?  Thanks.

If you change the setting for 'The' to be at the end it will not update the ones you had added before.

Not a bug.  You can rename a highlighted series by slow-clicking it twice or by pressing F2.

This is awesome.  But don't let bloomberg hear about this!

Thanks much, superboy.  Based on how little sStockQuote actually does in terms of stocks and portfolio stuff, I'm rather surprised by the amount of positive feedback that it gets.  I mean, is there really a derth of apps that do what sStockQuote does?  I'd like to think there are many, much more capable stock apps out there.  Again, I know jack squat about stocks and the stock market so it's an honest question.

Hi mthadley, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.   :)

Would be terrific if the Market Capitalization column (extended tab) took into account M (million) vs B (billion) when sorting

I've tried all the sort options available to me and, not suprisingly, none of them will sort that way.

Would also be helpful to show currency (for stocks on non-US markets)

As I mentioned before, I know very little about the stock market so I'm not quite sure what you're asking for.  sStockQuote gets its data using the method found here: http://www.gummy-stu...f.org/Yahoo-data.htm.  If you can correlate the data bits you want with the codes in that table, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

I'm using it with no issues so far.   :)

Thanks for the feedback.

I noticed that on a few occasions that it would take a long time to launch. I am assuming that it is gathering information at this time from the web and updating information about the shows.

Actually, it only runs that routine after the GUI is shown so I'm not sure what is causing the slow startup.

Great program! I just downloaded it tonight and tried it out. What little I entered so far is looking pretty good!   :D

Thanks, this has been a fun one to code.

One issue I encountered: Gotta be real careful when resizing the window.

I have seen/experienced this occsionally as well and I think the problem is contained in one of the various libraries I use to extend the capabilities of AutoHotkey.  Unfortunately, I've not been able to fully pin down why it does this.   :(

I want to delete all the lines that begins with "dermatitis" without quotes.
But the effect is that all the lines are deleted.....

Follow lanux128's steps but check the "Regular Expressions" box and use this as a search string: ^dermatitis

Here is the latest interim build: http://skwire.dcmemb...pCheck_v1.1.0.24.zip

This moves the watched state data to its own watched.ini file in the data folder.  It should move any current watched data from the config.ini to the new watched.ini but if for some reason it doesn't, I apologise.   :o

N.A.N.Y. 2014 / Re: NANY 2014 Release - epCheck

I just seen that what is watched is in the config.ini. My idea still stands on reverse recording and it can stay in the config.ini.

Thank you for your idea.  However, I'm not going to do this because:
  • Your reverse way would involve having to compare the current list with any potential new additions every time a series is refreshed.  Programmatically, I find it much easier to simply keep track of watched episode IDs.  Sure, the list will grow over time but...
  • ...even with over a hundred TV shows and all episodes watched, the size of the text file is going to be inconsequential.  I tested this with 118 series and all episodes marked watched.  The resulting watched.ini file was only 158 KB.  That was with Doctor Who (700+ eps) and Cops (~900 eps).
  • In regards to a performance hit, again, I think it's going to be extremely minimal.  Most any (semi) modern computer can parse through thousands of lines in a text file in fraction of a second.
1550
Contro, you really ought to try Text Monkey Pro.  It's not free ($30) but it can do all sorts of things to text files including the thing you mention in this post and many that you've mentioned in the past.

http://www.boxersoftware.com/tmfeat.htm

In the "Line Operations" section, there is a "Delete lines that contain user-specified text" option that should cover your need expressed in this thread.
