Lot's of online apps here, including the comments.

As an American, I am aware of the downward spiral of privacy in this country, as well as it's own doings to get these laws in place to invade privacy at their will. It's a damn shame on us.

They can't see what I'm thinking though. Unless I tell them.
There isn't any technology to read my mind.
Except the obvious means to get me to talk.

But anyway...Tom. There are plenty of online deals.
Depends on what kind of info you need access to.

The major thing is their ability to confiscate your laptop at will, for no apparent reason. Which is not right. Anything on your computer could be sent to another in another country via the net. So their reasoning is flawed as well as the motives.

lol...
i'd use fedex or ups i think
if i was to go the shipping route

You could mail or ship your computer to your destination.
But you wouldn't have it on the trip of course.

I've heard of some people doing that with their luggage because Airlines often loose your luggage for a time.

Skrommel's 'TrayScreenSaver'

https://www.donation...html#TrayScreenSaver

Is what I use. I don't have a screensaver set in the xp settings. Don't need one to be actively set all the time. I just use this because I turn off my monitors when I'm not using the computers.

Google Photo Screensaver

http://pack.google.com/screensaver.html

Apart from all the editors and viewers, it's the most enjoyable.
Because I work with two computers and three monitors, the one will go through my pictures or feeds that I choose while working with the other computer on various stuff. And taking a break, I get 3 monitors showing my pics.

Skype. http://www.skype.com/

While forums or chat are ok, live talk is better for good communication and hanging out together from distant points on the map.
Plenty of interactive add ons. Social in nature, which is it's function I believe.

I think I'd make a new folder and copy the files to work with to it.
So you are sure to have the originals....just in case....

Ok, sorry if it changed anyone's file associations.

It didn't on my computer.

If it did on anyone's, right click the file and click choose program and you can set the default program for that file type.

Or as in Phil's screenshot, you can click 'change' or 'restore' or 'Advanced' as his has. I guess cuz I'm on xp home at the moment, it's restore instead of advanced.

I still use Imagine for my default, so it's as easy as going into Imagine's settings and select all files list to make Imagine the default viewer. Not all have my preferences though.

The newest version is in the first thread of this site I posted.

Yes, I'm glad I posted just for Phil to post that program.
Though they both seem to be in early stages of development and certainly potential.

Sometimes I hesitate to post a program.
Cause it may cause problems on someone's machine.
But the freewaregenius guy tried it.
So it was worth a go for me.

I know how to manipulate file associatians manually.
So that really wasn't a concern for me.
Then there's also the auto fixes for file associations.

but vjpeg doesn't seem to have it's own icon

-edit

and yeah uninstalled and checked
installed it and checked

it could have changed something somewhere
if i find it i'll let ya know

Thanks Phil, so far I haven't had file associations mess up.
Probably or maybe cause vjpeg is not set as default viewer.

I will certainly check out Osiva!

Download this.

http://www.geekstogo...oads&showfile=21

Check "Select All" then "Empty Selected".
Also for Firefox and Opera if you have them.
I think just the Cache will work for those two browsers.
But if not Check "Select All" for them also.

This is an excellent utility and has fixed many a youtube problem and more.

From the little time that I have played with AC Browser, I haven't had the freezing problem anne_r. And I have opened some very large folders.

I hope you can get whatever it is causing the freezing solved.

Sounds like some extra parts and trash the rest though.

I've rebuilt a few old computers from parts.

Sounds like you have tried everything but the ribbon cable.
If it's not the motherboard, I'd try a different ribbon cable.

But Dells-especially old dells are very picky on every little setting.
Including the bios and parts.

Disable all warnings in the bios,
if you can.

Reset it to setup or standard defaults.
Then go through each section and clear warnings and virus scans and intrusion alerts. If you can.

Personally an old dell ain't worth it to me,
unless I have the time to mess with it.

Like I said, they are picky about every little setting from what I've experienced.

No I don't like the yahoo beta, if that's what it's still called.
I prefer the basic and still use yahoo mail.
As well as Gmail with it's flawless Gmaildrive...so far...

And Yahoo's Briefcase account has never failed me yet.

Of course that don't mean nothing much.
Except worthy of a look and taste I think.

Giving google quite the competition imo.
Especially if the storage is unlimited like yahoo mail.
I'm still investigating it myself....

Being aware of one person having trouble with a program does not stop me from checking the program out for myself.
It may not be the program's fault anyway.

Some may find today's posting at the site interesting indeed.

I can understand that!

I've been a fan of this site for a long time.

Never had a bad program from their links that are posted.

Although a bit disappointed at times when the program looks really great, only to find that it's for a mac.

There are programs for pc, macs and linux.
In all sorts of categories.

FDD is a site that posts one free download a day.

The programs that are posted on their site stay on their site.
It's not just free for one day.
But I suppose for as long as the programs remain free.
There are quite a few downloads always there.

I keep up with it with my reader.

if they want it to look prettier and fancier
you are going to take a hit in performance
though this works it shoots my cpu way up
whereas screenshot capture does not

found this from

http://www.barrysbestblog.com/

http://www.bugshooti...turelist&b=index

not sure of feature comparison
but it is quite bulky
it works ok and could be a contender

i think it has less real usable features
the 'send to' can be done with any file without this program
slow to stitch imo
screenshot capture responds faster

but i kept it
still room on my drive..lol....
